Today is a big day here at the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. We are excited to announce the newest members of our K9 unit. Deputy Gullo and K9 Murphy were recently certified in narcotics detection.

K9 Murphy is a Belgian Malinois and she is turning 2 years old today. Congratulations to both of you and a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY MURPHY!!!.

The 3 D’s of dog training: duration, distractions, and distance. This short training session covered bed, impulse control, recalls, and problem solving. And included our 3 D’s. Atta boy Brick! Huge shout out to SnubNose Rottweilers for producing such a great dog. Genetics matter!

EIGHTEEN Service Dogs in total worked with us in public yesterday performing tasks. Our Advanced Service Dog Class worked in the airport, riding the shuttle, elevators, escalators, waiting in lines, tucking under benches, and ignoring many many distractions.

Our Introduction to Service Dogs Class worked in the mall, tucking under the table in the food court, walking loosely on a leash, ignoring distractions, and performing mitigating measures for their owners. MONTHS of daily training and hard work is paying off.

We are extremely proud of everyone ❤️❤️❤️
