Everyone knows the saying you “sometimes got to stop and smell the roses” well I believe the same for just taking time and picturing a few calves that are really coming into form. This group really is exploding like weeds right now!!

As of right now all our bulls are spoken for this year!! So excited how this group of bulls developed and already next week we starting breeding again for next year. I wanted to share a hidden gem of ours that we decided to retain for ourselves is this stud. He comes out of a 10 year old dam that has produced a lot of females that have been retained back into our herd and I finally got a bull out of her and when he grew up to look like this I knew I had to keep him around. He is the definition of a bull I know will be a female maker but also add a ton of stretch to his calves. I can’t wait to see what he does for our operation!! PS - if you like him we have a full blood brother in the pen currently that is a spitting image of him!!

One of the most uniform bulls that you will find in the pen! You can hardly find any flaws in this bull as he is put together with a great combination of muscle, depth, and style!! As a calf he always had that bull look and there was never a moment that I thought he wouldn’t make the bull sale. So often in this industry there seems to be way more bad stories and less success stories then we all like to admit. But finally think we turned the corner on this story enough to finally post about it!!! So around here we have been having extremely warm weather for this time of year so that turns into early spring type conditions “mud”. Unfortunately one of our cows ended up calving in a mud hole and had twin red heifers. By the time we found them one was doing pretty good but the other you could tell was in cold shock. So we knew we had to act quickly and took it straight to the house. Put it in the bath and constantly kept circulating new warm water to get the body temp up. Within a couple hours we had the calf standing. The mother without question accepted both and had been amazing to work with. Got to share the success stories when we can!!! In the comments is a video of the weiner dogs getting to meet their first calf 😂

I won’t have all the bulls highlighted before the open house this weekend so just wanted to make a post with all the bulls. You can see the quality from top to bottom in this years group!! I’m so happy how these guys keep growing and for some of these the pictures/videos don’t do them justice as they were taken a month and a half ago. Was lucky enough to make a quick trip to Canada and tour some amazing operations with beautiful herds and stout sets of bulls. Also stopped at the Golden Rule sale on our way back through. Got to catch up with some friends while also making some new friends as well!! Well worth the time and miles but happy to be back home. This cold is getting a bit excessive at this point especially when we get the calves dry and then moms just get the ears wet again so we figured we would try a strategy we haven’t used in awhile 😂 calves are not a fan but seems to work good!!

Right here is one of the big studs in our pen of bulls this year. Since he was little, he just had that look that we knew he was going to make one heck of a herd sire!! He has so much length and muscle over the top to just make your jaw drop. He also comes out of one our top young cows who has now become a Damn of Merit in her first year of eligibility!! She has now had 3 calves and everyone of them has been sold on our sale so you can guarantee this bull will perform. He comes in at a 767 Adj WW and a 1315 Adj YW!! I feel like I haven’t posted much lately and normally by now I’ve given a few sneak peaks into how the bulls are developing but boy has this fall gone by fast. Finally took the time this afternoon to get some quick pictures of some of the bulls and they just keep impressing me everytime I walk in the pen. So I want to do a little bit of an interactive post tonight!!

You know the saying “Sometimes you got to stop and smell the roses” well sometimes you got to stop and check of the beasts developing in our pastures. Wow could I not be more excited about these calves!! Excited to get them weaned next weekend and start developing this next years bull crop. All I can say is WOW WOW WOW
