Yesterday I attempted my first photoshoot after a few years, and clearly I'm quite rusty. 🤪

Not happy with how these came out so I'll be redoing this shoot in a few days. Attempted using the reflective background but I think I prefer matte... what are your guys' thoughts?
Still wanted to share a few, so here they are.

Pictured are two of the boys here at the rattery; CFR Sullivan (Black Marten Berkshire with Dragon-eye) and CFR Rigel (Russian Blue (torti?) Berkshire - the lighting is making him look mink... need to fix that).
Agnes is due any day now so I didn't want to disturb her with photos. Any guesses on litter size? I say 9!

ᴍᴏɴᴛʜʟʏ ᴀɢᴇɴᴅᴀ:

↳ The second group of breeder rats from CFR will be arriving in just 9 days! 3 bucks and 3 does who will start our snowflake (now re-named to 'dappled') line, agouti-based line, and rex line. More info on these eventual lines can be found on our website!

↳ Athena is due with her first litter early this month. Availability will be limited as Athena is from a project line - but be sure to stick around for some adorable baby pics!

↳ Although we originally planned to open the waitlist last month, we've decided to postpone it to May due to having only one litter. We will be reaching out to all those that have filled out our adoption form.

↳ Our second quarantine will be starting this month for the new rats. 3 weeks is the usual standard we go by, but if there are any suspicions of a virus, it will be extended to 6 weeks.

↳ I intend to get photos of all the rats at the rattery at some point this month, including the babies. Bear with me, it'll be quite a job!

This month's board is rather empty, but still some notable mentions!

ᴍᴏɴᴛʜʟʏ ᴀɢᴇɴᴅᴀ:

↳ The second group of breeder rats from CFR will be hopping on transport this month to embark their 2 week journey to Florida! 3 bucks and 3 does who will start our snowflake line, agouti-based line, and rex line. More info on these eventual lines can be found on my website!

↳ Agnes will be paired with Sullivan late this month, as long as her weight is suitable. Availability will be very limited for this litter as Agnes is not only from a project line, but is also new to me. Therefore, many babies will be held back or not be suitable for adoption.

↳ I will be starting a 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭 waitlist this month for the next few litters. Be sure to submit my adoption form if you'd like to be added, and I will reach out with more information.

↳ Our quarantine ends this month! For those that missed yesterdays' post, my rats unfortunately arrived with SDAV from the transport. Quarantine will be ending in just a couple weeks and we can carry on as usual, hurray!

Hello everyone, update time!

I am over a month late to posting this (𝘸𝘩𝘰𝘰𝘱𝘴!) but my first group* of new breeder rats have FINALLY arrived! 3 bucks and 2 does, who are being added to the website.

Sadly, the rats picked up SDAV (𝘢𝘬𝘢, 𝘳𝘢𝘵 𝘤𝘰𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘳𝘶𝘴) on the transport. I take this seriously and have been under a strict quarantine. The good news is, SDAV is self-limiting and can be "burnt out" of a rattery as long as there are no new litters or rats for 6 or more weeks. It's not difficult to get rid of, it's merely a waiting game. Therefore, all rats bred at my rattery will be SDAV-free once my QT is up!

My rats had a rough 2 weeks in the beginning, but are now nearly fully recovered. They have all been on doxycycline and enrofloxacin 2x a day for the past 3 weeks to treat their secondary infections, and I will likely be going for 1-2 more weeks for good measure. Following this, they will be used as my foundation stock with no concerns.

With all that said, a massive thank you to ᴄʟᴏᴠᴇʀꜰɪᴇʟᴅ ʀᴀᴛᴛᴇʀʏ 🇨🇦 for trusting me with her lines. I am so grateful to have found a breeder with such similar ideals to my own. Even though the rats arrived sick (And this is NO fault of ᴄꜰʀ, just simply the risk that comes with transport), brighter days are certainly ahead! ☀️

*I do have another group of rats arriving the first week of May, (two of the boys are pictured below - photo credit to ᴄʟᴏᴠᴇʀꜰɪᴇʟᴅ ʀᴀᴛᴛᴇʀʏ!). I will be doing a proper quarantine before they are added to the rattery, and after that point, I do not intend to bring in any more new rats to protect the health integrity of my rattery.

Hello everyone, long time no see!

This may come as a shock to some of you (while others may have been expecting this! 🤫) but I am pleased to announce that the rattery is in the process of being reopened. 🎉

Behind the scenes, I've been planning and rebuilding the rattery from scratch. It is a long (expensive) undertaking, but plans are in the works.

What's being changed? A lot of things. The way I hold reservations, the varieties I work with, pricing, my adoption requirements... expect a large overhaul to the rattery in the coming months. I do plan to get registered next year, and I also plan on yearly serology testing. My rattery will still operate as a closed rattery once all breeders are shipped in.

All in all, I am truly thrilled to be able to pursue this hobby of mine. I can't wait to resume breeding the squishy, loveable rodents we all love so much. ❤️

Stay tuned!
