Meet Ruby! She is a 3-year-old, 12 lb cockapoo with special needs who is ready to find her forever family!💓

This sweet girl has a condition similar to megaesophagus, which affects her ability to move food and water properly from her mouth to her stomach. Despite her special needs, Ruby is full of life and simply wants someone to snuggle with and sleep in their bed.

Ruby is quite low-key and tends to warm up slowly to new people, but she is truly perfect in every way! She takes several daily medications to help manage her condition, which costs around $150 per month. Ruby has recently transitioned out of her Bailey chair (a chair designed for eating in an upright position) but still requires soaked kibble that must be hand-fed to her. Her water intake has improved as well, and she drinks well from a special slow feeder water bowl. Her condition is well-managed with this feeding routine.

Aside from her eating habits, Ruby is a typical dog. She loves to follow her foster mom around, always looking for a chance to cuddle. She enjoys making a nest on the couch and observing everything happening in the home.

Ruby currently lives with other dogs and cats and does well with everyone. She is indifferent to other dogs, so if you’re looking for a playmate for another pet, Ruby may not be the best match. However, she can lead a happy and fulfilling life without another dog. She has no interest in cats, so they won’t be an issue in the home. Ruby cannot eat dry food or treats, making a home with older children who can understand her needs the best fit. She is house-trained and does well in a kennel but definitely prefers to be with her human.
