AFFORDABLE DOG TRAINING
DUE TO OUR UINTAH COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER ALMOST ALWAYS BEING FILLED WITH DOGS THAT NEED HOMES I WILL GIVE 3 FREE SESSIONS TO FAMILIES THAT CAN PROVIDE PROOF OF ADOPTION.
What do our curriculums look like? What do you and your pup gain from these courses? To better acquaint you with our program I have written up a guideline of what goals are made in each course and what the expected results of each course should be. These curriculums are not rigid or time restricted. Each dog and family learns at different speeds and requires focus on different skills. Therefore these are more so, loose guidelines. Your training is treated very unique to you and your dog and we make sure that at the end of our courses, a happy home remains.
Training only works if everyone in the home is on board!

The puppy prep
A good starting point for new dog owners! This is where you come to set your young pup up for success. An evaluation is not necessary for this curriculum.
“Puppy 101”
The first couple of sessions are going to be primarily focusing on education for the owners and some early socialization. This is where we would talk about routines, kennel and potty training, handling conditioning, feeding, health, body language, puppy growth, fear periods and how to mark and reward with some of our more basic commands like sit, laydown, and stand. You will be provided the support in between sessions while you are figuring out all this puppy funny business. This course will help you better understand the stages your puppy will be going through as they get older and this will help you more easily maintain a new puppy at home.
“Safety first!!”
This is after we have done some learning and understand how to mark and reward behaviors we want to see and how to redirect from behaviors that aren’t so fun. We will begin to learn life saving things like touch, drop it, leave it, wait and impulse control. These behaviors are of high importance so therefore we push to learn those first so that way we have more time to reinforce these safe behaviors. This course is a must! You will learn life saving commands that will ultimately make everyone feel safer.
“Pupper etiquette”
This is where we move on to quality of life commands and manners such as “on” and “off”, “kennel”/”place”, “stay”, proper greeting, desensitization to strangers in the home, doorbells, knocking, and leash walking. This is when we would start to socialize your puppy to the new, strange, and often scary things. This course will help create a more cooperative culture between your puppy and the household!
“It’s a field day!”
This is by far my favorite part of this course. We get to go on field trips!! This is when we take you and your pup to pet friendly spaces and socialize them. This means getting them used to scary sounds, people, other animals, and dogs. This activity will be a great preventative for reactivity.
“Graduation!”
And finally once you and your pup have mastered the skills and communication to be successful you both will be rewarded with a certificate of completion and a little gift from us to you as a thank you and congratulations to an awesome team!
Canine College
These are all optional parts of this curriculum. This curriculum is for both dogs who have taken The Puppy prep and for those who are just joining us! Most of our training is more specialized to your needs so these are simply to give you an idea of what we have to offer.
“Recap”
This is the start for more advanced obedience. We need to first recap on the basics and make sure that everyone is caught up to speed. We will spend this time getting a good idea of what your goals are as a pet parent and what you want for your dog. This course is more specially tailored to your household needs and wants! This course is a good way to give us a good idea of how both you and your dog learn and how we can best serve you.
“Extracurriculars!!”
A good couple of sessions just to establish socialization and build that confidence up. It is all about having fun and getting your dog comfortable with the new, strange, and sometimes scary.
“Shaping up”
So we have gone over the basics and have caught up with our studies. It is time to start challenging ourselves. This is where we start finding areas that your dog may struggle with and work on those skills. We start building on top of those skills that your dog has. Does your dog do a pretty decent stay? Ok great, let's make it a down stay and teach him the difference between a release, reward, and recall. Does your dog do a good touch recall? Let’s shape that into a bomb proof ecollar(Using vibrate or beep only) recall. So when you’re in the wilderness you know your dog will come when called. This is beneficial if you have some skill that you would like to specifically build up or if you just want to see some improvements all around.
“Rally”
This is where we go at a faster pace. You and your pooch know what you’re doing and we’re going to put your team to the test. You and your dog will learn to move as a team and communicate with one another in a way that works for the both of you. You will move as a unit and be confident with one another. Trust will be the key and you have spent this whole time building it between the both of you. This is simply put, an amazing way to bond and build trust in your team. It’s a fun time for you both and this course really is just meant to be fun.
Behavior Modification
Behavior modification is for dogs that are struggling with reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, resource guarding, bite cases and so much more. This course does not have a curriculum written up until the client is evaluated. Then a specialized behavior modification plan is written up for the household. Each dog has different reasons for acting out the way they do. So each dog needs to be trained differently. My behavior modification techniques focus on the why and the source of the issue which in many cases is underlying fear, anxiety, or lack of confidence. This kind of training takes time in order to truly resolve the source of the issue. Understand that we are here for you and we only want the best for you and your dog. I want you to understand that you should not let yourself feel guilty or ashamed. These struggles are more common than you think and reaching out for help is a great first step. We all make mistakes, what’s important is that we learn from them. Please know that we will not judge you and only want to help.
