I have sold out of the pullets I raised that were hatched in October but I still have quite a few roosters not yet crowing. I had ordered 200 assorted pullet chicks to be delivered this week but found out the are back ordered til June 14th. I have a source for barnyard mix hatching eggs so I will be setting incubators starting this weekend, thier roosters are salmon felvoler, barred rock/salmon felvoler mix and 2 golden laced Wyandottes. Thier hen are golden laced Wyandottes, silver laced Wyandottes, black s*x link and barred rock.

Got another 200 pullett chicks in today. Trying to get to where I have npip certified pullets available every month. Everything goes right then around the middle of June they will be 18 weeks old and ready for new homes. I got a mixture of 10 to 25 of each of these breeds.

I saw were fertilizer prices were dropping and as most everything grown outside of Florida and Arizona is planted so yes prices should drop as demand drops. I did an experiment this year. I use a deep litter system for chicken coops. I use the chickens to make compost. The garden and container plants where I used the compost are 2 to 3 times bigger and producing more than the plants watered with a national name brand water soluble chemical fertilizer. I prefer to stay away from chemical fertilizers because of cost and many of the nutrients are lost to run off. I know large operations rely on chemical fertilizers to keep labor and other costs down and produce better yields but for my little garden I will stay with the old fashioned natural fertilizer.

With spring coming soon remember the 2nd and 4th Saturday sale starts in March. Also for those of you whom have livestock remember our fair dates are July 25th to 30th this year. All barn shows are open to Morgan county residents and also any county that borders Morgan county. This would be a great time to get yourself and or your kids into showing. I am looking for sponcerships of best in show trophies and maybe raffle items. I would like to see really nice best in show trophies my goal is 4 feet or taller if I can get the needed sponcer interest. There are also 1st, 2nd and 3rd place ribbons with premiums paid out for each ribbom won. It is a fun experience and now is the time to start planning. Not to mention the horse show, pagents, demo derby and mudsling.
