Happy Birthday Radar! How is he 8 years old today but still acts like he’s 8 months old except he naps more. 😂

He keeps us laughing with his antics yet is a great protector of home and property when he needs to be and sometimes when he doesn’t need to be. 😉❤️

He is aging well! Still agile, active and loves to play ball just not for as long. 🐶❤️

Sniffari!! It is great way for dogs to just sniff around and explore the environment for added enrichment to their day. Secondly, it helps me slow down and decompress.

In the pics, I added the game “find it”. I simply tossed some treats in the grass for her to forage and find.

Aloha is now 10 years old so it is also nice to have a low key enriching activity for her. She has always been a rough and tumble gal so having her engage in and enjoy a slow paced activity is beneficial for her aging body. ❤️

***Last photo is of her offering to “play dead” in the soft grass to see if it earns her a tasty treat! Do you think it did?! 😉

I put the puzzle toy inside a blanket to make it more challenging since Hula is so seasoned at this type of problem solving.

Well…. Today this girl is officially double digits: 10 years old! Happy Birthday to this spicy girl who still keeps me on my toes! I wouldn’t change you one bit! 😂❤️

Treat delivery! 🤩

Feeding your dog a treat straight to their mouth is common but do you ever get creative with your treat delivery?!

Other ways I deliver treats is to have the dog catch them or play training games such as “find it” and “get it”. The delivery depends on the individual dog and specific context of the training session. 🐶

What are your favorite ways to deliver treats to your dog?

Digging! I know a lot of us humans think this is a bad behavior but for a lot of dogs, it is a natural behavior. I love finding safe areas for my dogs to dig!

If you have a dog that loves to dig, you can either build your own dig box or buy your dog a plastic kiddie pool. You can fill it with sand, dirt, play chips or a bunch of dog toys/balls. This can give them an appropriate outlet for their natural instinct to dig!

Giving them their own space to dig can save your gardens and plants. Will they need help and guidance to learn that the dig box is for them? Absolutely but well worth the effort! 😉😁

The chin rest! This is one of my favorite cooperative care behaviors to teach. Is it easy? No. Does it take time? Yes but worth it! ❤️

Hula held her chin rest perfectly for the examination of her back end but her front end was more challenging. I do not consider this a failure for either one of us. It was actually a huge success! 🤩🎉 This was great information for me on what area we need to focus on as we continue to progress on this behavior.

Happy Birthday Radar! I can’t believe he is 7 years old! He is still active, spry and playful! He is “technically” a senior but he doesn’t act like a senior. Although, he does enjoy a good nap! 😉❤️
