Donations needed please!

Our shelter took in so many new cats in the last half of 2024, and it sadly seems like the first few weeks of 2025 is no different. Our infirmary is bursting with new intakes, all waiting for their turn to be checked out at the vet, before being assigned a room if given a clean bill of health. Many of the kitties in the infirmary and in our rooms are in need of the special foods listed in our Amazon Wish list. These kitties need some coaxing to eat or extra food to maintain their weight. Sprinkles was found in this frigid weather wandering around in desperate need of someone to care for her. This sweet petite girl is painfully thin, was bleeding and there is visible trauma to her left ear. Once she goes to the vet, we will know more. Amazingly this darling girl still managed the cutest chirping noises like a little bird when I petted her. If anyone can help Sprinkles and our other cats in need, we could use your help to keep our shelves stocked with a variety of foods: bisques (we never have enough of these), stews, broths, baby food and pates.

Other items we are in need of is litter for our infirmary, a new steam mop or two to keep our shelter sanitary, and those self heating blanket pads for our catio cats that refuse to come inside.

A Purr-tinent Reminder to Check Your Car For Hidden Hitchhikers!

As temperatures drop and chilly days start to settle in, we want to remind everyone of a simple yet life-saving habit. Cats and kittens often seek warmth in unexpected places during the colder months—like the engine bays of cars.

Before you start your car, take a moment to check under the hood. Look for any signs of cats or kittens seeking refuge. A quick peek can save lives and prevent heartbreaking accidents.

If you spot a cat or kittens, handle the situation with care. Approach gently, keeping in mind they might be a tad scared. A friendly hood bang can also help them scamper to safety! Let's keep our feline friends snug and safe this chilly season.

OUR LITTLE KITTEN HAS GONE TO HER NEW HOME! 12-31-24

as of 12-28-24, we are no longer taking appointments for this girl. Be patient though, we have more kittens coming up for adoption next week.

We currently have one little beiner-butt looking for a home. She was passed over by a couple of families, as she was a bit shyer than her siblings. She has come out of her shell quite well now that she's solo, and is looking for a patient family to call her own. She is about 10 weeks old, currently vaccinated, FeLV/FIV negative, and will be microchipped prior to adoption. Her adoption fee is $50, and includes a certificate for a discount on her spaying at a participating vet, as well as her rabies vaccination when she's old enough. If you are interested in meeting this little girl, please call New London Animal Control at 860-447-5231 and set up a time to visit.

Why In Home Grooming Is Right for You and Your Pet

Are you skipping grooming visits because it’s stressful to get your pet into the car, or are you just looking for a more personalized experience? In-home grooming is one of the newest trends in the pet grooming industry, offering many of the perks of mobile grooming with a bit of a twist.

Fast growing in popularity, many pet owners are opting to have their groomers work with their pets directly in their home - as opposed to a mobile grooming van. Both offer similar levels of convenience, but in-home grooming offers a new level of low-stress care where the pet parent can not only be sure where their pet is being groomed, but also that their pet is in a safe and comfortable environment familiar to them. This is not only great for anxious or senior pets, but for animals that get overstimulated in new environments. It works out well for cats and small to medium sized dogs.

Here’s five reasons why you might consider trying an in-home groomer:
