Trump won.

It's time to mobilize. Know your neighbors. Build community support and check in with the women, q***r, and bipoc individuals around you. This is scary. Trump has flagrantly talked about militarizing and "taking back" the cities "taken over" by the "enemy within". The woke. A buzz word that encapsulates everything from CRT to sesame street. Trump wants to re-enact the act that allowed for the Japanese internment camps during WW2. An act that allowed putting American citizens in concentration camps. He has said he wants generals as loyal as hitlers generals. Project 2025 outlines how they will replace all government workers with Trump loyalists. He has literally said that if he were to become president again that his supporters would "never have to vote again." What do you think thats implying!? THIS SHOULD BE RINGING ALARM BELLS!!!

This comes from on Twitter. A humanitarian organization that's operating in Palestine. They do not know where her or, the team that was meant to retrieve her, are.

"💔This is a picture of the 6 years old girl Hind who remained trapped inside a vehicle fired upon by the occupation forces, resulting in the martyrdom of everyone inside (6 individuals). Hind remained for hours pleading for our teams to reach her and evacuate her from the area surrounded by Israeli tanks.

📌For more than three hours, the PRCS team maintained communication with the 6-year-old girl Hind, soothing her amidst her continuous pleas for evacuation from the vehicle.

📌Coordination was established through the Palestinian Coordination and Liaison Office with Israeli authorities to dispatch A PRCS ambulance to the location.

📌Around 6:00 PM, our teams reached the area where Hind was trapped inside the vehicle, which had been shot near the Fares petrol station in Gaza. Since then, we lost contact with the team, and as of now, we are uncertain if our teams successfully reached the girl.

📌Hind, was with her extended family (her mother's uncle) when the vehicle was shot. She remained alone inside the vehicle after everyone in it, including the mother, father, and four children tragically lost their lives."

Palestinians are still getting massacred and mutilated. They're still losing their families and homes. Their children and parents. Brothers and sisters. On Twitter it is not censored. I cannot scroll through Twitter without seeing gored children. This is people's realities. This is the reality for too many children.

Mothers are giving birth without any of the proper care that we can access in the US. Woman are having to undergo C-Sections with no pain killer, no antibiotics, nothing.

Able bodied poeple are working tirelessly every day to pull the bodies of their loved ones, neighbors, and friends out of the rubble. Hoping to find some alive.

All of them are getting brutally mutilated and/or traumatized. There needs to be an instant Ceasefire. Call for a Ceasefire. Keep pushing our representatives to call for a Ceasefire.

5 days EMERGENCY Siberian huskies and pups https://classifieds.ksl.com/listing/73584667

None of them are spayed or neutered. Here's the description the owner gave me;

Anita is the red standard coat. She's 8 years old

She's had a past, we adopted her sister as an adult and her sister was so aggressive and attacked her. So we separated them in different yards and her sister broke out of her yard and into the one Anita was in and attacked her badly. She had to get stitches on her face so she does have some scars. We rehomed her sister after that as it just wasn't going to work out. Her sister was pure white so she had a thing for white dogs. She will try to attack them. I think she got traumatized. After that shes been female aggressive. She gets along with males great though.

She's crate trained, potty trained, and she knows place and stay. She lays, rolls over/plays dead, jumps, spins, and speaks. She also really loves people and always wants to be around us. She's an active girl We took her on runs with our bike and pulled us on a scooter.

Nova is the wooly agouti. She's about 2 I believe.

She's a sweet heart she loves toys and getting all the loves. She's very vocal and loves to talk. She's crate trained and potty trained.

Stormy is the black and white she's about 1.5

She's very shy at first but warms up and is a big lover. She's vocal and loves to talk. She's not potty trained.

Mika is the red wooly she's about 4

She's so sweet and loves getting brushed and Beth's you too keep going. She's always by my side. She's potty trained, crate trained and sits. She loves kids too.

Our two male pups are about 5-6 months I think

They're shy at the start but warm up. We haven't gotten to train them yet but I'm sure they'd learn fast.

Happy holidays and a TSA

I understand the temptation to buy an animal during the holidays. I understand the impulse to want to buy a puppy or kitten. But when buying an animal always keep in mind that what you pay initially is only a down payment. You will have to be ready to pay for regular care as well as emergencies. Most of these animals will have a lifespan past 10 so you must be prepared to put time into your new loved one. You have to be ready to not only make the easy decisions but the hard. Understand that you will in most cases outlive your animals. So you have to ready yourself to make good with the time you have. Always do research on the breeds of animal you want to invest in and know your limit!

