It's Spring!!! Happy first day of spring, flower folks.
Last year we'd just returned to OKC after the funeral, having decided to move and I'd been having vertigo every time I stood up or laid down for a week. This year, Nadiya "NEEDS TO TELL MOMMY ABOUT THE VERY RARE FLOWER FROM THE MINT FAMILY, HENBIT" seen at the park. She's the one that keeps pointing out that the alliums are up, the daffodils and tulips. - Gratitude - Resilience - Weird! - , it says here. Guess the plant from its March photo! Place your answer under the photo along with what prize you want me to send you for correct answers: seeds or tubers. Happy growing!!

Leopard Lily, Iris domestica (was Belamcanda chinesis), Blackberry lily. Foliage is taller (up to 3') in full sun, cheery flowers and full- fan iris leaves. Cut off the seed pods for floral arrangements, and so they don't escape.

$7.97 White flowering dogwood, Cornus florida, in 3-qt #1 container in south OKC.

The most spectacular of the native, flowering trees, plant instead of Callery pear, single- or multi-trunked tree with a spreading crown and long-lasting, showy, white spring iconic blooms. A lovely, small, flowering tree with short trunk and crown of spreading branches, scarlet-red fall foliage. Hosts the Spring Azure butterfly.

As recommended below, plant in fall or early spring. When planting from a container, provide micro shade.

You won't want to miss our upcoming Garden School Native Farming Solutions with Travis Andrews!

Travis serves as a board member for the Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association and is the founder of Native Farming Solutions, a local non-profit group dedicated to the preservation of American Indian seeds and cultivation techniques.
