Welcome, Percy!

This sweet boy started life on the streets of New Mexico, but eventually won the dog lottery and landed with a wonderful family in the mountains of Colorado. They live a very active lifestyle and need reliable recalls so he can hike more safely with them! We will also be working on some confidence building, as he hasn’t experienced a lot of things as a pet dog until his adoption. He is already giving us some low tail wags and we can’t wait to see him grow!

Welcome Gunner to GHC!

This lucky boy was adopted by an incredibly kind family, and has been settling in to life as a Colorado dog this month. They want his manners to better match his housemate, who already graduated our four week program. He also needs a lot of work on his crate skills, and some confidence building/communication with humans! We look forward to seeing him progress.

It’s graduation day for this smiley boy😁💛

Roya has just one more week left with us and we’re so proud of how far she’s come since day one. She has shown us her of motivation to work and please more and more each day! Her ability to work through things has improved tremendously (especially with all of the energy she has😉). And off course she’s perfecting those off leash skills!

Timber’s graduation is coming right up, so he’s been busy refining his commands and fine tuning things with distractions! Dogs, cats, humans, you name it - all part of the generalization process. He can show off for his family tomorrow! 💛

Hank is working hard at perfecting his manners in public, off leash, and around his buddies! We love to see his self control especially when getting love, since he’s got that oh so approachable face😊 He is right on track!

Pretty girl Roya is making us proud this holiday season! She’s displaying some significant self control with increasing distractions, and building some solid manners that will be a gift to her human for years to come.

Hank has completed his first week of school! He’s practicing some impulse control, loose leash walking, and working around some small distractions. Next he will embark on field trips!

We have just a few days left with Finch and Toast! They’ve learned how to work together, but also apart. Toast has been working on his crating/loading skills and recalling away from his brother. Finch is still shaping away at some simple agility and refreshing his other manners. Good boys!

I think this is a girl who is ready to graduate today! 💛

Sweet Sadie is approaching the finish line for her program with us! She has been working on all kinds of life skills, to make her an even better family member at home. Time to soar, good girl!

Coby has been working on his manners and taking them to new levels! We are channeling all of that young lab energy into proofing the commands he already knows from home. We will continue to increase the level of distraction with this fella, and we can’t wait to see him thrive. Such a handsome boy🥰

If you think I’m keeping this cuteness to myself, you are wrong. Little Lola is 12 weeks old, and learning the things!

Rascally girls Sedona and Bisbee fly the coop tomorrow! They have been so busy, we needed an extra long video to showcase their hard work. They have come such a long way in a month, and it’s time to teach their humans what the next steps are at home. Good girls!

Golden Heart Canine is family operated company owned by myself (Becca) and my husband (Michael) Murphy. I grew up in Montrose, getting my start as a dog trainer through a local 4-H group. After graduating with a degree in Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado in 2007, I went on to attend Triple Crown Academy in Hutto, Texas (now known as Starmark Academy.) There, in 2008, I met my goal of becoming a Certified Dog Trainer and Behavior Specialist, my faithful golden 'heart dog' Gabe by my side. Since that time, I have had the privilege of growing my experience and knowledge under various professional dog trainers on the Front Range, as well as running a chapter in a thriving dog rescue for many years. I have now trained hundreds of dogs of numerous breeds, temperaments, and personalities. I also compete in agility, competition obedience, and rally obedience with our three 'All American' rescued dogs Gabe, Walden, and Griswold, as well as the up and coming newest additions: a Berger Blanc Suisse named Brütten and a sport bred Golden Retriever/Border Collie mix, Deacon.
