it may be hotter than a fire cracker right now.. burning hot... but it drying everything up.. pasture wise.. and actually thats a good thing.. part of the worms and coccii... life ccycle...
if it short enough or sparse enough to get the suns hot rays for 6 hrs or more to dry it out [a day].. it is killing the nasties..
i mowed down my bad wet area a week ago so at least the air could get to it.. along with 3x daily check on animals and pulling and isolating any that where not up to par... i think i may be see ing the end of this wet hot humid nasties season.. i hope the rest of you are also [oklahoma]..
weather man says 3 or 4 days before more moisture.. so hopefully i get a good kill out..
next year [or this fall] i am breeding early.. getting my kidding done early.. weaning early and gettin does back up to full health [i hope] early! and if needed i will dry lot my whole herd.. i hate this [past 2 months] time of year!! it worse than kidding in the cold!
i am tired of running stool sample ti lab for testing [i already know] so i make sure i medicate properly.. i didlike mowing down nice deep thick grass [that is soaking wet underneath it all].. i know this one patch in my main problem.. but getting it fence off is a issue for me.. and it in my main area.. may have to try a electric fence next year around that area,,, [it a run off area]..
i hope to be back to normal in 2weeks.. i gave myself that time to make sure. hopefully no new signs or anyone going off agin..
been holding back on selling the babies [who have been penned and weaned early] for 6 weeks or longer to make sure everything is all good.
whats real funny the does i want to sell this year did not have issue.. hummm.. maybe i need to rethink that..lol

RV RANCH RED ROCK ..[sire is popeye]
he is just 15 months old and he not the prettiest buck but his thickness caught my eye. i bred him to 1 doe last fall, a long bodied known older doe [my grace]. and his 1 buck kid is just as impressive with along body and looks that make you look twice.
will be using this buck heavy this fall.

kids will be offered next year, choosing the does carefully.

okay i have over done it..agin... caught up doe an d babies last week and started health work and dry lot for rehoming... caught up an other one couple of day ago for same reason [Cheryl Lutrick help me] ... had another one trapped with her babies.. i just turned that last one loose.. i may try agin next week.. no rush.. just dry lot and prep for rehoming..
but i can barley walk. or stand up straight.. i am tired!!!.. i did not sleep last night... my brain is in a fog.. i have no focus and just wandering doing nothing
check all my health numbers.. i am good.. except for the sleep..
i am shutting it down for rest of the week [just normal everyday stuff.. nothing extra]..
fixin to take a rx pill and call it and take a nap.
i am good.. i am in control. i know when to say thats enough.

i can remember the day that i could catch a dozen babies goat.. band the boys.. start all on cdt.. and worm them.. put in seperation pens... and maybe take photo.. and even groom a couple that evening... and also check over and update dam at same time.
NO LONGER CAN I DO THAT..
but yesterday caught a doe and her 2 babies and did all that.. fixin to seperate. she and babies are easy to handle.. calm..
this morning caught up the dairy pen.. after milking..
wormed and cocci the doe.. wormed cocci and banded her her [2] 2 month old nursing boys.. and then wormed and cocci the 2 [weaned ] bottle babies..
i am wore out!!! it getting harder on this old lady!..
still have reg chores to do plus housework!..
but..............watch for my post....
fixin to start the doe kids for sale.. have a few very good youth does coming up... looking sharp!! and [1] i really want in ABGA ring!!.. .....later... after i wean and work the traditional kids... will be doing some color.. unless it just standing there and old enough!! will not turn down a opportunity!
should start up in JUNE.. if you want to come look now you are welcomed too..

update on red dairy doe.
i am now gettig almost a half gal in 1 milking. i made yougurt yesterday. we know her milk is sweet and creamy by the milk we are drinking...cream in the jar..
but today she showed me her trick when in isolation pen.. she stands on fence when she full so her udder and teats are above the barrier for babies... will be raising that barrier today... she points teats and releases milk so it dripping and they can reach over barrier and nurse.. smart doe.. i thought she was self nursing.. gotta you..
she is gaining some weight but still has a way to go but i am figuring out how to get her to eat better and working with her on that.. she still does not want to eat on stand...sooo.. before she goes back to babies she spends a hour in isolation pen agin to get a chance to eat... she will be turned out later to graze and she often goes back and finishes it then.. ...
she jumps on stand on her own now.. and mostly stands but still holds back.. but i do understand that... most do... as long as i get my half gal... she wil get better with time and relax more and release more.
she a smart girl.. she learning routine.. adjusting to it.. getting calmer.. comes when called... just confused on baby situation at moment and unsure if it okay.. in time she will relax more she already is..
i will say this.. someone missed a real good deal on this doe,
but
i will keep her now and just work with her.. her babies are bueatiful!.. and the boys will make good butcher goats.. the boer cross makes meat.

