Wellington 5.30.24
Three days until Wellington goes home. Practicing his puppy push-ups (Sit•Down•Stand) and Coming to the sound of a tone into Heel position. Wellington is such a bouncy, Happy-Go-Lucky puppy and he has really blossomed in the last couple of weeks. The first couple of days he was here I could not get him to walk to the end of my street, which is only three houses to the end of the cul-de-sac. Building his confidence needed my full attention. He now has a bright and wonderful future ahead of him. I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to get to know him. He is truly a joy to be around!

Wellington is 2 1/2 weeks into his 3 week board and train program. Today we went to Oceanside Harbor for some exploration and to test our work. For 7 months old, I thought he did a fantastic job today! I was very proud of his behavior! He has truly blossomed in the last couple of weeks.

Wellington
Finishing up week 2 of Wellington’s 3 week board and train program at Lowe’s. This puts his training to the test to see where we are strong and where we need more work. There were just the right amount of distractions today. I am very grateful to be able to work my dogs at Lowe’s. I always find the employees to be very gracious.
I am very pleased on how well Wellington did considering he is only 7 months old and two weeks into training. One more week to go, and then the real training begins, when he goes home. As always, I will stay in close contact with the owners until they are comfortable, and I have transferred my coaching skills over to them during their follow up lessons.

This is 7 month old Wellington, an Old English Sheepdog, at the end of week 1 of his 3 week Board & Train program. He’s here to build a good basic training foundation so he will be able to enjoy freedom and be the best canine companion his people can imagine. “Excellence is achieved by the mastery of the fundamentals” Vince Lombardi.

Milo’s people have been doing their homework and it shows. Milo is about eight months old now and he has not been the easiest puppy! He is a confident and very pushy pup. I am so proud of their dedication to succeed and have the best canine companion possible. They rise to every challenge I give them until they are successful. Team Milo Rocks🤩
Oreo
Good morning 😃 Getting in an early workout💪🏼 Oreo & Rocky are now “dancing” solo☺️ And to think only 2 weeks ago, Oreo was was very timid of the treadmill. Rocky has been a great mentor for her🥰 Enjoy your day everyone!!

Hobie 10. 17. 23.
Working Hobie at Carlsbad Beach this evening. There are a lot of dog distractions and we are working on being able to focus on me and not them because he has a history of overreacting and being very inappropriate when dogs walk by. I am very proud of how he did tonight. This is the end of week two and one more week to go of his board and train program. Go Team Hobie 😎

Good morning, here are a couple of very functional commands I am starting to work Hobie on every morning: Place and Come into Heel. I condition them into a pattern game. Dogs pick up on patterns easily. I start out inside my house where the distractions are familiar and when he is showing me that he is getting the sequence, then I will move it out to my backyard and then out to the front yard and then on walks. Team Hobie 🤓
Hobie is 18 months old and has been with me for 11 days for my board and train program. I took him to Lowe’s for the first time to see where we are at in our training so assessing where we are strong and where we need some more work. We still have another week and a half and I think he is coming along very nicely.
Hobie came to me needing leash and house manners. He was quite reactive on leash and pulled like a banshee. He is a young adolescent that had no boundaries or impulse control and a nice habit of counter surfing🏄🏻♂️
He is an awesome dog, and so much fun to work with! Team Hobie💙
Charlie 🩵
Testing Charlie’s recall out at the park before he goes home tomorrow. I am using the Tone button on an E Collar Technology Collar. He is also conditioned on the stimulation, if needed. He lives on a spacious property and needs a reliable recall because of the wildlife that passes through. I also conditioned him to come to the sound of a referee type whistle. It is always a good idea to have options because a recall can mean the difference between life or death in a dogs life. Charlie has done outstanding during his board and train program and tomorrow, I will be passing the baton back to his owners to carry on his progress. I will continue to work with them during his follow up lessons.
Team Charlie 🤩
Charlie is no longer afraid of the whistle and has made some great progress this week! WAHOO!
Be kind, Be patient, Have a plan & Change will happen 😌

Charlie
Here is a short before and after video of Charlie learning to Come to the sound of a whistle. In the beginning, he was extremely sound sensitive as you can see in the before video. It took about a week of consistent and persistent work getting him used to the sound of the whistle. I also used the “power of the pack” of dogs I have here this week to help him gain confidence. You’ll see in the after video that he has clarity of what the sound of the whistle means and will continue get better from here. He lives on a large piece of property and needs to have a reliable Come command.

Have you ever wondered how to get your dog to stand with all four paws on Paw Pods, especially, the back paws? Well, here are some of the steps I took to get 1 year old Millie to do just that. This is a good way to exercise your dog, both mentally and physically. It is also excellent for
proprioception, body awareness.

Getting some good distance now on my board and train dog, Sevro, on his recall.

Little Miss Lorelai went home today from her two week board and train. She was an awesome student and will continue to be so because she is only 8 1/2 months old and she has fabulous owners who will keep up her training. I will continue to work with them because they have follow up lessons that are included in her board and train program. This little girl rocks and has a bright & adventurous future ahead of her!
