This year I will only take in 50 ducks. Said that last year but I failed to hold to that. I will this year though. Need more time with my family and age rapidly slowing me down. No GEESE at all. Do not bring me a bird that has had its neck wrung, had a finisher used on it, wrapped in newspaper or paper towels, dog chewed, put in Walmart bags or panty hose. I will refuse it. Use heavy duty ziplocs, multiple ice bags or wrap in multiple layers of Saran Wrap then bag for better results. I’m going to $425 per bird this year and will require a 50% deposit. You will be contacted if problems arise on the position you want and when I’m starting on your bird as I expect them to be picked up promptly and balance paid at that time, preferably in cash. I highly suggest you pick a bird killed late season for optimum plumage. If you want one flying, pay particular attention to wing damage. Again 50 ducks, no geese. If you want to get on the list contact me and you will have till a week after season to get me your bird. If not your spot will be dropped. You can text or call me at 901-331-9417.

I had a special bird picked up yesterday. My oldest granddaughter stopped by after our teal hunt and picked up her first duck!

Ethan Kivelle picked up his Arkansas killed Mallard x Pintail hybrid the other day. It had a little breast damage that I had to hide with this pose, but both of us were pleased with how it turned out.

At this time, my freezers are full and I am no longer accepting birds. It is possible that I may open my books up for more birds in July. If you want to store your bird and contact me later, please store your bird correctly. I recommend wrapping the feet with a damp paper towel, folding the bird’s head over its back, and placing it in a large, airtight plastic bag like a garbage, ice, or ziplock bag, with as much air forced out as possible. Do not put it in panty hose. Do not put it newspaper. Do not freeze it with the neck straight out. Thank you.

Meet my new friend, Amelia. She celebrated her upcoming 10th birthday a few days early by picking up her deadmount I had the pleasure of doing for her. She killed all the ducks herself this past season with her Benelli!

Effective Immediately unless we have already spoken and made arrangements:
I am only going to take in 50 ducks this year. Price will be $400 per bird and I will not take in any geese, swans or cranes. I will require a 50% deposit at the time of drop off also. Please take the time to wrap your bird as air tight as possible. No newspaper, Walmart bags or panty hose. Freezer Ziplocs, garbage bags, or heavy duty ice bags are good. If you want to go a step further you can wrap the feet with wet paper towels then wrap that with aluminum foil. Please grade your birds for the best possible mount. Broken wings, depending on where, can compromise your desired position. Don’t wring the necks or use a Finisher. Common ducks, i.e. Mallards, etc. are better saved from Christmas and later. Early birds have pinfeathers that affects plumage. Call me with any questions. Thank you.

I quit mounting Turkeys when I met John Beard of Birds Only Taxidermy. His work is top notch. This is my second triple bearded Gould’s turkey he has done. Can’t say enough about how good of a job John does. You won’t be disappointed sending him your trophy bird.

Today, I had the pleasure of being visited by PJ Trojanowski her dad Eric and mother Melanie. In 2017, PJ was diagnosed with kidney cancer. Eric decided a hobby would help manage stress during this trying time in their lives. Of all things, he decided on duck hunting. They bought a puppy and trained it themselves and have spent tons of time hunting together since. During their travels from Waco to St Jude, they came across my podcast series with my sons on The End of the Line. Eric messaged me asking if there was a possibility of coming to tour my trophy room the next time they came to Memphis. Without hesitation, I told them to please come see me! Meeting this young girl will be a highlight of my taxidermy and hunting career. She is such a warrior and has an amazingly positive outlook on life! And to top it off, after their visit, Eric texted me and told me that the results of her scan came today. It’s clean! Her kidney function and blood pressure were all normal! Cancer is still in remission!
