So much sanding, but worth it! Original hardware. $45 all in. $1,736 in time. 🤭
We are a small farm and family in Olympia, WA with the goal of raising clean, local food for our family and yours.

Did a little foraging this past weekend to make a Christmas arrangement. We have a holly tree at the back of our property and for a couple years I’ve thought about doing this. I’m hoping it lasts longer than fresh flowers!
Furniture kick continues, new dresser for my Claire. 🥰 Swipe for before.
Finished these side tables a couple weeks ago, loving the raw wood look right now! Swipe 👉🏼 for before.
I’m skipping directly over horrific farrowing #1 of 2022 and moving straight to mason bee season. We will also not discuss the possibility of horrific farrowing #2 of 2022 in a few days and instead focus on how lovely spring will be this year. Cherry trees producing? Yes, please. New cut flower garden beds for the win? Let’s goooo, little mason bees.
I absolutely COULD NOT help myself. Well played, Joann Fabrics, well played.
Now we’re those people.
But the goats are so happy, so it’s ok.
Hoping your Christmas yesterday was filled with family and friends, hope, and the joy of Jesus’ birth!
Who loves a decent before and after? Our kid’s bathroom, minor renovation, 10 years after we built here. Felt like it was time for a fresh change. (Master and powder bath to come)…
Sourdough.
Nuff said.
Woke up with the fall baking bug this morning.
Enjoy your day today, friends. 🍁
Last dahlia bouquet of the season.
We grew three miniature watermelons this season, and they are delicious! Of course, we had to pick out the seeds (first world problems) and then enjoyed the super juicy, sweet, crisp melon. Such an exciting new addition to the greenhouse this year. 🍉
Apple and pear season! And with all of the bees this year (mason and honey bees), our fruit trees produced more than ever. Apple crisp, apple pear sauce, it’s all delicious. Any new, fun apple or pear recipes appreciated. 😆
Good night. 😴 🌱
Indigo cherry tomatoes, should continue to get more purple and delicious with time and heat. Hoping to eat with fresh basil and motz.
Dreaming of the eggplant parmesan I’m going to make once this dude is done growing. And, just a good reason to use the taboo eggplant emoji. 🍆 🍆 🍆
Golden hour and lilies for daaaaayyyssss.
This little watermelon is growing quick! It’s the biggest one we have so far, and a good handful of others are about the size of a dime. Hopeful it will make it to “edible” stage. 🍉
Thank you to .farms.essentials for donating your time and energy and finding our elusive queen bee today! Huge surprise, the queen we purchased as a replacement a few weeks ago after our hive swarmed (Cardi Bee was her name, if you must know) was not there and Matt found our current queen who has been laying very well. Where did she come from? I have no idea. Novice bee keepers here. But she was darling and Matt marked her so we can *hopefully* find her again.
And I know you are dying to know, her name is Beeyoncé.
Lily season! Timing well with the end of peony season.
Today we celebrate, arguably, the best dad on the planet. Jase, the way you care for and love our kids is humbling and inspiring. Thank you for always leading by example and in love.
Congratulations on your Best Dad of 2021 award. 🏆
I cut two of our Sarah Bernhardt peonies this week and each day has been more beautiful than the last as they bloom in our kitchen. They smell incredible and have lasted longer than I thought they would! Definitely planning on planting more this fall and finding a few more varieties.
My new favorite way to bake our sourdough is in a Dutch oven. It turns out a boule that is crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Pile on the tomato jam and scrambled eggs and I’m in heaven.
The most beautiful magenta apple blossom buds.
Costco strikes again, solving all of my problems.
There’s an entire, and very large, turkey carcass in there. One of our home raised turkeys that was around 28 # when it was whole. We ground the meat and saved the carcasses for stock. We have 5 more of these bad boys in the freezer.
This sucker is 38 quarts. That’s like almost 10 gallons of stock.
No, I can’t lift it. What’s my plan for when it’s done? I don’t have one.
Yet.
I’m gonna need more jars.
Gertie wants you to kick back and relax this weekend. 😎
Whoops, woah!
I could watch her bounce for hours.
We have a TON of eggs! $4/doz, as many as you need.
I can leave out in the cooler for you with ice in the am and you can swing by to collect them at your leisure! Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, Apple Pay. Just shoot me a text, or I can bring them to you if I see you on the reg.
They are delish! Quiche, fried, boiled, poached, soft baked, scrambled, hashbrown bake, make a cake, bake your heart out, deviled, egg salad, fried egg sandwich, breakfast for dinner, breakfast for breakfast, pickled (keep meaning to try this!), eggs Benedict, omelette, I could go on. Seriously a cheap and protein packed, farm raised meal, my friends. 🥚 🍳 🥚🍳🥚🍳🥚🍳
Pear blossoms make my heart happy.

Sadly, our little guy didn’t make it last night. Wish I had a good reason why, or knew exactly why, but I don’t. He never stood up on his own. I was with him at 1 am when he passed. It doesn’t seem to get easier. We’ve named his big sister Gertie. She’s sweet, somewhat cautious, and let’s us hold her without a peep. She’s darling. 🖤🤍🖤🤍 . . . . . #thereddoorfarm #nigeriandwarfgoats #farmlife #babygoats
Give me all the beeeeessssss!!! Seriously, so much fun already, I could sit and watch them for hours. We’ve learned a little, and there is A TON to keep learning! Such interesting little creatures! RIP to our peanut butter loving, bat ear flapping, pig racing, grunt talking, giant head nuzzling, dog sitting, honey bear of a pig. I will miss your company more than I am comfortable admitting. Thank you for all you’ve taught me and all you have given our family, and our friend’s families. You easily led me to love farming, and you challenged me. Our little allotment will not ever be the same without you. 🖤🤍 . . . . #thereddoorfarm #winnie #berkshirepigs #honeybear #batearpig #rip #weloveyouwinnie
Guess who loves overwintered kale that has bolted? These two pregnant little biddies do. And I mean that in a totally non offensive and respectful way. . . . . . #thereddoorfarm #littlebiddiesforlife #goatsofinstagram #kaleisgoodforyou #growwhatyoueat #givewhatyougrowtoyourgoats
It’s meat chick season! 44 little fluff balls that magically turn into delicious, plump 7-8# roasters in 8 weeks. Add fresh water, high protein feed, pasture, and a decent amount of manual labor, and poof! Sheila has a first class view of Winnie eating her breakfast. Her piglets have ventured outside just a few feet, but come right back in to get cozy under the heat lamp. They are stout little pigs and love to play and wrestle. Sheila ended up retaining 4 piglets, unbeknownst to us, and has passed them over the last two days. She’s on a course of penicillin and seemed to be feeling better this morning, though she’s not quite her normal self just yet. Some warmer weather this coming week will be helpful for all of us. Our little bottle baby, Winnie’s teeny runt named Nugget, ended up passing last night. We did everything we could do. Highs and lows. . . . . . #thereddoorfarm #farmingishardontheheart #strongereveryday #berkshires #hampshire #getthissnowoutofhere
