As a pet groomer, I often get the impression that people think we don't understand the amount of work that goes into doing daily maintenance of doodle-oodles. That we enjoy shaving them and just getting them off our table. That is entirely untrue. I recently gained an oodle myself and let me tell you, the maintenance I put into him is almost daily. Even at only 15 weeks old, he gets weekly grooming interactions, and has since I brought him home. Every evening we sit on the floor and I check his coat for burs, sticks, and knots. I bath and brush him every Sunday on my day off regardless of how tired I am, because I am dedicated to having him in a certain look. When we got him I knew what I was committing to in maintenance, training, and upkeep. If I was not a groomer, we honestly would not be able to afford to have him groomed professionally, and that is another thing I considered and I stopped taking larger clients so I COULD devote my time to my puppy. Groomers know the amount of work it takes to maintain a coat, the dedication and time it takes daily. When we try to show our clients how to help their pups stay tangle free and fluffy, we are not trying to be superior, we are simply trying to set them and thier dogs up for success in the look they are wanting. We are also advocating for the ideal comfort of the dogs. We don't just shave dogs, we are artists and we want to work with ideal canvases. So when your groomer tries to give you tips on coat maintenance, it comes from a place of years of education and service. Love your groomer and help them help you.💜
