Heartworm treatment consists of:
30 days of antibiotics
Two visits to see Dr. Behan at Barnegat Animal Clinic
30 days of "light duty" - no running, jumping or vigorous play

Daisy, Truffles and Hunter are heartworm positive dogs with our partner rescue in North Carolina. Do you have spot on the couch for a snuggle buddy? Please consider giving them a second chance at life.

❤️ DAISY - About 2 yrs old / 42 lbs (F) Described as a great girl who is always happy. She's playful but her favorite thing is getting loved on. She's tested well with several dogs and also tested well with cats. She needs some work on leash pulling, but she's an eager to please and gentle girl.

❤️ TRUFFLES - About 2.5 yrs old / 30 lbs (F) Described as a friendly and affectionate girl who likes to explore. This cutie with the great smile loves getting attention! She did well on her dog test.

❤️ HUNTER - About 4 yrs old / 35 lbs (M) Described as a submissive, friendly boy. He does the nose to the ground like any hound but is also interactive and seeks attention. Hunter has tested well with other dogs too.

➡️ Heartworm disease is a serious and potentially fatal disease. These pups have limited resources and opportunities at their small shelter. We'd love to help save their lives, but we need your help!

Blair and Sawyer are with a partner shelter in North Carolina. They can come to NJ if we find fosters to save their lives!

BLAIR - About 1 yr old / 30 lbs (F)

Blair was found as a stray and never claimed. Before going to the shelter, she was around other dogs and kids at the finder's home and she did well with everyone! Described as having spurts of energy but listens well and is a very loving girl.

SAWYER - About 1 yr old / 45 lbs (M)

Sawyer is described as a friendly boy who will climb up in your lap to give you a kiss. He's done great meeting different dogs at the shelter. This handsome brindle boy is a great pup who's smart and loving.

⭐️ BRUISER & LOWGEN ⭐️

Bruiser and Lowgen are currently with our partner rescues in LA and NC, but hoping to come to NJ soon. We offer a foster-to-adopt trial for approved adopters.

BRUISER - About 6 mos old / 36 lbs (M)

Sweet boy who was saved from a dead end shelter with no resources thanks to his foster in Louisiana! Playful and friendly boy with lots of potential. Currently in foster with several other dogs and a cat and he loves everyone!

LOWGEN - About 2 yrs old / 40 lbs (M)

Lowgen is goofy, playful and eager to please guy. He looks to have a big bully head, a short but long body and tiny little T-rex legs! This sweet and friendly boy is dog friendly.

Today we welcomed 15 new arrivals from our rescue partners in Louisiana, of which half went home with their forever families!

Chip, Reese, Cam, Sandi Sweetheart, Snoopy, McBee, and Scruffy were our lucky 7 who were adopted. Happy tails to them and their families!

Roxie, Ravin, Magellan, Cecilia, Penelope, Collin, Spuds, and Tilly Mae are happy to be going to into our loving foster homes. Be sure to visit our website to learn more about our new NJ fosters.

⭐️ BENNY & BENNY ⭐️

We have two sweet Benny boys looking for fosters or adopters! Both Bennys are currently in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ on our next transport. We offer a foster-to-adopt trial to approved adopters.

BENNY (Chi mix) - About 11 mos old / 23 lbs (M)

Benny was born to WOI alumni Toffee last November and adopted in Louisiana. Sadly, he is being returned since he's not good with chickens. Benny loves kids and is dog friendly. This playful and affectionate boy lived with an adult cat and did well but he was too rough for kittens.

BENNY (Shih Tzu) - About 2 yrs old / 8 lbs (M)

Benny was surrendered by his owner to our partner rescue in Louisiana when his elderly owner could no longer care for him. Family members took him initially, but were unable to keep him long term. Our partner rescue got him groomed and got him the medical care he needed.

Benny is dog, cat and kid friendly but he does not care for bigger dogs. This affectionate and eager to please boy is housebroken, crate trained and non destructive in his foster home in Louisiana.

