Most of you know my love of dogs.
If you treat a dog the way it treats you, you will never spend a day wondering what love and loyalty feels like.

You will awaken to a dog that is excited to see you. You will come home to a dog that is excited to see you.

You will sit down in your recliner to relax after a long day, look down into these loving eyes and think,”There’s room up here for both of us”.

This is Mitch. Mitch was abandoned near Highway 81 and rescued by one of our staff. He’s house broken, good with cats and an absolute joy to be around. He’s good on a leash and comes when called. He’s been to the vet and has had his updates. The vet says he’s about a year old.

If you need the never ending loyalty only a dog can provide, make Mitch part of your family. I can guarantee that this will be a dog you will never regret having in your life.

Is there anything better than a good dog?

Our dogs are family. They spend their lives as family members. There’s nothing we wouldn’t do for them.

Spent some time with Cooper checking pasture tonight after we closed. He’s a special kind of dog that I am lucky to have. Very loving, very attentive and totally devoted.

Graduation season is upon us.
Our youngest son will be graduating Saturday and we want only the best for him. We want him to pursue his dreams and we know he can accomplish anything.

He’s going to Iowa Western and studying automated robotics systems.

Is that his dream? I don’t know, and at 18, I know that he doesn’t know either.

What I do know is that it’s a pretty cheap trial run and when he gets done he will make enough money to be able to chase his actual dreams.

I really don’t think kids should go to college until they are old enough to understand what a $100k investment really means.

Most of the kids going to a major 4 year college will never realize a gain from their tuition.

We continue to tell our kids that you will be poor if you don’t get a 4 year degree. What we don’t tell them is that they will definitely be poor if they take out loans to get that 4 year degree.

I recently read that for every 5 plumbers that are retiring, only 2 are coming in to replace them.

I 100% believe the next generation of millionaires will come from the trades.

Act accordingly.

It definitely feels like spring out here on the plains of Nebraska.

This is Stoney. I bought him as a weanling almost 20 years ago. He’s worked cattle, roped bulls, moved thousands of cows probably hundreds of miles and was always a pleasure to be on.

He isn’t the fastest horse or the most athletic, but he was the most dependable.

I trusted this horse in the mountains of Colorado elk hunting, I’ve trusted him with kids, I’ve just trusted him because he always earned it.

Stoney has been retired since the brewery opened. I still spend a lot of time with him but I haven’t been on him since then.

We keep his feet trimmed because it’s the right thing to do and you just never know, maybe one of these days we’ll saddle up and go have a ride on a beautiful night like tonight.

No cows, no work, just a quiet ride to remember days long passed.

Lazy Horse is Nebraska's premiere destination brewery and winery. We have a fantastic staff that is second to none. We have incredible in-house benefits and a fun and friendly environment.
We are looking for individuals that want to work one or two days per weekend with flexible scheduling each weekend. Willing to train the right individual, no experience necessary.
Lazy Horse hours are Friday 4:00pm - 10:00pm, Saturday 3:00pm - 10:00pm and Sunday 3:00pm - 8:00pm. Pay is way beyond competitive.

The Lazy Horse family is in mourning. We lost one of our family this weekend and it has shaken every one of us. Carolyn was a fixture, she was one of our first hires. She was a friend, a leader and a trusted confidant here. If you had a problem, she was the steady hand to guide you through rough waters. We all will miss her. We will miss her wit and charm, her steady demeanor and her steadfast commitment to her friends.

Carolyn is a huge reason why Lazy Horse is what it is today. She’s a great cook, but that’s not it.
She was a great friend to those that needed one. She was trusted with insecurities that could only be shared with a very few.
Carolyn was a Godly woman and I know that her faith has led her to the divine promises of Heaven.

I am thankful I got to be a part of Carolyn’s life and that she was a part of mine. We will miss you, but we will also celebrate the great impact that you had on so many others.
