A personal story:
When we brought Gracie home from the corgi rescue, she was 11 years old. Mary was having a hard time finding someone willing to take on an elderly dog. She'd been neglected, passed around, and was anxious and overweight. I'm a sucker for an underdog, if you'll pardon the pun. She was supposed to be a foster, "just for the night" (well, that's what I told my husband anyway), but she ended up a part of our family very quickly. Today we are celebrating her 16th birthday! Her weight is under control; she's still a little anxious, but she is far from neglected. We all love her so much and she is very happy to have her forever home, finally. Happy Birthday, Gracie! Thank you, Mary, for trusting us with this sweet pupper!

Our most senior resident, Quest, had visitors this week! His owner, Sarah Petrie, and her friend Zoë stopped by to give old "Freckles" (my nickname for him) some love. He's such a sweet boy. 🥰
Spencer was there to supervise.

Wojtek Kwiatkowski will be in town next month if anyone is interested in getting photos taken of their horse(s). We have worked with him several times and have always been extremely happy with his work. He will send you a lot of proofs, and trust me, it's very difficult to choose among them!

Congratulations to Sage! Nine healthy puppies. Sage is our sassy little Swedish Vallhund, and she makes adorable babies!

Also, one of our boarders brought her goats over to eat down some of the brush. Quest and Drummer found them very interesting!

A huge congratulations to the Tumwater High School Equestrian Team! After a bumpy start and some last minute horse swaps, the drill team persevered and brought home the gold at PNWIC, the regional competition featuring the best of Washington and Oregon! These kids (and their horses) work so incredibly hard and should be very proud of themselves. Also, team members Madison and Lily got the gold in cow sorting! Way to go, Tumwater! 💚💛💚💛
EDIT TO ADD: I should have mentioned that one of our boarders, Brody, is on the team and he will be drill captain next year. 😊

We are so proud of our sasy little Sage! She won Best of Breed at the Fletcher, North Carolina, All Breed Show against 40 other dogs! She even beat out a former Westminster champion. 🤩
Thanks to Judge Nancy Bodine for this lovely win.
