We’d like to officially announce our new Balto Program Canine Hero, Ranger.

Ranger’s Legacy: A True Community Hero

Meet Ranger, a 9-year-old bloodhound who served Davis County for 9 incredible years before retiring in July 2024. As the county’s first police bloodhound, Ranger worked alongside his dedicated handler, Sergeant Boyle, forming a team that tracked suspects, found missing children, and assisted countless agencies.

Ranger’s journey began as a pup with a natural talent for trailing, eventually leading him to train extensively and become a trusted partner in law enforcement. His unique reward? Oreo cookies! Over his career, Ranger tracked over 173 miles, located 83 suspects, and reunited families by finding 6 missing children.

Beyond his work, Ranger became a beloved figure in the community, attending over 120 events and winning hearts with his floppy ears and quirky personality. Now retired, Ranger enjoys a slower pace of life but still perks up when he hears sirens or visits the station.

Ranger’s impact on our community and law enforcement is immeasurable. Thank you for your service, Ranger—you’ve earned your Oreos and so much more!

🌟 Week One Update: Brit Goes Remote – Texas Edition! 🤠💻

Y’all, it’s been one whole week of Brit working remotely from the Lone Star State! While she’s soaking up that Texas sunshine (but missing the snow), she’s seriously missing her amazing team back home. 🐾❤️

But distance makes the heart grow fonder—and prouder! Brit can’t stop bragging about the incredible work her team continues to do for the sweet animals we’re so lucky to care for. 🐶🐱

Keep shining, team—you’re making Brit proud all the way from Texas! 💪✨

We understand that emergencies can be stressful and unexpected, both emotionally and financially. However, as a small business committed to providing the best care for your pets, we cannot offer payment plans or delayed payment options for services.

Unfortunately, we’ve found that many clients who received services without upfront payment did not follow through on repayment, requiring us to send accounts to collections. This takes away valuable resources that we could otherwise use to care for animals in need and maintain our practice.

To assist with financial challenges, we work with reputable third-party financing options, which you can apply for directly to manage unexpected expenses. Additionally, we strongly encourage pet owners to invest in pet insurance, which can provide peace of mind and financial security in times of need.

Our priority is to ensure your pets receive the care they deserve. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

And this is what a bait dog looks like 😢…

When you give your animals away to people you don't know, they are at risk of being tortured like this poor, sweet boy.

PLEASE, always check vet references, and take the animal to the house yourself to see what type of home they'll be living in.

This poor baby is not a Hearts and Tails dog. Fortunately, he was just adopted from one of our fellow rescuers’ shelter, into a loving home where he will finally get to know what love is. ❤️

It was a busy day today for Dr. Hollingsworth, Brit, Autumn and Amanda! But well worth it when we can say that these kiddos are all spayed/neutered and available for forever homes!

They are ALL huge sweethearts❤️
