Hey y’all, we’ve been focusing on strengthening ourselves and clarifying our direction toward the best ways to move forward. This year, we have an exciting garden school schedule, including classes we’ve not yet had, as well as community projects such as fruit tree planting, cob oven building, and pollinator garden cultivation. Additionally, on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon, we host and participate in community composting and discussions aimed at fostering better learning and growth together.

Our intention is to work towards a world that allows for space and understanding for all of us, equipping ourselves with the knowledge and tools needed to regenerate our soils, hearts, and minds.

Stay tuned or join us on this journey in any way you can! 🤗

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, Americans bought nearly 1.3 billion pounds of pumpkins during the fall season last year. Unfortunately, more than 80% of those pumpkins ended up in landfills.

CommonWealth Urban Farms is one of many communities working to reduce waste by composting pumpkins rather than discarding them. By composting, the nutrients from the pumpkins can be returned to the soil, promoting soil regeneration and enhancing overall soil health.

Join us at 1016 NW 32nd St. on Saturday, November 30th, between 9 a.m. and noon to drop off your pumpkins or participate in our pumpkin smash event. CommonWealth volunteers will smash the pumpkins and use the remnants to fill the compost bins in our compost-heated greenhouse. 🤩 We hope to see you there. 👈🏻😗👈🏻
