UPDATE:
This girl has been placed in foster but is still seeking her forever home.

Coco was dropped off at a vet's boarding facility when her owner went into the hospital in June. Unfortunately, the owner passed away and there was no one to claim Coco.

Coco is 7-8 months old and fully vaccinated and has been spayed.

Please share Coco's story so we can find this girl a happy ending.

Desperately Seeking Rescue or Adoption!

This sweet baby was unintentionally abandoned in boarding and the boarding facility needs to find her a safe place to go. Her owner dropped her off for boarding before he was hospitalized, then subsequently passed away. He did not have family who could reclaim this poor puppy. The clinic does not want to resort to euthanasia but has no space to keep her indefinitely.

Coco is a 7-month-old lab mix, fully vaccinated. She is very sweet and loving. The clinic where she is located will spay her at no cost. She will come with heart worm preventative.

THIS SWEET GIRL WAS ADOPTED!! Mia is a sweet, sweet girl. She started life in a breeding situation and was possibly a puppy reserved for breeding but does not seem to have been bred. She is approx. two years old. She was released to rescue when the breeding facility was closing. Mia was most likely not handled much as a puppy and, therefore, she shies away from being picked up or handled. She is very food motivated and solicits attention with food bribes. She is very curious and pops up on her hind legs to check out what is happening when her humans are sitting, and then allows ear scratches and pets. Mia needs an adopter who is patient and is willing to work with her to continue to make her more comfortable in her surroundings. Mia is great with other dogs and might benefit from another dog in the household but it is not a requirement. Mia is spayed, fully vaccinated and heart worm negative. She is also micro chipped. UPDATE: This is Bear, we pulled him recently after hearing his sad story. His owner was terminally ill and didn't want Bear to watch him die. The owner dropped Bear off in a nice neighborhood hoping someone would find him and take them into their home. He was picked up by animal control but the man's caretaker's did not think Bear should be returned to his owner for fear the gentlemen would attempt to drop Bear off again.
Our rescue had Bear neutered, updated his vaccines and he had a negative heart worm test. He is a sometimes a sweet but sometimes "snarky" little chihuahua. (What Chi isn't??) Bear is 10 years old but has a lot of life left in him. He likes to cuddle on the sofa with his human and sleep under the covers in bed. He is crate trained and goes in easily for a treat.

It's always surprising when one of our very adoptable dogs lingers in foster care. Usually through no fault of their own. That is the case with Maverick who is 1-1/2 years old, very comical and a laugh a minute! He loves attention, whether it's a loving pet or just the ability to lay with his head on your foot. He gets along well with all of the dogs, large and small, in his foster home. Maverick really likes going to Bar K (the dog park) and hanging out with all of the other dogs and people. He is not a fan of cat's and keeps his distance so shouldn't have problems sharing a home with one.
Maverick has a lot of puppy left in him but he has worked hard on his manners and listens very well. He is crate trained and housebroken.
Maverick is medium sized (weighing 50 lbs), is neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro chipped and heart worm negative.

Maverick is looking for a home where someone wants a buddy for walks, going to the park and hanging out watching tv. He will be your loyalist companion.

This sweet perky eared girl was surviving on the streets and caring for puppies under a abandoned home. She was lucky and someone spent the time to trap her off thebstreets and crawl under a home to rescue her babies. After a couple days locked up in a area with her puppies Nova became dangerously aggressive. Her pups where 7-8 weeks so, she was removed from her puppies. She went off to a trainer to break her out of survival mode. After a week she began to blossom and come out of her shell. Turns out the terrified dog trying to protect her babies has a awesome temperament. She has been good with all dogs, and cats she has met. Little hand shy with new people but easily bought off with treats or soft pets. She is a avid tennis ball chaser. She is still awaiting her home in Oklahoma. She was very malnourished due to life on the streets and caring for her puppies. Having the NUTRO Pet Food donated by the Greater Good Charities has been a blessing to get her back to health.

URGENT I AM READY FOR ADOPTION, FOSTER, or TRANSFER!

Hello, my name is Nova, it been a crazy 2024 for me, you see I was raising my puppies on the streets in SW Oklahoma City in the winter, and then I ended up in a trap trying to get food to survive. The humans had my puppies too, I was so scared when we arrived at our new location I was trapped in a room with my puppies and no longer able to escape, so I started defending them from these unknown humans that trapped me. After about a week my babies were moved away from me as they were over 6 weeks and I was in momma defense mode. I ended up back into a cage and off to a trainer’s home. That is where I started the first chapter to my new life. I spent a week terrified to interact with my trainer, mostly shut down, but willing to defend myself. You see after an unknown amount of time on the streets had left me in survivor mode, very flighty and my mommy hormones where all over the place. After some time to decompress the trainer pushed me to accept a leash, and in no time at all I remembered what it was like when I was a pet before. I got to lay on soft beds inside a home, chew up dog toys, and my favorite is to play fetch with a ball. I will sneak on the couch if you’re not looking, and despite street life I don’t like going outside in the cold or wet. I enjoy a car ride but do best with a seatbelt restraint. I share the trainer’s home with serval other dogs and cats. I will need a little time and patients to adjust to a new place and people, but I am bought off by a nice snacks. Soon as I know you are a safe human; we will be besties. (Nova warms up to new people quickly within minutes in an environment she is comfortable in, she is more cautious in new places, with new people and takes her time to greet)

Adoption fee is $75, this dog is about 2-3 yrs old and in the 50 lb range, Nova is spayed and current on vaccines and Heartworm negative.

Thanks to the Greater Good Charities and NUTRO Pet Food affordable food donations she is doing amazing.

Simple Analogy—Why we can’t saved them all…

Every time rescue is asked to take an owner surrender- we have to somehow make room on our little raft for that dog.
When an owner says stuff like “I don’t have time to give them the best life” or “I have to move” or “they have too much anxiety” it really falls flat because that means if we bring them on the raft, another dog out there in the freezing water gets to die.

Every day rescue adjudicate life and death by gate keeping who can get on the boat.

Rescues and shelters are the tiny Rescue Boats.

The Ship is our community at large.

The iceberg is comprised of puppy mills, careless owners, backyard breeders, and those who won’t spay/neuter.

🐈‍🐈🐈‍Kitten season is in full swing, but you can still help curb the overpopulation of feral cat litters in Norman. If you are a Norman resident in city limits, you can bring in a feral cat in a live trap on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 8:15-8:30AM. You will then pick the cat up after 3:30PM to return to habitat the next day. You will be provided with discharge instructions to ensure the cat's safe return to habitat.
