UPDATE: The owner of this dog has been identified. Unfortunately, as is sometimes the case, the person who claimed to find the dog "outside in the cold", is actually the owner. Instead of surrendering this poor, already confused little female the legitimate way, and providing the most basic of info, such as the dog's name, the owners decided 3 days before Christmas that lying worked better for them.

Meet Lotus!

Lotus joined us when she was just six weeks old, after she was found abandoned at a local Old Bridge park. Sadly, month after month, she faced new medical challenges. Despite it all, this sweet girl remains the happiest and most loving soul.

Lotus suffers from frequent urinary tract infections, likely caused by a suspected ectopic ureter. After consultations with several vets and specialists, we also discovered that she has renal dysplasia. When Lotus first arrived, she was malnourished, had urine burns, and was leaking urine—a heartbreaking start for such a young pup.

We will never know the reasons that Lotus was dumped alone in a park at such a young age. Unfortunately, cases like hers often stem from irresponsible breeding practices and a lack of understanding about genetic health.

We’re incredibly grateful that Lotus found her way to us. She deserves so much more than what her early life offered. Thanks to our loving and dedicated staff, volunteers, and donors, Lotus has received care, training, and support every step of the way.

A special thank you goes to volunteer Dennis Kelleher, and his non-profit, “Homes for all Paws”, who are generously sponsoring Lotus's ectopic ureter surgery. Words cannot express our gratitude. This expensive surgery will significantly improve Lotus's quality of life, reducing her urine leakage and making her days much more comfortable. While her condition may limit her lifespan—some estimates range from 1 to 5 years—every moment of comfort and happiness is worth it.

How can you help? If you would like to donate to Lotus’ surgery, you can do so through "Homes for all Paws" Venmo link below or at their website https://www.facebook.com/Homesforallpaws/

Stay tuned for updates on Lotus’ progress in the new year!

Remember Chewy? He got adopted!

After spending weeks at the shelter, Chewy captured the heart of a kind adopter who wanted to give him the love and care he deserves. Though they preferred to keep their adoption moment private, we’re thrilled to see Chewy embark on this new chapter of his life.
