We are excited to be working with Free To Live Animal Sanctuary and Ferdinand! Ferdinand is a 9 year old Mastiff mix and is coming in to see us for help with his severe arthritis and osteoarthritis and bone spurs on his spine. Thanks to a generous donor, we are hoping to make him more comfortable, and relieve some of his pain. Ferdinand is looking for his fur-ever home and he is oh-so-sweet.
Please think about donating to Free to Live to help Ferdinand and more dogs (and cats) in their care and follow us to see his progress.
Give us a call and let's see if we can help your pup with their arthritis pain also.

What do you call a home with two tri-pawds? HAPPY!
We wanted to share Miller's Cause Animal Rescue's post about our new baby Jessa. We cannot thank them enough for all that they did for her before we decided to adopt her. For everyone that has been meeting her and for all those that haven't met her, here is her story and a couple of videos of how wonderful she is doing now.

Thank you Miller's Cause Animal Rescue, Halo Animal Hospital, Brown SurgeryReferral, Veterinary Specialty Center, Oklahoma Chiropractic, and Lakeview Pet Hospital (Look at that knee working- Doc Cramer!) Thank you everyone for taking the time to help lil' Miss Jessa. It is amazing how far she has come, and how much she has blossomed since her surgeries-she just needed a chance to be a Border Collie, and now she is.

She is fitting right into the The Water Bark family, and giving Ralph and Odin a run for their money. Can't thank Angie enough for introducing us to this sweet little girl. Please read her story below...

·
Jessa wants to share her great news. SHE WAS ADOPTED
Jessa has a lot of people to thank for getting her to her own furever family.
Jessa came to Miller’s Cause in January after being found in a yard limping. Initially it was assumed she had been hit by a car. Once she was seen by Dr. Harris Halo Animal Hospital it was determined she actually had bilateral luxating patella’s. She was scheduled to see Dr Brown with Surgery Referral for repair. Once he examined her he identified more rear leg deformities and felt additional consults were indicated. Off to Stillwater Jessa went to see Dr. Dugat Specialty Center of Stillwater.
We all wanted to give Jessa the best possible chance at better mobility and to be pain free and be able to run and play like a young Border Collie should. After additional discussions with Dr. Brown we opted for a surgery on Jessa’s left leg which was her worst side and the one with the most abnormalities. Unfortunately despite initially seeming to be somewhat promising it didn’t provide the positive outcome we had hoped for.
Jessa then saw Dr Joran Whitley Chiro. We tried a special procedure with he and Dr Harris but unfortunately it didn’t give long term benefit either.
Jessa was going regularly to Water Bark and had won the hearts of many staff and patrons. Everyone wanted to see Jessa have pain relief and be a happy young playful Border Collie. Dan and Debbie offered to have Jessa see Dr. Cramer Pet Hospital as he had given good advice for their dog Odin.
Dr. Cramer spent over an hour reviewing Jessa’s history, examining her and discussing all the possible options and pros and cons for each for Jessa. Taking into account all the other wonderful practitioners who had been involved in her care and all the recommendations and interventions that had been discussed and tried we made the decision to amputate her left leg and once she was recovered from that surgery to go back and repair the right patella.
Jessa is now three weeks post repair and is ready to start her water rehab and build muscle and strength and start to be that happy playful pup we have all been working so hard for her for over the last 8 months.
Jessa is happy to join Odin and Ralph her new fur brothers and Debbie and Dan her new human parents and greet customers and their pets at The Water Bark. If you happen to stop by The Water Bark Jessa can usually be found at the front desk ready to say hi.
We couldn’t have asked for a better family for Jessa."

Thank you Elliott for letting us practice using the body board with you! He is so toy motivated, that he doesn't even realize how much work he is actually doing on the board in the water. Even though Elliott is young and has no known issues, working with him on the board helps to develop motor-skills but will also improve his core strength. It also helps him work to maintain his center of gravity on the board.
By having Elliott work on an unstable surface, we are challenging his core musculature, as well as activating several different muscle groups to work simultaneously, in a coordinated pattern. Holding his head up high helps him shift the weight to his back end, working the back legs.

Good job Elliott! So much fun to work with. We would love to work with your dog-give us a call 405-949-5440

Swimming Peanut Butter face!
Meet Gavin.
Gavin is a foster from Friends of the Shelter Foundation. He has been coming in to help strengthen up his rear leg(s) after surgeries from an injury and we are really enjoying his time here with us-and thank you to his secret donor for help in making this happen!

What a good lookin' guy Leo is! We enjoyed seeing him last Saturday.

Max is coming in to strengthen his hind legs again after having to go through two back surgeries. He is such a joy to have with us. Wish him luck on his journey back to being a healthy, active little Corgi boy again.

Finally...doing what we love.

Our previous dog Buddy started our thoughts on opening a facility like The Water Bark several years ago when he began have difficulty with his knees and his passion for playing ball never stopped-even when he became virtually blind and we had to drop the ball right in front of him for him to “get it”. He always did. His passion for continuing to try made us realize that if you give a dog a chance -and help to continue to live their lives as pain free and active as possible – they will most likely take you up on it. We are very excited to start The Water Bark and look forward to working with you and your beloved canine.