I have pulled down my post on available does..
i will be dealing private treaty with a few honest lookers, and they are not tire kickers.
I AM NOT A TRADER AND I AM NOT A DEALER.. i do not deal with sale barn animals and i do not sale at sale bar prices.. if you want sale barn prices then go to the sale barn and buy the culls and the sick and spend you money there... i have quality reg animals that i have been breeding for years with a closed herd! i may be cheapest in town but that does not mean they are sale barn goats. i have background history and care on my anaimls, try getting that at the sale barn.
do not tell me you want my animals.. after i offer you a discount.. then tell me i have to finish raising them at that price!!! nope not going to happen.. deal done and over with! back to full price now.
i have no problem with putting back in pasture and raising them... then selling individually at 2x that price. you just keep buying those cheap goats if you are afraid to raise them.
my dairy doe.. i just went and bought her another months worth of dairy rations and i will keep on training her.. she may just decide to relax and make the grade.. who knows... and her babies boys.. well i done this before a many a times.. when i decide to wean them and take to sale barn.. i will get more than i am asking for the group now... in mean time i have a little milk and maybe i will get enough to make me some yogurt. if my husband does not drink it all.
yea i am mad.. i will get over it.. but you will not have my goats.
and folks that harassments does not include the men making advances at me [at my age wow!] and the scammers and the haters..

KIDDING IS FINISHED!
took 68 days total and i survived! it
and so did the does.. i did not loose any and only lost 1 triplet [doa]
14 does kidding with a total of 29 babies.. 2 sets of triplets and 1 set of surviving QUADS!.
13 Bucks [wethers on some] [1 was doa] [3 bottle babies sold]
16 doe kids [1 bottle baby sold]
whew...now to watch them grow and evaluate.. sold some already.. nearly all the does i am selling this year are reserved.. and almost all the doe kids i am selling are reserved.
i will be raising 4 buck kids
and
rasising 6 doe kids..
the other kids will be sold..
i do not mind saying it was a tad harder on me this year but with my past experience it was planned out well.. not all co oped but it was close.. i am proud of me
next year the group will be even small.. and all home breeding is planned [reason for raising more buck kids]..
at 74 i know my years are limited for goat raining but i want to keep going and i want to do good ones!!
and i still have a few things i wnat to try out..
Watch for MAX babies!.. last 2 boys i have to decide if i am going to dehorn or not.. THEY BOTH ARE GOOD. .. but they also will make some really good winning wethers...
watch for post on doe that i decide to sell.. they are not culls.. these are the ones i want to keep. but with new ones coming in... well i have to keep numbers down. and Bucks also. i have kept them each for a special reason.

i bought cowgirl just to breed to max.. i thought that would be a good match!!.. well it is!!!
2 bucks. everything looks good and legal on them.. 10 lbs and 9 lbs.. up and trying to nurse before mom got up.
cowgirl kids slow and easy with no issue.. text book.. tend to them before she gets up.. know they are there.. and has them nursing quicly.. something her buck kids will pass on to their daughter..
I repeat.. THEY ARE NICE BOYS

born monday at 5 and 6 lbs [triplets dam has 3rd one].
had fresh colostrum, and taking bottle great. up to 8 oz each each feeding. ready to go, and i like to have gone this weekend.

updates.. spotted doe with spotted buck kid AVLIABLE!
group #2 birthing is over.. and as usual the doe did not get memo.. lets have them all at same time!.. between weather and ect they where spaced out.. late and early over a week.. [5] does.. 3 set of twins and 1 single and a not so good kidding ended with twins [quads.. [after it over knowledge].. 1 had dies about 6 weeks out [still in sack with afterbirth when delivered].. [2] boys pulled out superman style alive and next day she delivered a big breech girl deceased.. umbilical cord had broke and reason for all the blood when i pulled the 2nd boy. i feel really bad about that one.. i was sick i had a fever ect.. but still feel bad.. i know now why there was so much blood.. even if i had worked fast i doubt that i could of got her out alive but i do feel for the mom that went thru 24 hrs carring that dead baby. and she was a very hard breech pull.. very hard... but mom is now happy ...relaxed.. tending carfully to her [2] remaining boys.. she a good mom.. i am not sure i got all notices put in and ect...
i have [1] INTENTIONAL bottle baby spotted doe that i am keeping for me.. i do not want her dam.. i am too old to chase one.. she is pasture wild.. her and her buck kid are AVLIABLE at a very reasonable price. she will not show bite is off, but both kids are great.. teats all good and that spotted buck kid is VERY nice.. tempting [kandy x locks].. kandy is rebar ranch bad company.

will be working this week to get babies ID done and dams health work updated and getting them turned out.. will do better photo later..
[2] traditional buck kids will be available as wether!!! when weaned [the quads] they are very good and will work in the youth show ring! will get them dehorned later.
