Louis was in today for a wellness visit along with his little sister, Sassy.

Louis is a breed we don’t get to meet everyday- he is a Komondor- a Hungarian livestock guardian dog.

He is 3 years old, 110 #, very sweet, and very fond of the liver treats. 🐾 ❤️🐾❤️🐾❤️

It's almost the season for fireworks!🎆
Fireworks can be scary for our furry friends. These cuties are wearing adorable ear covers that help with noise anxiety and could be helpful for events like vet visits or fireworks and thunder storms!

We recommend looking into the Adaptil line of anxiety collars, thundershirts, ear covers and calming pheromone plug-ins! We also recommend meeting with your Vet now to get anti-anxiety meds or mild sedation meds for July!❤️🤍💙

🌩️ Thunderstorm season is upon us, and firework season is fast approaching. Keep an eye on this page to learn how to help your pets stay safe and comfortable during this noisy time of year.

🏠 All animals need a place where they feel safe and can decompress. A safe zone is a special new area we'll create together for your dog. We may use a gate or pen to create this new area, or start with a new crate or bed. You and your trainer will discuss the most appropriate place to designate as a safe zone for your pet. The goal is to build lots of positive associations in this new area so your pet loves their new spot.

The safe zone should have:
🛏️ An extra comfy bed/blanket
🌬️ An Adaptil diffuser
🔇 A noise buffer
🍗 A high value, long lasting food dispensing toy such as a stuffed Kong or a snuffle mat sprinkled with chopped up hot dogs or cheese, unless your pup will guard this resource.

First, condition your pup to relax on their new bed (see relaxation handout). Then, every day, place your dog in the safe zone for 5-10 minutes with high value treats in a food puzzle (e.g., stuffed Kong) to help create a conditioned positive emotional response to this whole area.

This month we wanted to Spotlight Ashley, one of our incredible vet techs!

Ashley is from Maui, Hawaii🌸 Now she lives in Utah with her boyfriend and their two dogs. They recently added a cat into their family as well!🐾 Ashley is SO hard working! She serves in the military as a staff sergeant and goes to Weber State University in addition to working at Burch Creek! Ashley loves working out and playing video games in her free time and loves anything cookies and creme🖤🤍

If you've been to Burch Creek, there's a good chance Ashley has been your tech or helped with your pet a time or two. She's adored by all the staff, clients, and pets! Ashley is always happy and smiling, bringing a warm presence.💖

This month we wanted to Spotlight our co-owner and veterinarian: Dr. Sharon Klar!

Dr. Klar is from Michigan and moved to Ogden, Utah with her husband, Dr. Matthew Klar. She's an amazing veterinarian, but she's also a talented artist. She enjoys Ariel silks, drawing, and literature.🎨📚 Dr. Klar also loves spending as much time in nature as possible and even more so with her husband and their three children!

Dr. Klar has been working at Burch Creek since 2015. Her special interests in Veterinary Medicine include allergies and dermatology, soft-tissue surgery, and Internal Medicine. She believes in a holistic and nurturing approach to Veterinary health care. She is incredible at making everyone from the staff to the clients and patients feel special and cared for!💖

💫Saturday Spotlight💫

This month we wanted to Spotlight one of our amazing technicians: Kira!

Kira has been working at Burch Creek for over 2 years. She is not only an incredible vet tech, but also one of our surgery techs! Kira loves reading, playing video games, and watching movies/t.v.- especially anime! She has two dogs of her own, Lottie and Scamp, and a fiancé she loves!

Kira is our unofficial diabetic "specialist" as she herself has diabetes. She is always willing to help families by spreading her knowledge and experiences! (See the first photo of Kira showing of her matching glucose monitor with Miss Lilly-Belle)💖

We are incredibly thankful for Kira and everything she does for us!

It’s a great slow feeding tool if your dog eats really fast (fill it with their dry dog food)or you can fill it with small treats like Bowie here is working to get out.