Darlene is a friendly, active girl who likes to be on the move or up on you to snuggle This brindle beauty affectionate, eager to please and good with other dogs.

This little sweetie was found as a stray and no one came to claim her. We're hoping someone can look past the 'black dog syndrome' and step up to foster her. Described as friendly and loving. Likes other dogs but needs some work on sharing toys (supervision/separation if other dogs in home). Playful, affectionate and eager to please.

SUSIE - About 16 yrs old / 12 lbs (F) Sweet, loves attention, loves naps and loves to eat. Despite some health issues, she's in good spirits and does not let anything get her down. At 16, we can't be sure how much time she has left but we can be sure we will make it the best chapter yet! This sweet senior is blind, gentle and even tempered.

TIA -About 3 yrs old / 50 lbs (F) Big mush who wants to love and be loved! Loves giving kisses, chewing on her bones and chasing a ball. Also loves to go for walks as much as she loves to snuggle on the couch. Kid friendly but would be best with older kids because she doesn't always realizer what a big ball of love she is! Good with large males dogs but would be totally fine as an only pup in the home.

ONYX - About 4.5 mos old / 10 lbs (F) Very sweet girl who likes to sit in laps and be petted. Big cuddler with children and adults, and happily sleeps in bed with her foster parents and doggie siblings. Wants LOTS of attention and love! Can be timid initially but getter better every day. Enjoys throwing toys around in the air and chasing them, and loves marrow bones. Good with dogs, cats & kids!

GYPSY - About 7 mos old / 30 lbs (F) Goofy girl who loves attention. Funny, playful girl who did well on her cat test and she loves to play with other dogs. Crate trained and is sleeping in her crate all night with no accidents. Walks well on leash and only barks when she needs to alert her foster family to a strange dog or human approaching the home.

BLOSSOM - About 5 mos old / 25 lbs (F) Described as sweet, calm, curious and eager to learn. Just a puppy and will need training. She is doing well learning to walk on a leash.

PEPSI - About 6 yrs old / 16 lbs (M) Happy, friendly, playful boy. Pepsi loves toys and is dog friendly. Working on housebreaking skills. A really cute boy who has a lot of love to give!

TCHOUP - About 8 mo old / 25 lbs (M)

Sweet, playful puppy currently in a foster home with another dog and cat. Likes toys and time running in the yard but also enjoys a good snuggle sesh. At this age, we expect he will do well with kids too.

VICTORIA - About 3 yrs old / 55 lbs (F)

Super sweet personality and loves to be with her people. In foster in Louisiana with 3 large dogs and one small dog and she does well with the large dogs. The small dog doesn't like her and the feeling seems to be mutual so they are mostly separate. Loves walks and loves yard time. House / crate / leash trained.

In a foster home in NC with dogs, cats and even grandbabies. He's a good boy who loves everyone. His foster family is working on house training and leash training. He's playful, affectionate and eager to please!

SALLY - About 2 yrs old / 37 lbs (F)

House / leash / crate trained. Described as a sweet little wiggle butt who LOVES her people. Great with kids as young as 5 and other dogs large, small young and old. Loves to play and snuggle! Her foster family says, "Sally is one of the cutest and sweetest dogs we have had the pleasure of fostering and we can't wait for her to find her forever home."

ROXIE - About 2.5 yrs old / 20 lbs (F) Described as adorable, playful and affectionate! Loves to play with her foster family and with other dogs. Working on house and crate training. Tested well with cats.

COLLIN - About 4 mos old / 15 lbs (M) Part of an accidental litter between and an owned poodle and a neighbor's pit mix. Adorable, sweet and playful. Dog friendly and at this age, should do well with cats and kids too.

Blip - About 7 mos old / 25 lbs (F)
Radar - About 7 mos old / 35 lbs (M)

Blip and Radar were found as strays. Blip is a little more outgoing than Radar. She's a big fan of belly rubs and she's dog friendly. Blip needs work with leash training.