With all this in mind, this is not meant to dissuade folks from buying pets during these happy holidays but to remind those that may be more inclined to make a more impulsive decision. Always give yourself time to think over the pros and cons!

Another PSA that is not related to the above!

With the cold weather a lot of your local feral cats are looking for places to shelter from the freezing temps. A car hood or tires is a very tempting place to hide away. Be consciousness before you start your car!

MAINTAINING HIGH DRIVE DOGS

So you may hear people tell you that if you get a border collie, german shephard, husky, or any other high drive dog, that you must get ready to take that dog out on several walks a day and while that is somewhat true this is not the full picture.

You could walk a high energy dog in the morning and they will not be as tired as you expect. What helps with this? What's the missing peice? Enrichment and stimulation of the mind, not just the body. When you take your bordercollie on a walk, do some training on the walk. Practice some stay and recall. This can also be done at home and be exponentially more effective at working your high drive dog. A good way to do some day to day training to work your dog is by grabbing a cup out of their usual daily serving and feeding them their dog food through training. If they're picky try some cheese sticks, blocks of ham, or other high reward treats. Walk around the house doing your normal chores. While you're doing that you can mark and reward behaviors you like to see in your dog.

Besides actively training your working breed dog you can also provide enrichment! How do we do that? Well theres many ways to go about it. You can use a kong or other stuff toy and pack with treats or freeze brothe or peanutbutter in it. Though I do recommend supervising your dog with kong toys due to the risk of your dogs tongue or teeth getting stuck in the kong. There are also puzzle toys you can get at petco and petsmart. Those only work a couple of times before they become routine for your pooch. Another idea is a snuffle matt! You can buy specially made shuffle Matt's or you can stop by your local Walmart and get those rugs with the soft bristles. You simply throw some treats into the rug or Matt and the dog will have to sniff around and find the food. Another good way to stimulate their sense of smell is by getting a box and filling it with open tubbaware/smaller boxes/paper bags and treats. This excersize also helps channel a dogs more destructive tendencies(if it's a form of play for them. Not all destructive behavior is caused by boredom. Most destructive behaviour is caused by anxiety) which leads me to another fun form of enrichment! Cabbage. This one sounds strange but you're basically giving your dog a ball of wrapping paper that they can eat. This allows a safe way for your dog to tear something apart and it usually takes up a good bit of time.

You should always try and find a way to provide mental stimulation for your working dog! If your pooch has daily enrichment and mental stimulation than those 3 walks a day will be lowered to 1 or 2.

AFFORDABLE DOG TRAINING

DUE TO OUR UINTAH COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER ALMOST ALWAYS BEING FILLED WITH DOGS THAT NEED HOMES I WILL GIVE 3 FREE SESSIONS TO FAMILIES THAT CAN PROVIDE PROOF OF ADOPTION.

What do our curriculums look like? What do you and your pup gain from these courses? To better acquaint you with our program I have written up a guideline of what goals are made in each course and what the expected results of each course should be. These curriculums are not rigid or time restricted. Each dog and family learns at different speeds and requires focus on different skills. Therefore these are more so, loose guidelines. Your training is treated very unique to you and your dog and we make sure that at the end of our courses, a happy home remains.

Training only works if everyone in the home is on board!

Pricing
Evaluation: Free
Training session: $20
Commute: $15/30min

The puppy prep
A good starting point for new dog owners! This is where you come to set your young pup up for success. An evaluation is not necessary for this curriculum.

“Puppy 101”
The first couple of sessions are going to be primarily focusing on education for the owners and some early socialization. This is where we would talk about routines, kennel and potty training, handling conditioning, feeding, health, body language, puppy growth, fear periods and how to mark and reward with some of our more basic commands like sit, laydown, and stand. You will be provided the support in between sessions while you are figuring out all this puppy funny business. This course will help you better understand the stages your puppy will be going through as they get older and this will help you more easily maintain a new puppy at home.

“Safety first!!”
This is after we have done some learning and understand how to mark and reward behaviors we want to see and how to redirect from behaviors that aren’t so fun. We will begin to learn life saving things like touch, drop it, leave it, wait and impulse control. These behaviors are of high importance so therefore we push to learn those first so that way we have more time to reinforce these safe behaviors. This course is a must! You will learn life saving commands that will ultimately make everyone feel safer.

