Jimmy started PT last year after having surgery at Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center for a left ACL/CCL tear. He underwent a TPLO procedure to stabilize his knee and began rehab soon after. He progressed quickly in PT despite his other limitations - arthritis of the left knee, patellar luxation of the right knee, and a previous fracture to his right ankle. His pet parents worked hard in PT and helped Jimmy get back to his happy, healthy self. They say he is even stronger than before his injury! Very proud of you Jimmy!

Ivy is a 5 y.o. Dachshund that was having difficulty walking. She was seen by the neurologist at VCA Midwest Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, Dr. Donaldson. She was diagnosed with cervical, mid-back, and low-back disc herniations (also known as IVDD).

Along with the veterinary medical treatment provided at VCA Midwest, she was recommended Physical Therapy. Thus far we have utilized medical massage, strength training, as well as balance and coordination exercises to help her move easier. Her pet parents feel she has improved significantly since starting PT. They report she is moving more often throughout the day, her movement is more coordinated, and she is even chasing after rabbits - which she had not done since they adopted her!

We are so proud of the hard work they are putting in. Keep it up Ivy!

For today's we have Lucky showing off his skills navigating this obstacle course.

Lucky suffered a disc herniation in his lumbar spine. He had surgery at KSU and started PT after to help improve his strength, balance and coordination.

Prior to starting PT, Lucky was unstable and wobbly when walking on flat ground (without any obstacles). After PT, Lucky can navigate many obstacles of varied heights and stability. He is now able to navigate his home easier and his parents feel more comfortable letting him roam inside and outside on his own.

He has come a long way since his injury and surgery. Great job Lucky! We are so proud of you!

Please consider donating to help a great cause! Sadie Dog Fund has helped so many pets get vital care! Thank you SDF and Pam for all you do!❤️

Over the past few months, we have been giving away Sirius swag to some of our lucky clients. However, this month we have decided to give back to our local community by supporting a rescue. Our team collectively decided which rescue Sirius Vet will be donating towards. For every like or reaction this post receives, we will match and donate to the Sadie Dog Fund.

Pam Hoffman, the CEO, owned a Cocker Spaniel named Sadie. She learned firsthand that veterinary bills can be quite expensive, and realized not everyone may be able to afford them. Pam immediately wanted to help as many people as possible. The Sadie Dog Fund was founded in Lincoln, NE back in 2007. The organization’s primary objective is to provide veterinary grants to families in order for their dogs to receive the life-saving surgery or treatment they need. Over the years they have aided over 1,200 dogs across Nebraska to receive treatments and stay with their families.

All likes or reactions this post receives by July 31st will count towards the donation. You may share this post with your family and friends, but please be aware we will be unable to see how many likes your shared post receives due to privacy settings. Please direct your family and friends to like our original post for their likes to count towards the donation.

We are thrilled to support the Sadie Dog Fund. For more details or if you wish to make a personal donation, please visit https://sadiedogfund.org. You can make payments via PayPal, Venmo, or send a check to Sadie Dog Fund.

UPDATE!! 💙
Thanks to everyone we have raised $1092 from your likes and shares! In donations we have matched $1220 of $2000!! (Last updated on July 27th at 4pm)

It's everyone! But instead of posting about an exercise today, we decided to post these ADORABLE pics of Max receiving medical massage, stretching and passive range of motion treatment.

Max was diagnosed with disc herniation of his cervical spine. He had surgery at Kansas State University and started PT shortly after. Max is always super excited for his PT sessions because he knows the massage will reduce his pain and stretching will help him be limber and less stiff. He might also love PT because of all the treats he gets during his sessions!

Max has made such great progress in PT. His pet parents feel he has fully recovered from IVDD and then some. They say he is more active than before his injury! This makes us so happy!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Alison Hays to the Macke Institute team as our newest physical therapist! After only a few short days, she is already making a positive impact on her patients and hitting her stride as she transitions to treating canines.

Dr. Alison is an extremely talented and accomplished physical therapist and has treated in a variety of settings all across the country. She graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Missouri and holds a board certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy. This specialization is a testament to her skill, professionalism, and commitment to the physical therapy profession.

Over the past year, Dr. Alison has worked tirelessly to complete her certification in canine rehabilitation and was awarded an Animal Therapist license by the State of Nebraska earlier this summer. This month she hit the ground running and is doing an amazing job with her new patients. We are humbled to have her as part of our team and are proud of the great job she is doing.

Dr. Alison will be working at our Omaha location on Wednesdays.
