TODAY'S THE DAY—the Walk for the Animals is finally here!

You can still register for the event in person, starting at 1 p.m. at Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge.

Attendees will have access to all of our activities from 1-4 p.m., including vendors, food trucks, doggy obstacle course, silent auction, scavenger hunt, and much more. Be sure not to miss the doggy costume contest at 2:30 p.m.!

We can’t wait to see you soon at the park!

We got plenty of puppy snuggles from Lucy today! This was their first time at Evergreen Okemos! Lucy received her puppy vaccines including, Distemper/Leptospirosis as well as her first Lyme vaccine! She did great and we can't wait to see her in 3-4 weeks for her boosters! 🥰🩷

Pets and Halloween Candy These treats are especially dangerous to pets, so please keep them out of reach! Chocolate – contains Theobromine, which can be harmful/fatal. Baking chocolate is exceptionally high in this chemical. Candies & Gum – The biggest concern is that they contain the artificial sweetener xylitol. Most often, it is found in sugar-free gum, candy, & baked goods, toothpaste and peanut butter. Hard Candies - Large quantities can clump up in the stomach and cause obstruction. Raisins & Grapes– can cause renal failure. Candy Wrappers – can become lodged in throat or intestinal tract. foil or cellophane wrappers may result in gastrointestinal irritation. If a pet consumes these, please contact a vet or a pet poison line immediately. Quick treatment can minimize the danger to your pet.

Green Easter Idea During a time of celebrating rebirth and renewal, keep in mind that some practices are better for our Earth's ecosystem than others. Our ecosystem supports all life on Earth. Here's a wildlife friendly idea & a fun family tradition to start! Sowing Seeds Instead of plastic toys, give seeds and gardening supplies. Bonus for planting the seeds in eggshell planters! Eggshells are biodegradable, supply the growing plant with nutrients, can be placed directly in the soil at transplant time, and are free to those of us that already eat eggs. Great seed choices to start indoors are Zinnias, Calendula and Nasturtium. You can also try Cucumbers, Squash, Melons and Beans. Help the pollinators Did you know that many seeds marketed to home gardeners are treated with neonicotinoids (a class of chemicals that are harmful to pollinators)?