“Pupper etiquette”
This is where we move on to quality of life commands and manners such as “on” and “off”, “kennel”/”place”, “stay”, proper greeting, desensitization to strangers in the home, doorbells, knocking, and leash walking. This is when we would start to socialize your puppy to the new, strange, and often scary things. This course will help create a more cooperative culture between your puppy and the household!

“It’s a field day!”
This is by far my favorite part of this course. We get to go on field trips!! This is when we take you and your pup to pet friendly spaces and socialize them. This means getting them used to scary sounds, people, other animals, and dogs. This activity will be a great preventative for reactivity.

“Graduation!”
And finally once you and your pup have mastered the skills and communication to be successful you both will be rewarded with a certificate of completion and a little gift from us to you as a thank you and congratulations to an awesome team!

Canine College
These are all optional parts of this curriculum. This curriculum is for both dogs who have taken The Puppy prep and for those who are just joining us! Most of our training is more specialized to your needs so these are simply to give you an idea of what we have to offer.

“Recap”
This is the start for more advanced obedience. We need to first recap on the basics and make sure that everyone is caught up to speed. We will spend this time getting a good idea of what your goals are as a pet parent and what you want for your dog. This course is more specially tailored to your household needs and wants! This course is a good way to give us a good idea of how both you and your dog learn and how we can best serve you.

“Extracurriculars!!”
A good couple of sessions just to establish socialization and build that confidence up. It is all about having fun and getting your dog comfortable with the new, strange, and sometimes scary.

“Shaping up”
So we have gone over the basics and have caught up with our studies. It is time to start challenging ourselves. This is where we start finding areas that your dog may struggle with and work on those skills. We start building on top of those skills that your dog has. Does your dog do a pretty decent stay? Ok great, let's make it a down stay and teach him the difference between a release, reward, and recall. Does your dog do a good touch recall? Let’s shape that into a bomb proof ecollar(Using vibrate or beep only) recall. So when you’re in the wilderness you know your dog will come when called. This is beneficial if you have some skill that you would like to specifically build up or if you just want to see some improvements all around.

“Rally”
This is where we go at a faster pace. You and your pooch know what you’re doing and we’re going to put your team to the test. You and your dog will learn to move as a team and communicate with one another in a way that works for the both of you. You will move as a unit and be confident with one another. Trust will be the key and you have spent this whole time building it between the both of you. This is simply put, an amazing way to bond and build trust in your team. It’s a fun time for you both and this course really is just meant to be fun.

Behavior Modification
Behavior modification is for dogs that are struggling with reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, resource guarding, bite cases and so much more. This course does not have a curriculum written up until the client is evaluated. Then a specialized behavior modification plan is written up for the household. Each dog has different reasons for acting out the way they do. So each dog needs to be trained differently. My behavior modification techniques focus on the why and the source of the issue which in many cases is underlying fear, anxiety, or lack of confidence. This kind of training takes time in order to truly resolve the source of the issue. Understand that we are here for you and we only want the best for you and your dog. I want you to understand that you should not let yourself feel guilty or ashamed. These struggles are more common than you think and reaching out for help is a great first step. We all make mistakes, what’s important is that we learn from them. Please know that we will not judge you and only want to help.

ADOPT AND SHOP RESPONSIBLY!

Adoption can be considered a very honorable route to go because you are taking a dog out of the shelter setting. Most dogs that come out of a shelter setting often times have health and behavioral issues that take a lot of patience and time to work through.

That being the reason why it is also valid to shop responsibly. Some families and individuals cannot handle the issues that come with a rescue dog or simply do not want to deal with it. And that's ok! A well bred dog is bred with a purpose and/or temperament in mind. For instance a family may need a more mellow breed that can handle the excitement of children and they don't have too much experience with dogs. They should look into breeds such as a bichon Frise due to them being bred for the purpose of being companion dogs and not having a high demand for fitness they would make an excellent breed for a first time dog owning family.

So what does responsible buying look like? Here's some red flags to tell you NOT to buy;

•Puppy is in a pet or dog shop. Most puppies in shops come from puppy mills. No good breeder is going to send their pup to a shop where they won't be able to screen the potential owner themselves.

•They seem to always have puppies available. Most responsible breeders should have homes lined up for them before they're ready to go home.

•Puppy is being sent home at 6 weeks. Puppies should be staying with their mother till 8 weeks so that they can gain that important social experience with their mother. Not only that but the breeder should be sending the pup out with their first round of shots.

