❤️ CAGNEY & GYPSY ❤️

MEET YOUR MATCH!

These girls are single and ready to mingle! They're looking long term relationships with someone who will love them forever. Cagney and Gypsy are available for our foster-to-adopt trial.

CAGNEY - About 2 yrs old / 40 lbs (F)

Cagney was found dragging a line with a heavy collar around her neck. What's worse is the collar had weights and padlocks on it. Cagney also had wounds along her legs and ear infections in both ears. This poor girl was in rough shape! She was shut down, overwhelmed and scared beyond belief but she bravely escaped the hell she was living in.

Cagney was then saved by our partner rescue, Atchafalaya River Rescue. She's currently in foster and doing well, but she needs time, patience and TLC. Cagney needs a fenced yard since she does not yet walk well on a leash. Dog friendly but does better with dogs her size. She doesn't have the patience for small snappy dogs. She did well on her cat test. Her foster is working on house training, crate training and her leash skills.

GYPSY - About 3 yrs old / 38 lbs (F)

Gypsy is a "low rider" with shorter legs. Her foster mom says she is a fun loving ball of energy. She's a smart, active girl who would love an active person or family to take her on lots of adventures. Gypsy is dog friendly, kid friendly and loves all people.

❤️ GRETCHEN & LT ❤️

MEET YOUR MATCH!

These cuties arrived on our 1/18 transport. They are believed to be Catahoula mix puppies and/or Black Mouth Curs, but that's just our best guess. They're both settling into their foster homes very well and hoping to find their forever homes soon! Dog, cat & kid friendly.

Gretchen loves the other dogs in her foster home and loves to play with them. She's been working on house training and is doing amazing going to the bathroom outside, no accidents in days. Her foster mom says she’s the most cuddly pup and just wants to sleep on you.

LT gets along really well with the other dog in his foster home, all he wants to do is play! He loves toys, especially soft ones. He’s very food motivated and already knows the sit command. While he does have puppy zoomie energy he is also so snuggly. He curls up in his foster's laps and takes naps all the time. His foster mom says he's very sweet and affectionate, whoever adopts him will be the luckiest person!

MEET YOUR MATCH!

Blue - About 8 mos old / 45 lbs (M)

Blue was found with shoelaces and plastic tied around his neck , wandering around southern Louisiana. His foster mom took him in and got him vetted and started working on his training.

Sweet boy who LOVES to play with other dogs and toys. Dog friendly, cat friendly and crate trained. His foster mom in Louisiana says he is "everything friendly!" Needs some work on house training and jumping up in excitement when he meets new friends

April - About 1 yr old / 45 lbs (F)

Friendly, playful and outgoing. A typical boxer mix with a fun, energetic, and goofy personality. Loves to run and play. Dog friendly and respectful of indoor cats, but will chase outdoor cats. Crate trained and house trained. April is not good with chickens or birds.

Blue and April are available for our foster-to-adopt trial and can come to NJ on our 2/1 or 2/15 transport.

James - About 8 years old / 60 lbs (M)

Bones and James' owner passed away leaving behind 8 dogs. The owner's daughter is trying to find a place for the remaining dogs before they are kicked out of the home on January 31st.

Bones and James are bonded each other so we are hoping to find them a home together, but we will consider any home considering the urgency of the situation.

Dog friendly

No cats or livestock please

Sweet. obedient, friendly, playful

House trained and crate trained

They have a history of digging out of the fenced yard so they can't be left alone in the yard

❤️ MICKEY ❤️

MEET YOUR MATCH!

Mickey's nursing a broken heart. This sweet senior has been let down not once, BUT TWICE, by his humans. He originally came to us in 2020 after being found dumped on the side of the highway by his former owner. He was the adopted from us in 2020 and we were recently contacted by a rescue in Maryland who said they had Mickey.

His most recent adopter failed to provide veterinary care for Mickey. He was in desperate need of a dental cleaning and his family could not afford it. We took Mickey back into our care and we're working to get him the medical attention needed - we expect him to be available for adoption by early February.

SNOWBALL - About 4 yrs old / 7 lbs (F) Super friendly with all dogs and humans. Loves to cuddle. Needs at least one other dog, two or more would be better, in her new home. Kid friendly.

ISABELLE - About 1 yr old / 39 lbs (F) Dog, cat & kid friendly! Very sweet, affectionate and eager to please! Loves to snuggle. Very playful girl with lots of energy, a playmate who matches her playfulness (or comes close) would be ideal.

LITTLE ANNE - About 4.5 yrs old / 45 lbs (F) Friendly & sweet disposition. Enjoys running in the yard. Well behaved, active, loves being outside and going for walks around the neighborhood. Dog friendly and also good on the leash.

WILBUR - About 3 yrs old / 31 lbs (M) Good w dogs, cats & kids! Energetic, playful, sweetheart. Loves all people and gets along great with other dogs and cats. Quiet and well behaved.

BUDDY JR - About 4.5 yrs old / 10 lbs (M) Sweet, friendly boy. Playful & likes to be in your lap. Dog friendly.

BRUNO - About 8 yrs old / 18 lbs (M) Happy and active! Loves going for walks! Dog friendly and does well in a crate and in the car.

This little beauty will be arriving on our 2/1 transport. Sasha is 5 months old and 4 pounds. She has a gorgeous coat and mesmerizing eyes!

