November is Senior Pet Care Awareness Month 🚨

For the month of November, we like to honor our senior pets by giving them a little extra special care and attention 🀩🫢🏼 Being a β€œsenior” can vary by size and breed. Typically cats are seniors at 10 years, small dogs at 9 years and large dogs at 7 years. Being proactive and getting your pet in for wellness exams more often is the best way to early detect any potential problems. We recommend getting them seen twice a year. Especially if your pet is a breed that is prone to cancer.

Ginger (12 1/2 year old Golden Retriever) and Luna (14 1/2 Pomeranian mix) both came in for a senior wellness visit with Dr. Richardson on Friday. Both owners approved a comprehensive wellness panel that includes 25 chemistries, CBC and checking thyroid levels. WooHoo πŸŽ‰ We receive so much valuable information from running bloodwork! If you have any senior pet questions, give us a call and we can get you scheduled with our awesome vets! 😊

Can’t forget about our little guys 🚨

πŸ¦œπŸ’πŸ‡πŸ September is Animal Pain Awareness Month! When you care for an exotic pet, it's important to know the signs that indicate they could be suffering.

Be on the lookout for these postures and behaviors and contact your veterinarian if you think your pet is in pain. ❌ Never try to treat your pet with human medications since many are toxic to pets.

πŸ€ Learn more about pain in exotic pets in our webinar with Dr. La'Toya Latney, Senior Veterinarian in AMC's Avian & Exotic Pets Service. https://youtu.be/0jFMIGk9JKE?si=RCsbo8Nb3hWp16TV

Have a Fear Free Fourth! πŸŽ†πŸ‘

Fireworks during any holiday can be very stressful for pets. Here are some helpful tips and tricks to hopefully reduce some of that stress. Also a reminder to give us a call in order to get those medications beforehand!

Many pets go lost or missing during fireworks -they spook, panic and run away because they are terrified. Please be sure your pets are securely housed to prevent any injuries or missing pets, make sure they have identification (tags/collar) on and your microchip information is up to date.
