Oh. My. World!!!
Mr. Okie Pollies bought me an early birthday present and I am STUNNED! LOOK at how beautiful these Ember Bees are! And they’re a great size too! I cannot WAIT to get these set up so I can share these with you soon!
Ember Bees are an intermediate isopod. Due to their high prices and arboreal nature, they are typically only kept as pets. They love to climb, require several inches of leaf litter, and a high humidity balanced with lots of ventilation. I’ll keep everyone updated here on this new adventure caring for these amazing Bees!
P. Scaber Orange Koi (pied) are settling in to their new digs! These prefer more arid setups but every isopod needs a damp area to raise their young and keep their lungs moist in order to breathe. They are fast reproducing so I hope to have these available very soon!
P. Pruinosis Oreo Crumble - freeze dried peas are a hit!
Tried feeding my Oreos some crushed freeze dried peas and they swarmed it immediately! Theyre a good source of protein & other nutrients.
High food drive Laevis Dairy Cows vs easy-going Pruinosis Oreos.
Dairy Cows vs. Oreos
Visual representation of the high food drive of Dairy Cows versus Oreos. I recommend using a Powder variety for bioactive setups over the Laevis species unless you’re ready to feed your Dairy Cows frequently!
Adding these to our shop! One printed - many more to come! They’re about 4”x2”x1” and $4 each! Watch my page for updates on available colors!
A. Vulgare Mix
Checking in on my A. Vulgare today - everyone’s busy and hungry! A few were later battling it out over some freeze dried shrimp haha
Oreo Crumbles - Porcellionides Pruinosis
Oreo Crumbles - Porcellionides Pruinosis
These are one of the pied (spotted) colors of this species, from the powder blue line. They’re prolific isopods and make a great clean up crew in any bioactive. They’re a hardy species so I’m able to keep these at room temperature though ideally temps should remain between 65-85°F. Humidity can be slightly moist to dry.
