2 does have kid so far and we are buck heavy 4 to 1. Needless to say we will have some bucks/wethers available. Our 1 doeling will be a keeper out of Olliemae Farm TS Jasumin x Sonview Ranch Ryden. This year we are trying something a little different in the kid pen. I put our fridge directly in the pen with the door facing out and mounted 4 ni***es, 2 to each side. We will be feeding straight from the fridge and will be ditching the ice chest and cold packs. It gets way to hot here during the spring and summer and I don't want curdled milk in the lines. Here is to hoping our little fridge can keep herself cold enough during those hot days in the barn!

We were given an opportunity we just couldn't pass up when Teri at Sonview Ranch offered us a doeling out of the buck we purchased from her last year. Her herd is absolutely beautiful and knew we had to make it happen. Her dam is Sonview Ranch Renata out of the stunning GCH Sonview Ranch Lamia 9*M VEEE 90. The sire is our very own, Sonview Ranch Ryden and his dam Sonview Ranch Nazira 3*M VVVE 89. Nazira was 11th place at the 2023 ADGA Nationals out of 85 in the two year old class. We have been battling mastitis (pseudomonas arguinosa) in a goat for the last 6 months. I finally have the blog post done and the link is posted for anyone who is interested in our unconventional treatment. She is a long one so be prepared! Any questions leave a comment! Hope everyone enjoys.

"Mastitis" the word we all hate to hear. One of our goats was diagnosed with pseudomonas aeruginosa, the resistance test was performed and the bacteria came back resistant to all the antibiotics it was tested against. We were very much aware that she may have to be put down but I wanted to give something a try outside of the vets reccomendations (which were going to be pricey). We have spent the last several months treating her holistically to get her completely dried off. She has been dry now for 2 weeks with no fever and she is a healthy happy goat looking for a forever pet home(if anyone you know would be interested). I will be documenting our care/treatment plan and can share with anyone that may be interested. Obviously this may not help/work for every goat but it has definately worked out for us.

Our county fair is done and we had a really great show. 1st place showmanship, Champion junior doe, champion senior doe, grand champion doe and best doe in show. Our 4 year old Olliemae Farm TS Jasumin stole the show today!

It was a hot one but we stuck it out and it payed off big time! 1st place dairy goat showmanship, 2nd place pygmy goat showmanship, and Overall Reserve Champion Showman of all ages. We are ready for our local county fair. Thank you to everyone that made that show a success and to Reed Ranch Pygmies for letting us borrow Tony for the day!

Today was so much fun, my first time being able to judge a dairy goat showmanship class for a local club. I had a lot of fun and even got the chance to show a pygmy goat and a chicken! Thank you to the Rickett's and Reed Ranch Pygmies for letting me borrow your animals and to Jennifer for asking me to be a judge! A day I will not forget.

Ilenesrascals SC Harmonia has officially turned into a showmanship goat! She did great at the showmanship clinic last weekend. Getting all prepped for fair which will be the last show of the season before breeding begins.

Had lots of fun this weekend at the Motherlode Dairy Goat Association show. 1st place 4yo in both rings, 2nd and 3rd place for our 1yo milker and 9th of 17 in the yearling buckling class. Only a couple more shows and breeding season begins!
