Hamuel is ready to find his forever home! He is 3.5 years old, super sweet, and ready to start the rest of his life. He was returned after 2 years due to his owner developing serious health issues. It’s clear he was very loved and they wanted him to get the love and attention he deserves. He has a wonderful appetite and loves exploring lots of fruits and veggies, as well as treats and foraging mix. He can be a little skittish when picking him up, but he loves head scratches under a warm blanket on your lap.

Hamuel is currently a solo-piggy, but we would like him to go to a home with another lonely male that he could bond with. Given slow and proper introductions, and a large habitat, there’s no reason Hamuel couldn’t be a wonderful companion to another male.

We cannot thank our Secret Santa enough! The Guinea Pig Secret Santa Project allows us to spoil our foster critters and even helped us assist local shelters every year. We got ✨100 pounds✨ of Timothy hay this year—WOW! We couldn’t use it all, but we were able to assist shelters that rescue pocket pets (and livestock!). We got a box full of toys and treats, as well as some custom made cuddle sacks, to keep our fosters entertained, well fed, and cozy during their stay in our foster homes. We also appreciate the personal gifts—it means the world to us! We highly recommend supporting this amazing project. 🎁

Our old friend Hamuel has found his way back to the APR herd after his owner developed some serious health problems. They wanted to make sure he got all the love and attention he deserved, and that's all we want for our critters! 💕

Hamuel is still a solo piggy but we're sure he would love to have piggy companion to share space with. He's only 3.5 years old now and should have a long and happy life ahead of him. We're going to keep an eye on our piggy friend for a few days, but he should be ready to find his forever home after Thanksgiving.

Smokey is enjoying his new sand bath! Sand baths are a ✨MUST✨ for dwarf hamsters—Syrian hamsters enjoy digging in them, but they usually won’t use them to bathe. Dwarf hamsters will roll in a sand bath to remove excess oils from their fur (like chinchillas!).

Unlike chinchillas, hamsters cannot use “bathing dust” which is too fine, or calcium sand in the reptile section (it’s not good for reptiles either because it can cause intestinal blockages 😬). They need desert sand that’s specifically designed for hamsters.

Smokey is still patiently waiting for his perfect forever home! He would do best in a home without small children and with hamster-savvy pawrents that can continue his trust training. This sweet little hammy is called Ember! 🔥
Ember is a winter white dwarf hamster and is approximately 1 year and 3 months old. Ember was rescued by OKC Animal Welfare as apart of a cruelty/confiscation case, along with Smokey, the other dwarf hamster in our rescue. 😔

Ember wasn’t getting much attention at the shelter, so we decided to try our luck at finding him a perfect home from the comfort of a foster home. He’s done pretty good here, although he’s still a little shy and reclusive. When he does decide to leave the burrow and interact with his foster family, he’s such a charming little fellow! ♥️

He’s a curious guy and likes to explore his habitat. Ember is enjoying trying new treats and snacks that his foster family offers him—he especially likes Cheerios and fresh cucumber! 🥒

Ember would do best in a home without small children (hamsters are “low-maintenance”, but they are NOT great with kids). An ideal home would be with a hamster-savvy family that will continue his trust-training.

Ember FINALLY came out of hiding to have a refreshing veggie snack! How handsome is Ember? 🐹🥰

We want to keep an eye on sweet Ember a few more days to make sure he’s adjusting well after his big transition from shelter to foster home, but he should be ready to find his forever home in a few days! Stay tuned for updates.
