We’re OK Foundation - An Animal Rescue

We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to saving animals lives in Oklahoma as well as assisting the public with spay & neuter HELLO!

We're OK Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)3 rescue with our main mission being to help transport dogs out of Oklahoma so they have a better chance of adoption, with this mission in mind we hope to reduce the euthanasia rates in Oklahoma public shelters. We also have a senior and special needs sanctuary for dogs who need a safe space for end of life care and aren't necessarily stable enough to go on a transport. We are 100% volunteer run with no paid employees and run on donations.

💔 Puppy Update

What started as 6 puppies has now become 7, after someone who had taken one of the babies from the box at the park, before we got them, reached out to us yesterday morning. It was stated she also wasn’t doing well 💔 so the foster rushed to go get her to start her on antibiotics and fluids. Sadly, we lost another sweet pup later yesterday afternoon 😭

The vets are working hard to figure out what’s going on, but we still don’t have clear answers. These little ones seem fine one moment, and then their kidneys and liver start shutting down the next. It could be toxin exposure, an unknown bacterial or viral infection, leptospirosis, or even a congenital issue—we just don’t know yet.

This morning, two of the remaining four are struggling and are being rushed to be hospitalized. We’re doing everything we can for these precious lives, but it’s so heartbreaking to see them fight so hard.

We’re OK fam!

Meet our new member 🥰

This boy, Ragnor, was surrendered to our local shelter due to his owner moving. Due to overcrowding in the shelter, he found himself on the dreaded euthanasia list just 5 days after his arrival 💔

Thankfully we were able to save him all thanks to one of our fosters stepping up for him! He’s got a great demeanor and so super sweet, he is going to be a great best friend to someone! New name to come soon with his new leash on life! 🐾 For now, enjoy his freedom ride photo 🚗 💗

❤️‍🩹 Update on the Puppies

It is with heavy hearts that we share an update on the sick puppies from this morning. Once they arrived at the vet they were immediately hospitalized. After running diagnostics, the vet has confirmed that they are in renal failure 💔 Sadly, the most humane decision is to let them go peacefully, as there is no way to reverse the damage.

The vet suspects the renal failure was caused by exposure to a toxin, most likely antifreeze. While we do not know their story prior to being found in the park, this is a devastating reminder of how dangerous such substances can be, even in small amounts! Please keep toxic materials out of reach from your pets.

The rest of the family is being seen today for exams to ensure their health and safety. We are hopeful that they have not been affected and will continue to monitor them closely.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with kind words and support during this difficult time. Please keep these sweet pups and their foster family in your thoughts. Hug your pets a little tighter today ❤️‍🩹

🆘 EMERGENCY: We Need Your Help Now!

An 11-year-old child recently discovered a heartbreaking scene at a local park: six tiny puppies crammed into a plastic container, with their brave mom nearby. Now 2 of the 6 puppies are lethargic and fighting for their lives (see their cute faces in the comments). They’re on the way to the vet and need immediate help to cover emergency care.

These innocent babies didn’t deserve this, and we’re determined to give them a chance—but we can’t do it without you!

🐾❄️ Protect Your Pets! ❄️🐾

As this winter storm approaches and temperatures drop, it’s essential to ensure your furry friends stay safe and warm. Here are some cold-weather tips to keep your pets happy and healthy:

🧥 1. Bundle Them Up:
• Short-haired or small dogs may need a coat or sweater for outdoor walks.
• Ensure it fits snugly but doesn’t restrict movement.

🐾 2. Protect Their Paws:
• Cold surfaces, ice, and salt can damage paw pads.
• Wipe paws after walks to remove salt or chemicals.
• Use pet-safe paw balm or booties for extra protection.

🏠 3. Keep Them Indoors:
• Pets are safer inside during freezing temperatures.
• Limit outdoor time to short bathroom breaks or supervised play.

🍲 4. Provide Extra Nutrition and Water:
• Pets burn more calories in the cold to stay warm. Check with your vet about adjusting their diet.
• Make sure water bowls don’t freeze outside. Use heated bowls if necessary.

🚗 5. Watch for Frostbite and Hypothermia:
• Symptoms include shivering, lethargy, or discoloration of skin (frostbite).

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on an incredible year of saving lives, building hope, and making a difference together. None of this would have been possible without our amazing community of supporters who believe in our mission. 💕

Here’s what we accomplished because of YOU:

✨ 254 Animals Rescued: (116 cats, 138 dogs) Each one saved from critical situations, neglect, or homelessness.
🏡 173 Adoptions Finalized: So many animals found their forever homes filled with love!
🏥 1 Treat-and-Return to Owner: Sweet Palomo received the medical care he needed and was returned to his loving owner, where he belongs.
🚌 19 Cats Transferred Out of State: Giving them a second chance in new areas.
🫶🏼 33 Dogs Transferred to Rescues: Opening up space and saving more lives.
♾️ 1 Cat Became a Forever Foster: A special kind of love and care.

🌟 Meet Mirabelle – Our Miracle Girl! 🌟

This beauty queen is Mirabelle, an 11-month-old, 60lb pit mix who has already endured more than most dogs ever will. 💔 She was found in a shallow grave, waiting for her life to end after being shot by her owner’s grandpa in the country. 😢 Miraculously, Mirabelle survived FOUR DAYS without vet care before finding her way to rescue.

When she arrived, we were astonished to learn that the bullet had two entries and two exits, ricocheting inside her body. Yet, by some miracle, no major arteries, organs, muscles, or bones were harmed. 🙏 Our Miracle Mirabelle is truly one of a kind!

Today, Mirabelle is a loving, joyful puppy who’s beyond thrilled to be alive. She adores:
💖 Toys, bones, and cozy beds
💖 Head pats and full-body hugs
💖 Running in the yard, snacks, and dog friends
💖 Car rides and all the simple joys life has to offer

Mirabelle spent her early life as an outdoor dog, but she’s now learning the comforts of being an indoor pup—and loving every minute of it!

💜 Kindred Update 💜 We’re thrilled to share that Kindred has been released from the emergency Vet hospital and is now happily recovering in her foster home! 💕 The Veterinary team determined that her blood glucose levels had dropped to a life-threatening low, but thanks to the swift response to seek immediate medical intervention, her life was saved. Canine diabetes is new waters for both us and Kindred’s foster mama. Together, we are learning how to navigate this very sensitive disease and are doing everything we can to find the perfect balance to meet Kindred’s needs. She’s now receiving even closer monitoring of her glucose levels and is doing wonderfully. We are so grateful for the love and support you’ve shown her during this critical time. It’s because of your generosity that she was able to receive the life-saving treatment she needed. If it’s in your heart to help us cover the remaining balance of Kindred’s vet bill of $690, we are still accepting donations towards her care.
