Our mission is to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of pets and people in OKC. Open daily, 9 a.m-5:30 p.m. for lost and found and adoptions.

Oklahoma City Animal Welfare's mission is to promote and protect the health, safety and welfare of pets and people in OKC. OKC Animal Welfare serves more than 24,000 animals each year in the City of OKC, and we also provide animal sheltering services for the cities of Del City, Valley Brook and Tinker Air Force Base. You can adopt and look for lost pets at the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter. We also

respond to reports of animal cruelty, injured animals, loose dogs, animals that are dangerous or a nuisance and enforce OKC's animal ordinances. Anyone interested in seeing pictures of the animals we have available for adoption or to see found animals at the shelter can visit our web site at www.okc.gov/animalwelfare. to drop off an animals and 12 p.m.-5:30 p.m.

🐋 Peter, aka the "Land Whale" of the canine world! He’s a very big dog with a very big heart... and a very big need for snacks (he’s basically 90% stomach).

Peter is looking for a forever home where he can take up ALL the space on the couch (because let’s be real, it’s not your couch anymore, it’s his) and get all the yummy snacks your willing to give him! Did we mention he loves snacks?!!

Despite his extra-large size, he is a pretty gentle guy but does pull on his leash a little when he's ready to go!! Peter gets along well with other dogs and people of all sizes that he has met while here at the shelter.

🐋Peter A444510 is a 3 year old, 130 pound Great Dane mix. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. He currently has no adoption fee.

✨Adoptable FOSTER Highlight✨

Hi!

I’m Nate, an energetic, snuggly, fun German Shepherd mix. I am about two years old and weigh about 65 pounds. I'm good with other dogs, good on a leash, good in a crate, and good in the car. I love to play fetch and I'd be a great running, walking, or hiking buddy! I'm up for pretty much any adventure you have in mind.

Like a lot of dogs who have been hungry in the past, I get a bit worked up around food and I need a family who will commit to feeding me in my crate, separately from other dogs. I'm also still working on not jumping, so I may not be ideal for a home with little kiddos. I'm working on housebreaking and making great progress in my foster home!

I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and ready to find my forever family. If you think that family might be yours, please contact my foster mom at [email protected]!!

❓Did you know that January is National Walk a Pet Month!

Don't have a pet to walk? We got you!! Our shelter dogs absolutely love the break from the kennels and getting to get outside and stretch their legs. We have a couple ways for you walk a shelter dog this month:

1️⃣. Join us on our public : Typically, we walk every Wednesday and Saturday mornings. Check out the events tab here on our page to sign up.

2️⃣. Flash Foster: Check out any adoptable dog 6 months and up and take them out on a walk. Go downtown and stroll around Myriad Botanical Gardens or Scissortail Park. Check out https://www.okc.gov/departments/parks-recreation/trails to find some other walking trails around the city.

3️⃣. Adopt: Permanently adopt a dog to walk every day 😉!!

Whatever choice you make, you can't make a wrong one! Help brighten the life of a shelter dog and celebrate 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ with us!!

✨ Adoptable FOSTER Highlight! ✨

Meet Hendrix! She is currently in a foster home waiting on her forever home. Her foster family says🗣:

"Hendrix is about two years old and is sweet, lovable, curious, and energetic. She loves her daily walks and would do well with someone who also enjoys walks. She thinks she’s about 25 pounds the way she wants to sit on your lap, but she is actually about 45 pounds. She is great with my six year old son and loves playing with toys especially her rope for tug of war or playing fetch with it. She’s done pretty well with my smaller, older female dog, but may do better with dogs of her own size, age and activity level. She is house and crate trained, though not a fan of her crate. She has learned commands, ‘sit’, ‘shake’, and ‘lay down’ within the first week or so and is a smart girl and eager to please. She would make a great addition to any family willing to put in a little time, energy, and love! ❤️ "

She is always happy and just absolutely loves everyone she comes across. Sesame came to us as astray in early November and she is really hoping to start 2025 in her new home! Can you help make her New Year wish a reality?

🪕Banjo! This is 50% adorable and 50% hilarious!

We mean, really just look at his face! Banjo is a comedian trapped in a pug's body. He has lots to talk about too and will not shy away from any conversation. Banjo is housebroken, gets along fantastic with kids and other dogs but has never been around cats.

With a face as adorable as hers and a name like Jingle, you’d think she would have been adopted at Christmas!

This pittie princess is ready to go home! Jingle loves life and she will help brighten yours with her happy personality. Jingle gets along well with other dogs and has gotten along well with people of all sizes, all though she can be a bit jumpy sometimes. She's just so excited!

Cresselia is a fabulous, 10 month old Mastiff mix. She loves to cuddle, chew on bones and play with stuffies and gets along great with other dogs. She is your typical happy-go-lucky puppy!

Lucy and Sambo - they have shared every moment of their life together and we are really hoping to help find them a new home -- TOGETHER!

Sambo and Lucy faced a curved ball when their life took an unexpected turn and they had nowhere else to go but here. Age is really just a number with these two. They are spunky and love to go on walks. This senior pair LOVE each other, but we do understand not everyone can adopt two dogs at once, we are sure hoping they can stay together! This is where the power of a share comes in. Help share their faces, who knows!? Your share just might be the one that finds their forever home -- TOGETHER!