Radar is a shy and gentle boy. He's learning to walk on a leash, but isn't quite there yet. Radar is a sweetheart - he just needs time and confidence building. He loves treats!

Blip and Radar are young pups and will need continued training.

#fosteringsaveslives Nelson needs a foster by 10/31 This sweet boy loves his people! Nelson is a young guy who’s responded well to training. He loves getting all the attention and affection so we believe he would do best as the only pet in the home. Nelson is smart and has a lot of love to give. He could make a great walking / running / hiking partner. Nelson deserves a chance at a happy ending! ⭐️ SKYE ⭐️ Skye is with our friends at the East Orange Animal Alliance. We would love to get this beautiful senior girl into a foster home. Skye and another dog she lived with were surrendered to the shelter after their elderly owner passed away. Sadly, the other dog died in the shelter. The shelter is no place for a senior dog. We've been told Skye previously lived with small dogs and cats. The shelter says she walks AMAZING on leash and is friendly with all people. She didn't react well when tested with a female dog at the shelter. . . If you'd like to help by fostering Skye, please let us know. You can fill out an application to foster online. ⭐️ ADOPT SNOWE ⭐️ About 10 - 12 yrs old / 8 lbs (F) Snowe is a super sweet, playful Maltese mix who came to us from the NYC shelter system. She was found as a stray and no one came to claim her. This little cutie is friendly (her tail never stops wagging), affectionate and SUPER playful. Despite her vision impairment from cataracts, Snowe gets around great and will always find her toys. She loves a good play session followed by cuddles - she is the ultimate lap pup. She also loves to be held and will snuggle into your shoulder. Snowe is house trained and so well behaved. She's dog friendly and good with older kids. Her foster mom says she’s a delight to be around. Despite her age and a few medical conditions which need attention, she deserved to be saved and find a loving home for the rest of her days. . . Interested in meeting this sweet senior? Does well with male dogs but is selective with females. Kid friendly, house trained and crate trained. 🐶 Venom - About 6 mos old / 40 lbs (M) Friendly, happy, playful pup who likes other dogs. Described as "extremely playful and loving." Has done well around kids at the shelter but we aren't sure yet on cats. 🐶 Mr. Wilson - About 3 yrs old / 10 lbs (M) Playful and affectionate boy who likes to be in your lap. Quiet & dog friendly. 🐶 Lori - About 1 yr old / 45 lbs (F) Sweet, playful girl who loves kids, adults and other dogs. Currently lives on a farm and does well with all of the animals. Adopt Lucky 💚 Look at that handsome little guy! Lucky is about 6.5 years old and 13 pounds. He lived with his owner and another dog until his Dad moved and wasn’t able to take him along. We’re looking for a new family to love Lucky! Lucky is doing great in his NJ foster home. He’s a lovable, friendly and playful little guy. Lucky is house trained and enjoys being in your lap. ❤️ ADOPT ROLLIE ❤️ Happy, playful, affectionate pup who loves everyone she meets! She’s currently in a foster home with kids and other dogs and she does great with everyone. Rollie is crate trained and sleeps through the night. She’s also doing amazing with house training! Rollie has been doing great with leash walking and her foster family makes sure she gets plenty of practice 🥰 She’s already learned ‘sit’ and is working on ‘paw’. Adopt Ella! Adopt Otis! . . . These little hound mix pups are about 3.5 months old. They arrived a few weeks ago and they’ve been doing AMAZING in their foster home. Their human foster siblings have been giving them lots of love and snuggles. They enjoy playing and are learning to walk on the leash. Both Ella and Otis are crate trained and sleep through the night. They’re working very hard on house training and they’re almost there! They’ve learned “sit” and “go in your crate” because they’re both smart little puppers! Ella and Otis are sweet, playful and affectionate pups. Adopt Hannah! Hannah is a beautiful Hound pup about 4 months old and 30 pounds. She has such sweet eyes and long silky ears. This pretty girl is outgoing and friendly.
