💰$11,491💰 Donation time! $1 from every Cat Lounge reservation goes back into these and similar organizations doing great things for animals and humans alike in our communities. This month, we are giving back to the following organizations serving central and NE Oklahoma.

Free To Live Animal Sanctuary, Guthrie – $2,001
A non-profit sanctuary for stray, abandoned and mistreated dogs and cats, Free To Live meets each dog or cat where they are socially and/or medically, providing the treatment they need to live their fullest lives.

Tulsa Day Center, Tulsa – $2,102
We were inspired by CASHnip Kitty and their regular contributions to the day center. The day center serves those who are experiencing or at risk for homelessness.

StreetCats Inc., Tulsa – $2,195
When we opened in Tulsa, you all couldn’t say enough great things about StreetCats and we couldn’t agree more. This totally volunteer based rescue is doing great things for the cat population.

Safe Haven Animal Rescue, OKC – $2,883
We’re doubling up on our OKC partner rescue, with this representing both our April and May donation amounts. We wouldn’t be where we are without all the dedicated work their team puts in to support these cats before they make it to the cafe and even while they’re with us. And hey, it’s been a busy kitten season..

Animal Aid of Tulsa, Tulsa – $2,310
Saving sick and injured stray dogs and cats in Tulsa and its surrounding communities since 1961. We’d donate to them anyways, but special shoutout to our Tulsa employee, Sable, for their time and support of this organization.

“Cats and cat lovers (who also appreciate a “purrfect” cup of coffee) converge at the Don’t Stress Meowt Cat Cafe. The Oklahoma City and Tulsa locations care for about 80 felines combined, taking in cats who need forever homes. Most are adopted within two weeks, as visitors quickly realize the value of bringing a cute kitty home. OKC’s most notable cafe cats include Tammy, Mr. Pancakes, Kita, Kitty Poppins and Gravy. At the cafe, cats enjoy napping, nuzzling their favorite humans, running on the exercise wheel and chasing toys. Putting 40 cats in a room provides endless surprises, as well as the opportunity for cafe owners to serve their community. Beyond finding homes for their charges, owners donate around $40,000 each year to support cats and humans outside the organization.”

We’re feeling a little hypocritical here. We’ve always been proud of everything on here just being us. You see a post or a comment? An email response? Just our little family.

But if we’re being real, we do a pretty mediocre job at this. And we’re individually not that important anyways. Some weeks you’ll get 5 posts out of us. Some weeks none. The consistency just isn’t there. And if you want a picture and a caption, we got you – but don’t even think about a trendy video. We owe it to you to drop all the cat cuteness – this is what social media is for.

So beginning soon, we’re excited to announce, you’ll be seeing two posts a week by someone much more talented than us. Everything else will still be us, but building in some consistency by bringing help in will take a little stress off of us while we focus more on the business and some exciting updates on the horizon.

We shared our Friday post about our Catopia Cat Cafe experience in a local Albuquerque, NM restaurant review page. And what happens the very next day? The owner messages us with this picture. She says this little baby was adopted by someone who came in because they saw our review. It’s not our adoption, but it feels special to us still. The power of social media is huge. Without engagement like this, small businesses like us slowly die. Thank you to everyone who takes a moment to give us a like once in a while so our kitties like this reach the most people ❤️

It’s kitten season at Catopia Cat Cafe in Albuquerque and we are obsessed 🥹

You may have noticed a lack of kittens at our cat cafe. By design, we rarely accept cats under 7mo old. Oklahoma has an overwhelming amount of rescue cats in need, and the kittens in all of their tiny cuteness just don’t really need the extra help that our cat cafe experience brings. We actually prefer showcasing the special personalities of the “less desirable” cats – the seniors, the basic looking, three legged, etc. – the cats that don’t do as well behind a piece of glass at the pet store. Creating a happy experience for the cats where they can be their fullest selves and a happy experience for our humans, we are able to increase adoption rates in our community for the ones who need it the most.