•Won't show the area that the pups are being raised. This may not be so apparent. It may seem like it's "more convenient" for the seller to meet you in a parking lot. But if they're not willing to have you see the area the pups live. Wether through pictures or I'm person. Than I recommend staying clear.

•Seller does not have information on one or more of the parents.

•They charge more for different coat types. A breeder that's charging more for coat types will not do the due diligence to make sure that a pup finds a good home.

•Just because a dog is AKC Registered does not garentee their health or safety.

Things to look for in a good breeder;

•The breeder has a contract. A good breeder will have a contract to ensure the safety of you, them, and the pup they're giving to you. The contract will usually list procedures and instructions as to what to do in different situations.

•Has a waitlist

•Will pick the pup for you. NOW I know this sounds a little crazy but a good breeder will know their pups temperament and once getting to know you can have a better idea of which personality would fit your lifestyle better.

•If the dog is a purebred/akc registered. Ask the breeder if the parents have completed their OFA's. The OFA is a dog health database in which certain breeds are made to do certain health testing to verify that they will not pass down any bad genetics. The breeder should be able to give you the code to the OFA file that shows which health tests have been done and passed for the dam and sire. Breeders should have both parents health screened. Now for dogs that are not akc recognized, such as American pit bull terrior, Arctic spitz, or any doodle mix breed, they will not be able to be on the OFA. BUT! They should still have health tests that show that the parents are in good health.

•They should be interviewing you to make sure that you meet their criteria for a good pet home.

•One or both of the parents being proven in some kind of job or sport (not a requirement but it's a really good indicator).

•Has their own website!

•Has more than 1 image of the parents.

All in all. Breeders' prioritize shouldn't be "first come first serve". The pups health should always come first!

Adoption is honorable but you should be prepared financially and emotionally for the health issues that often times a shelter dog will often have.

Ultimately do whats best for your family and for dogs out there.

DOG IN NEED OF HOME

Heya! So I have a friend who has recently rescued a 7 year old female German shephard named princess, out of a neglect situation. She is in need of a new home. She had been overbred for years and had eventually been left outside in a metal kennel for days while she sat in her own manure. So far the only behavioral issues she seems to be dealing with is the Isolation anxiety. She's very sweet and calm. Sence she is an older dog you will need to be prepared to pay for medical expenses and be ready to be patient with her as she ages.

DOG TRAINING TOOLS AND THEIR UTILITY.

Here's something that I feel isn't a talking point in regards to raising and training dogs.

Tools are not inherently good or bad. It's the way in which you use them in your dog's training. A tool is not the solution, it's a tool! A hammer can't fix a loose post. You need nails, sometimes wood glue, a level, and your time and patience.

The same can be said about dogs. For example. One of my clients has a great dane pup whos just learning his leash manners. Putting a head halter on the dog will not solve the problem. BUT it will make it easier on the owner and on him while they do the proper leash training. Because he is so big already he is able to pull around his mom no problem. So in order to give the mom more control and therefore make the situation safer. We put a head halter on him.

We train him proper positioning like we would any other client. Mark and reward whenever he is in the placement you prefer and when you catch him looking at you. To create volunteery engagement and bridge to gap of communication between owner and dog.

This process is made safer and easier with the head halter.

If we had just put the head halter on him and said "problem solved" than the mom would have to be constantly pulling or having a tight hold on the leash to have him where she'd want. Yes it would be made easier with the head halter but his tugging issue would not be solved because he would receive no reinforcement or communication as to what she wants from him. So he learns nothing from the experience.

Harnesses and other "stop pulling" options don't fix the issue but can be utilized in the process of training.

Some tools have multiple uses! Like a muzzle. A muzzle can be great for dogs that are reactive but can also be great for dogs that have allergies. Some service dogs have muzzles to keep strangers from non-consent touching or petting of the working animal. As long as the muzzle is sized properly and fits the dog comfortably a muzzle is not harmful.

But I digress. All in all, do research into training techniques before bringing a tool into the situation. It's ok if you need tools in the process but just know they won't "fix" your dog. Training and patience will.

Make sure to do research into the specific tools you want to you use. For instance. Prong collars should be placed at the top of the neck and should not hang loosely to minimize risk or injury. Slip leads and pull chains should be positioned in a Q before being placed on the dog so that the lead or chain can naturally slack so it doesn't continue to put pressure on the neck.

If you have any opinions, experiences, and/or questions I'd love to hear it all.
