🎉 Huge congratulations to Mindy Davis on the purchase of Gallod Keeping Time “Davies”! 🐴✨ We’re beyond excited to welcome both Mindy and Davies to our show string in 2025! We can’t wait to see them shine in the ring. Watch for this pair in both riding and driving classes!

The last month has been a whirlwind, so we are playing catch up on our Facebook posts.
Our crew had a fabulous time at WPCSA Nationals! We brought a large group of people as well as 16 ponies and we couldn’t be happier with how everyone performed! The show was beautifully run by incredible staff members who even fed us throughout the week! We are so thankful for the wonderful time that we had with our incredible Welsh Family and Welsh Ponies!

🏆New Deadline to Sign Up for Welsh Awards at Pony Finals 2024!🏆

Eligibility MUST be finalized by Tuesday, August 6th at noon! The Welsh Booth at ringside will be open and available for assistance starting Monday at noon!

If you have a Welsh or part Welsh pony that’s registered with the Welsh Pony & Cob Society of America (WPCSA) you’re eligible for special awards!

Six ribbons (neck sashes) in each division, presented in the ring with a neck garland for champion.
Four grand champions, regular purebred, regular half/part Welsh, green purebred & green half/part Welsh each receive a keeper trophy, neck garland, halter and $250 stipend.

Watch Rollingwoods Walk Softly and Alex Clark’s winning run last night in the Carriage Driving Gambler’s Choice at the Germantown Charity! The pair not only took the win in the pony division, but they also had the highest scoring run of the night!

It is safe to say that this past weekend was well spent doing what we love most with the people who make us smile the most!

The best part about showing Welsh is the “family reunion” we get to have at horse shows! We had a wonderful time catching up with lots of old friends at the Texas Rose Horse Park this weekend!

The past four years with Rollingwoods Walk Softly AOH, “Sophie” have been an exciting ride! It all began in 2019 with a 5:00 am Thanksgiving text to Joanna from dressage rider, Elaine McIngvale— Sophie’s “first mother”. Elaine informed Joanna that due to unforeseen circumstances, she was unable to continue riding; however, because Elaine loved Sophie and knew she was much too talented not to be used, she offered her back to Rollingwoods. We jumped at the offer and Alex Clark, who did not have a mount for the upcoming show year, was paired with Sophie. The rest is history!

The unforeseen pandemic canceled what should have been the beginning of Alex and Sophie’s first show season together. With no horse shows and the world being shut down, we spent lots of time at the barn. After watching and assisting in the driving training of several client ponies, Alex walked in the barn one day and said “Let’s start teaching Sophie to drive today!” and so we did. The mare took to driving very naturally and just like that, Sophie added another “job” to her resume. When shows began again, Sophie proved herself to be an excellent show pony, both under saddle and in-harness, bringing home countless blue ribbons and championships throughout her four years on our show string! She and Alex were quite the pair and earned many National titles together. As all ponies do, Sophie of course has a favorite “job”… cones! She loves to show off her beautiful strong trot while turning and burning around a course. This year at the Welsh American National Show, she had the fastest cones course of all the entries!

This March, Sophie earned the final points to receive her Welsh Award of Honor and we could not be prouder. Congratulations, Rollingwoods Walk Softly AOH!

We had so much fun at the Red River Spring Fling Pony Show that our candid pictures deserved a post of their own!

Getting to see our “Welsh Family” is one of the best parts about horse showing. There is truly no community like the Welsh Community and we are so grateful to be a part of it! It is so wonderful to be able to call your competitors some of your closest friends!

We had a wonderful time kicking off our show season this weekend in Sulfur Springs Texas at the Red River Spring Fling!

We added some new members to our team and show string and we could not be more pleased with how everyone performed.
Placings are included under each picture.

We would also like to say a HUGE thank you to Jaci Baxter, Denise Dougherty, and the entire Red River Show Management team for a wonderful show! We are so thankful for y’all’s hard work getting everyone in and out of the ring and keeping the show running smoothly this weekend! It was so wonderful to see so many new faces and to get to catch up with old friends!

Cuteness overall!! Shaqaveli Harris asked for a Birthday Photo Shoot for her 4 year old daughter, Harper, who is one of our riders and this is how it turned out!!! We love our kids!!!

We love any opportunity we get to show our young ponies off, so the Kym K Smith Young Pony Championships have always been a bucketlist item for us! With the central show being held for the first time this year, it was finally within driving distance for us and we were so excited to attend. Lauren Smith joined us as a Junior Rider and performed phenomenally, riding our Rollingwoods Talk Is Cheap for Reserve Champion in the Hunter Pony 4 & 5 Year Olds 2 foot division and Overall High Point Welsh, as well as piloting Rollingwoods Hot Topic to Reserve Champion and High Point Welsh in the Hunter Pony 4 & 5 Year Olds 2’3 division. Additionally, Joanna Wilburn had nice rounds on Rollingwoods Show of Hands, making for a great experience for this talented up and coming pony.
We would like to extend a huge thank you to Kym K Smith for her incredible generosity in sponsoring this event, as it was not only an invaluable experience for our young ponies, but it was also a dream for us as pony lovers to attend.

Day 1 of Welsh Nationals! Up with the sun, braiding and taking care of the ponies!!! We are looking forward to a wonderful show with beautiful ponies and fabulous people!!! We are wishing everyone a great show!!!
