Dream isopod acquired! With today’s shipment, we received a bonus starter pack of Cubaris sp. “White Shark”. There were 6 adorable (and tiny!) cuties inside. Unfortunately, their size and activity made them very difficult to photograph but here are some of my favorite shots!

Cubaris sp. “White Ducky” isopods are a higher-end isopod to own, but just look at those adorable faces! According to the experienced breeder I bought them from, these reproduce faster than a standard colored “Rubber Ducky”.

These also prefer a little less humidity than the standard Ducky, and can be a bit tricky to care for, like many in the Cubaris family. They prefer more ventilation and a bit warmer than the average household temperature. I hope to get these established and breeding soon!

Cubaris sp. “White Ducky” isopods came today from Edwin Lopez and they’re stunning! They were packaged so well and I’m so excited to add them to my collection!

Another new addition is Porcellio Scaber “Lava” isopods! These unique pods come in a wide range of patterns of grey, black, and orange/red resembling magma or lava. Lavas are a larger lava species and are protein driven. They prefer temperate to arid environments, but will still require a small damp moss area that is misted regularly. They are a fast breeding species and a great addition to many clean-up crews!

With today’s shipment, we received a free culture of Armadillidium Scaberium “Sandstone” isopods! It said 20 and I counted well over 50 in there! We already had a colony started, but will now be able to list these for sale soon! They prefer a drier habitat, and in my experience are very active and curious.

First new arrival - Porcellio Scaber “Dalmatian”! Scabers are sometimes referred to as the “smaller Dairy Cow isopod”, and reproduce quickly which can grow the colony large enough to also act as feeder insects. They can handle a wide range of humidity (from very humid to dry) and can be kept at household temperatures or hotter.

I love how some of them look like they have sparkles in their exoskeleton!

CUTENESS OVERLOAD!!!
Guess what delivered today! My Rubber Ducky isopods! I cannot wait to breed and sell these locally this year!

Did you know Cubaris sp. Rubber Ducky isopods were discovered in just 2017 in limestone caves in Thailand? They get their common name from their cute little faces that resemble plastic rubber ducky toys.

Shoutout to Kreidler's Critters for sending these to me! They were packaged perfectly, arrived very quickly, and I really appreciate the extra duckies, keychain, and stickers! I highly recommend your store!

New color morph found in my Porcellionides Pruinosis (Powder) Orange Cream collection - Red Koi! I’ll be isolating my 10 individuals to see if we can get a new colony established!

Springtails are perfect when paired with isopods. They help keep mold growth to a minimum and are also detritivores and eat rotting matter.

Pictured below are my newest springtails - Yuukianura Aphoruroides - Orange “Cheeto” springtails! Tropical species that doesn’t jump. Photo taken with my newest macrolens on 24x zoom. Hoping they reproduce quickly so I have them for sale soon!

Oreo Crumbles - Porcellionides Pruinosis

These are one of the pied (spotted) colors of this species, from the powder blue line. They’re prolific isopods and make a great clean up crew in any bioactive. They’re a hardy species so I’m able to keep these at room temperature though ideally temps should remain between 65-85°F. Humidity can be slightly moist to dry.
