I am so excited to announce that we are adding a very special new member to NHPC team! Dr. Shay McClain will be starting on Tuesday, January 16th! I cannot wait to practice with her!

Dr. Shay McClain, DVM, earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2022. Following graduation, Dr. McClain relocated to Mission, KS where she worked in a large emergency and specialty hospital within their Emergency and Critical Care service for nearly two years.

Dr. McClain and her husband, Tyler, have three dogs who run the show at home - Alice the heeler, Diggle the beagle/pitbull, and Solo the corgi. In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, watching movies, and spending time with her family.

A great big CONGRATULATIONS to the very first NHPC S.T.A.R. Puppy graduate, Amos & his mom Susan! Amos and Susan worked hard over 6 weeks and completed the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy test! Amos and his mom are planning to continue their training in basic obedience and eventually take their Canine Good Citizen test!

Slip leads. French collars. Grot collars. Prong collars. Figure of 8 collars. Electric (shock) collars. Compressed air sprays. Water sprays. Rattle cans. Alpha rolls. Heel kicks to the abdomen.

Your dog deserves better than that. Every dog deserves better than that.

None of these things are necessary to teach dogs. Their use is an active choice to use force, fear, discomfort, pain, or the threat of these things, to teach. Don't accept that for your dog. They don't deserve it.

We have received SEVERAL calls this morning with reports of dogs swallowing chunks of rawhides WHOLE! Please consider using correctly sized interactive food stuffable toys (Westpaw, Kong) or alternative chews that are truly digestible (Whimzees, Better Belly brand).

MUST receive 2 total vaccines to be considered vaccinated.

We are very excited to begin hosting puppy classes for our clients! Our classes are geared towards giving puppies the best start with responsible ownership. Topics include: proper socialization & exposure, beginning basic training techniques, and working through common puppy behaviors. Classes will meet once a week for 6 weeks. Owners will be provided with a training handbook for references and weekly homework assignments.
