👑 PRINCESS THE CHIHUAHUA IS ADOPTED! 👑
Is there anything better than a newly adopted senior dog resting in a patch of sunlight on a hand-knit blanket surrounded by a mom and dad who adore her and will give her the most wonderful life?👏💞👏 Thank you, June and Michael, for falling in love with the pup on her sister Susan’s social media of her best friend Lisa’s foster dog through Lend-a-Paw Inc.! You have saved her! When we first met Princess, she was a pudgy bread loaf, who had been poked and prodded by nephews who caused her to bite. That rap sheet gave her a tough break at the city shelter, Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC)/nycacc, so this little Chihuahua wound up on the euthanasia list—and no doubt, she would have been killed! But a lovely woman named Lisa and our behavioral trainer teamed up and took a chance on her: they at the Queens ACC, drove her to our vet at bondvetclinic to adjust her anti-anxiety meds and give her a senior check-up. She did great, and they spent the day bonding and training with Princess: learning about stress signs, body language, cooperative care, consent testing, behavior modification, desensitization, reactivity training (in the city!), and discussed nutrition, enrichment, exercise, socialization/slow intros, housetraining, and weight loss. Lisa and Princess went home and took it slow, gave her time and space, followed all of our guidance, gave her everything she needed, and she has now transformed into a sweet and social girl who has become the apple of her newly adopted parents’ eyes. It wasn’t easy—but it’s not hard to do when you work with a rescue who believes in positive reinforcement—and it is always worth it to save the life of a dog in need.❤️ Thank you for fostering, adopting, and spreading the word about Lend-a-Paw rescue and the pets we are saving every day!

After a tough start being declawed and left in a garage Annabelle began her happy journey with a loving foster and foster siblings. ❤️

💖🥰 TROOPER IS OUT OF THE SHELTER! 🥰💖
We had put out a plea for our Christmas puppy to be transported to his new family before the holidays, and we got so much wonderful support of people offering to take him – thank you!👏 But since he had to ride in his crate in an SUV, luckily our wonderful volunteer Kathleen came to the rescue as always, and she is making the trek Upstate today. Our sweet boy Trooper is getting adopted and he’s going to live at the foothills of the mountains. We cannot thank his new family enough for welcoming him with open arms! Good luck, Trooper, and have a lifetime of happy memories with your new family.🏡⛰️🥾
