The cycle.
Female begins cycling follicles.
When, haha, that’s up to her.
Follicles start about the size of bb’s, think air gun.
Typically females accept males around 15mm follicles, some will accept a male as early as about 12mm. Time from cycling to 12-15mm, every animal is different, some will sit at various sizes for a couple months before developing/growing follicles occurs. In a perfect world, about 3 months.
From 12-15mm, pairing 1
The next month, typically, follicles will have grown to 20mm, pairing 2
Then the third month, typically follicles are 25-30mm, last pairing.
Then she will ovulate the following month, month 4.
From ovulation to pre lay shed is about 14 days, some are faster some are a bit longer, 12-21 days.
Then from ovulation to eggs being laid is between 30-35 days, I typically see mine around day 32.
So from start to finish, 8-9 months.
Nothing is set in stone, some females won’t go their first season, some males won’t work their first season. Sometimes the pair doesn’t do anything, insert a new male and try the original male with a different female and boom success, sometimes, nope.
Was just thinking of a conversation I had today about rodent production and all that goes into that. Random thoughts after a long day in the rodent building. Sometimes, typically, maybe, my sh!t always works 😂😂.

I’m running a theory test on this clutch. Today is day 50, typically I wait until day 52 to pull the press n seal back. This female however held onto to eggs for an extra 5 days.
