Feel good story incoming!

Rocko the Rottweiler is an Omnia K9 Alumni. His initial training was completed in 2019 as a young puppy. His owners were very diligent in maintaining his training and insuring he had a great life.
He has come to stay with me a handful of times over the years, mostly for puppy sitting while his humans had to go out of town. Each time was flawless as ever. I never had to worry about regression or new unwanted behaviors popping up or needing worked on.

Fast forward to 2022. I’m contacted by Rocko’s owners and they are going through a very challenging time in their lives due to health conditions. Unfortunately for Rocko, that means that he cannot stay in the home and his owners were not going to put him through being an outside dog or staying in boarding. They asked me to help find him the best new home.

Luckily, I happen to know and work with other trainers, Go Forth K9 being one of them. With Autumn’s help, we were able to find Rocko a phenomenal home in a matter of twenty minutes from being contacted by his previous owners. His new owners have the same level of dedication to a dog’s mental and physical well-being.
There were a few bumps in the road, namely having another young intact male in his new home but Rocko is thriving again!

These photos are from the last few days. Having implemented the same rules and boundaries he’s known in his new environment, Rocko has adjusted well and is loving life once again.

A few lessons this has reminded me of:

1. A trained dog will always find a home
2. Work with fellow trainers, they can always help
3. Be an advocate for your client dogs. They will always need your help at some point.

They are an incredible asset but a liability as well. Do your research, put the work in and most of all stay safe and diligent.

Fancy is a three year old German Shepherd who has behavioral issues with barking at people/dogs, pulling on a leash and being unresponsive.

Less than 24 hours after our first in home session, her owners set me this video with Fancy rocking her down stay command!
It is amazing what can be done with consistency and patience.

Fifty years ago, a “job” was mandatory for a dog to be apart of the family. In the present day, our dogs do not have a purpose they instinctively crave. Training provides a “job” and a sense of purpose for your companion. They are happier, healthier and much more fun to be with on a daily basis when they have on outlet for their energy, intelligence and focus.

Training is the best gift you can give your dog. They love us unconditionally, so it’s our responsibility to make sure they are stress free and live a fulfilling life!

Meet Lucy! She is a young Australian Shepherd who is learning not to jump, to stop chasing after cars on walks and be more attentive and responsive. She’s on her third session and coming along nicely.

Her owners are dedicated to her well being and working everyday with her!
When training your dog, you should always give as much as you take. It’s team work and it will make the dream work.

***** CLIENT TESTIMONIAL *****

My boyfriend and I reached out to Reann for our new Aussie pup, Gypsy’s training. We knew that the Australian Shepherd is a high energy breed and we wanted to get a head start on her obedience side before she started developing negative behaviors due to lack of proper stimulation. Not only was Gypsy young, she was also a little timid and started doing things such as barking at people passing by and any unfamiliar dog. She would bark and growl at our 5 year old high energy nephew because she was afraid of his excitement levels. So we knew we needed training ASAP! Reann has been such a miracle worker! Gypsy has improved so much in the past 4 months and is almost done with her current basic level obedience training and her behaviors have done a total 180! Now she loves people, especially children and is so gentle and soft when showing them love or even when they run up to her. She just bows her little head getting into a position that will make hugs and pets even more ideal. She hardly barks at all anymore, so much so, that we’re a little worried we won’t be able to teach her the ‘speak’ command lol! Gypsy has thrived since being in Reann’s obedience class and my boyfriend and I have thrived as dog owners in learning the correct way to handle and discipline our pup when needed. We are so thankful for everything Reann has shown us!

***** CLIENT TESTIMONIAL *****

We reached out to Lorenzo’s Dog Training Team because of aggressive, anxious behaviors exhibited by our Black Mouth Cur. Reann empowered us to regain control of our home and enabled us to greatly enhance Brando’s quality of life. Through Behavior Modification Training, Brando can now enjoy public outings almost anywhere his humans go, including the hardware store, restaurant patios, and festivals. Brando knows he is the “best boy” and continues to thrive with Retrieval Training. Reann’s expertise is evident in her ability to identify the unique needs of her clients, and her passion and enthusiasm are unmatched. No other trainer could care for Brando the way Reann has, and we know that for him, she’s family.