Sasha is an adorable and loving girl. This cutie is very affectionate and getting along fine with the kids and dogs in her foster home. They do their own thing and she does hers.

FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY

Lauren and Marcie arrived on our 1/18 transport. Laurens foster noticed she wasn't feeling well and we brought her to GSVS. She was diagnosed with parvo, a virus that affects unvaccinated dogs. Marcie also became sick and spent a few days at Garden State.

Luckily these pups had already started their vaccine series so Marcie only got a mild case of the virus. Poor Lauren is struggling moreso and requires a feeding tube and several more days in the hospital. We are very hopeful she will make a full recovery.

FIVE DOLLAR FRIDAY

On January 5th we received a horrifying plea for help from the NYC shelter. Bella was surrendered pregnant with her uterus having slipped through a hernia and was distended into her abdomen, just under the skin. We rushed her to GSVS and she had emergency surgery to save her life. Sadly, her puppy did not survive.

On January 10th we took Bruno into our care. Poor Bruno was brought to the NYC shelter by a couple who took him from a homeless man who begged for help since he could no longer care for Bruno. Bruno was in terrible shape - emaciated, matted, in pain, etc. The city shelter got Bruno started on a feeding schedule and some meds and he was feeling much better. We got him to our vet pretty quickly to figure out what was next for Bruno, hoping he could be fixed soon. However, we got quite the surprise when the doctor told us that Bruno was also suffering from a bilateral hernia and would also require surgery at GSVS.

Bruno will have his surgery on 1/27and we could use a little help from our friends to get through this one. After depleting our emergency reserves for Bella, we need to come together for Bruno so we can provide all the love and care he requires. We can't imagine the life he has lived being homeless with his owner and the pain he has endured with a bilateral hernia present for months or longer.

Two adorable and adoptable pups looking for love!

JIMBO - About 4.5 yrs old / 60 lbs (M)

A good boy who lives in a Louisiana foster home with several other dogs and he does well with everyone!

Rockstar at adoption events and loves meeting people

A gentle and loving boy who loves watching TV

Will sometimes sleep in a dog bed but seems to prefer the floor

Needs a little work on taking treats more gently

Good with dogs & older kids

House trained, crate trained and leash trained!

JUSTINE - About 1 yr old / 35 lbs (M)

Energetic, active, and inquisitive

Would love a large yard to run in and/or an active person or family to take her on adventures

Needs some work on manners but is quick and eager to learn

If another dog in the home is overly bossy she will boss right back but she also listens well to correction from her human

FOSTERS / ADOPTERS NEEDED

Not all owner surrenders are because a pet is no longer wanted. Sadly, we receive many requests for help from people who have lost their homes, their jobs, or their ability to care for the pets they love. This is one of those desperate pleas.

A woman reached out to us asking for help with finding homes for her mother's dogs. Sadly, her mom passed away and they are now being forced to leave their home on January 31st. Of the 8 dogs, 4 dogs have already found rescue. Bones, James, Gumbo and Possum still need rescue!

Aside from Possum ( age 6 ) all of these dogs are seniors. They will be surrendered to a rural shelter if fosters or adopters aren't found. The shelter is no place for senior dogs who have spent their whole lives in a loving home.

⭐️ Bones and James (10 yrs old) are a bonded pair, but considering the dire circumstances, we would consider separate homes. Like true Huskies, they have a history of digging out of the fenced yard so they can't be left alone in the yard. These sweet boys are house trained, crate trained and dog friendly. No cats or livestock please.

⭐️ Gumbo (10 yrs old) is a sweet old man who isn't as playful as he used to be, but truly enjoys a walk around the neighborhood. He gets along with other dogs, but can be territorial especially at mealtime. He's never aggressive but will defend his food if need be. If there are other dogs in the home he should be fed separately. Gumbo is cat friendly!

⭐️ Possum (6 yrs old) is laid-back, loving and affectionate. Overall, he gets along well with other dogs and cats but will stand his ground when challenged by another dog. His caretaker says he is not aggressive but perhaps is best suited for an easygoing companion (s).

Ari is scheduled for our 1/25 Pilots To The Rescue transport. However, her foster had to cancel due to an illness. This is our last chance to get this little girl to NJ.

We're looking for a new foster OR a foster that can commit to 2 weeks!

Josie was found as a stray in a rural area of southern Louisiana and no one came to claim her. She is being fostered by a nice family in Louisiana until she can come to NJ. She's learning housebreaking, crate training and leash walking. Josie is dog, cat and kid friendly!

#fosteringsaveslives Nelson needs a foster by 10/31 This sweet boy loves his people! Nelson is a young guy who’s responded well to training. He loves getting all the attention and affection so we believe he would do best as the only pet in the home. Nelson is smart and has a lot of love to give. He could make a great walking / running / hiking partner. Nelson deserves a chance at a happy ending! ⭐️ SKYE ⭐️ Skye is with our friends at the East Orange Animal Alliance. We would love to get this beautiful senior girl into a foster home. Skye and another dog she lived with were surrendered to the shelter after their elderly owner passed away. Sadly, the other dog died in the shelter. The shelter is no place for a senior dog. We've been told Skye previously lived with small dogs and cats. The shelter says she walks AMAZING on leash and is friendly with all people. She didn't react well when tested with a female dog at the shelter. . . If you'd like to help by fostering Skye, please let us know. You can fill out an application to foster online.
