Dear Ojai Horse Community,

We invite you to support our upcoming schooling show this weekend!
Your participation is essential to help us continue offering these cherished events that many have missed since ETI. We're dedicated to improving each show and building a vibrant community, but we can’t do it without you!

The rental fees for each show go toward maintaining and enhancing the arena facilities. Many of you have noticed the recent improvements, and that’s thanks to our commitment to renting the space. We want to ensure it remains a great venue for all of us to ride.

Additionally, there’s a pressing issue: the city is considering turning the Soule Park Arenas into a trailer/RV park. To preserve this historic part of Ojai and keep a space for equestrian events, we need to unite as a community.

Are you ready for our next Schooling Show! Each show we are building and adding more. This show we will be featuring higher jumps, we have shade over the bleachers (yay!) and we are working on getting a food vendor that the park will approve. Next month we will be adding some fun game type single and team classes and we will be featuring a costume contest! So start thinking up your and your horses costumes! We are so excited for all that we have coming up and we can’t wait to see you all there! Remember to bring your friends and family to watch you compete and cheer you on!

We're doing it again!
Our schooling show was such a big hit in May that we decided to keep the excitement going! Our next Schooling Show will be June 29th.
This is an open show for anyone to join. If this is your first experience with a schooling show, coaches are allowed to coach their students during the show. And we encourage it! This is a fun time to learn and grow as horse people.
We hope to see you and your friends and family there!

Recent studies conducted by the Institute of Heart-Math provide a clue to explain the two-way ′′healing′′ that occurs when we're close to horses.
According to researchers, the heart has an electromagnetic field larger than the brain: a magnetometer can measure the energy field of the heart that radiates from 2.4 meters to 3 meters around the human body.
While this is certainly significant, perhaps more impressive than the electromagnetic field projected by the heart of a horse is five times larger than that of a human being (imagine an electromagnetic sphere around the horse) and it can influence straight into our own heart rate.
Horses are also likely to have what science has identified as a "coherent′′ heart rate (heart rate pattern) that explains why we can feel better when we're close to them. Studies have found a coherent heart pattern or HRV to be a solid measure of well-being and consistent with emotional states of calm and joy-that is, we exhibit such patterns when we feel positive emotions.
A coherent heart pattern is indicative of a system that can recover and adapt to stressful situations very efficiently. Many times, we just need to be in the presence of horses to feel a sense of well-being and peace.
In fact, research shows that people experience many physiological benefits by interacting with horses, including lower blood pressure and heart rate, higher beta-endorphins (neurotransmitters acting as pain suppressors), decreased stress levels, decreased feelings of anger, hostility, tension and anxiety, better social working; and greater feelings of empowerment, confidence, patience and self-efficacy.