****FULL STORY BELOW****

My husband Cody adopted our dog Brando (right) from a local shelter when he was about 8 weeks old. The two quickly became inseparable as Brando took his place in his new home. Like most puppies, Brando was playful, energetic, and notably rambunctious. He enjoyed eating shoes, blankets, and the food off of your plate. Because Brando has always been a big boy, his mischievous occurrences caused even bigger damages as he grew. Door frames, window sills, the couch - nothing was safe! I was more nervous to move in with Brando than I was my husband, Cody.

Shortly after Bruno (left) and I moved in, Brando’s instinctive loyalty to protect Cody and his home resulted in constant aggression. Without Cody home I was unable to open the door without Brando lashing out at visitors. I could not control him or redirect him, and I felt helpless in my own home. With no idea where to turn, we found Reann with Lorenzo’s Dog Training Team.

Reann scheduled an evaluation where she listened to our concerns and outlined an action plan. Rather than simply training Brando, Reann patiently taught Cody and I how to direct Brando ourselves, creating a dependence on us as leaders of the house. Improvement was noticeable within the first few weeks.

Reann has now been Brando’s trainer for two years and always makes herself available. After moving into a new home, she worked with us to ensure he was comfortable again. While Brando used to be anxious and defensive, rarely getting to leave the house, he now accompanies us OFF-LEASH on every trip to Lowe’s and Petsmart. Because of Lorenzo’s Dog Training Team, Brando is a happy boy who loves meeting people and cuddling up with his brother. Reann not only made us better dog owners, she made us a family.

Boundaries are very important when introducing new people or pets into the home.

Tiny Goose and Brojo the Dane mix are slowly learning how to coexist and will live peacefully without worry of being chased or hurt.

Mr. Mac here has a very bad habit of chasing the yard equipment. It has gotten to the point that it is dangerous to have him near when his owners are working on the yard.

Until today. Finished up our second session with some distraction work in the backyard. This is the first time Mac has been able to be outside with his owners while working on the yard in months.
Training isn’t just for convenience. It’s for functionality and safety!

Lucy the border collie!

She is a very smart girl who already has a good obedience foundation but has some behavioral issues such as spinning when a door opens and chasing shadows.

By teaching her owners more detailed handling and helping them figure out why she has these obsessive behaviors will set them up for success for the future!

******CLIENT TESTIMONIAL*******

We began our training journey with Reann Phillips of Lorenzo’s Dog Training Team the day after we picked up our 2-month old German Shepherd “DUKE” from the breeders. I had always heard that beginning training this early in the pups life was always a no go. I can certainly dismiss that false information.

The level of education Reann provided to my wife, two sons (7 & 11 YOA) and myself was exceptional. We were trained equally or actually more than Duke. I loved how every action or training method was explained as “Here is why we do it this way”. That helped us comprehend the direction and reasoning of “why”.

Obviously, Step 1 of the Training Process was General Obedience which we just completed. The level of advancement we have seen with Duke for a now 5-month old dog is truly unbelievable.

I will say that any owners looking to utilize the Training, must make the commitment to the program just as the dog. However; this should go without saying if an owner is looking to hire any level of trainer.

We are very excited to start the next step of Retrieval Training in the very near future. Although I cannot state that we have ever used a professional dog trainer in the past, I truly feel it would be very difficult to match the level that we have experienced with Reann.

All my babies in one place! 😍 Krow the blue heeler, and Mazie and Charlie the labradoodles. These girls are rockstars. They’re four months old and we are just about finished with our on leash obedience. Their owners were very proactive in starting the girls off on the right paw at an early age and now Charlie and Mazie get to go to work with them on a daily basis!

Talk about distractions! I haven’t seen Tux the Border Collie since we finished our training program last year.
I picked him up after his owner contacted me and said he is having anxiety issues at the vet. Luckily when someone becomes my client, I’ll never turn them away when they ask for help after our formal training. Tux and I spent a good amount of time at Benchmark Animal Hospital so that he can learn to relax and go with the flow when he has to visit the vet.
