Did you know July 5th is the busiest day of the year for U.S. animal shelters because of fearful pets running off during fireworks? Keep your pets safe, secure, and comfortable. Consider leashing or leaving them in the house. If your pet is in need of their calming medication, please reach out as soon as possible for a refill. Our clinic will be closed on Thursday, July 4th.

This is a great post from Antigo Veterinary Clinic. While we hope you never have to use this information, it is very important to keep on hand in case of a pet emergency. Please consider saving it to your phone. Have a safe and fun summer. ☀️

Pet Parents:
Here's a list of the Veterinary Emergency clinics in Wisconsin. There are 16 locations total, spanning the Fox Cities, Wausau, Eau Claire, Madison and Milwaukee areas.
As the summer comes along and there are more tourists bringing pets up North, it's best to be prepared as vet clinics keep getting busier.
Local ER centers sometimes get to capacity (Blue Pearl Appleton and Green Bay, Paw Health Network) and have no choice but to turn people away or recommend that you go to a location FURTHER AWAY.
None of us are happy about this situation but it's no one person's fault. There are just not enough veterinarians and veterinary support staff to accommodate everyone.
Be prepared if you have to travel - it sucks but it's todays reality if a pet needs urgent care.

🌾 It's that time of year! 🌾
You may notice these red spots on your dogs' bellies after being outside. They are a type of fly bite that dogs typically get from laying in grass. Although they appear concerning, these bites tend to heal quickly on their own. If you have any questions, please feel free to call the clinic. We are happy to help!

Have you checked out the Oconto Falls Dog Park yet? It is that time of year again and dogs are pretty excited about it! 🐶 Let's all do our part to keep this beautiful park clean, safe, and fun so everyone can enjoy it for years to come!
✅ Pick up p**p- Intestinal parasites can be transferred from dog to dog and even to humans. Gross, we know. Please clean up after your pups.
✅ Vaccinations- All dogs are legally required to be vaccinated for rabies, but there are other vaccinations available to keep them protected while out in the environment and around other dogs. Please give us a call if you have questions about your options! (920) 848-4280
✅ Socialization- Always be aware of what your dog is doing and who they are interacting with while in the park. Please make wise choices if you are uneasy about how your pup will interact with other dogs or humans to ensure everyone's safety.
