We need your help. The Nebraska Legislature is still considering a sales tax on veterinary services for pet animals, including those pets which provide therapy and emotional support. A final vote could come on Thursday, April 18.

We ask you to take moment to contact your state senator and encourage them, again, to VOTE NO on LB388.

• Additional taxes put a burden on working families.
• Increased veterinary costs could force pet owners to forego routine care, ultimately harming the pet and increasing the risk of spreading diseases.
• The rise in cost could create more pet surrenders or euthanasia.

This is an urgent matter for the veterinary and pet animal community. Please don't wait, contact your senator today and tell them to VOTE NO on LB388.

Mr. Kitty Lollipop is Amanda's cat. He was rescued from Catz Angels Care rescue in Fremont in August 2022. He had been surrendered there 2 years prior in 2020. He was one of their longest residents at the time. His previous owners were elderly and had to go to a care facility that didn’t accept pets. Amanda had just lost her 16 year old cat Lily a month prior and knew her heart was missing something. He caught her eye on the website as it said “Special Needs”. She knew not many people would adopt an older cat with special needs or even click on his profile. He had been diagnosed with cancer and thyroid disease, which not many people are willing to take on and care for. As soon as she met him in person, she knew he was going home with her. He came home that day. Mr. Kitty Lollipop fit in right away with their older female cat Goldie and human daughter, Ava. He was so easy going, loving, and just a cool cat. They fell in love with him instantly and the rest is history. Mr. Kitty is now 18 ½ years old and lives with two new kittens Junior and Rad which whom he also accepted right away. They all love each other and snuggle all the time. He’s been such a great addition to the family and they are so thankful to have found him and had this time to spend time and love him through the end of his years. He’s stable so far, but aging fast. He is still playful, purrs, snuggles, and eats well, so they are hopeful to get another 6 months with him. How can you not love this face?

Our staff celebration last Friday was all about pancakes, laughter, and friendly competition! We played Vets Against Humanity and had a fierce 🥞 pancake-eatting contest. Guess who's still the reigning champion? Whitney! Audrey tried to give her a run for her money.

Up next we have Dr. Hayes dog, Harley. Harley is a 9 yr old spayed Blue tick Coonhound that he adopted from the Capital Humane Society. She lets her nose lead the way and recently discovered how to open the fridge😳. A baby lock was placed on the handle, but that didn’t stop her from breaking the lock while Dr. Hayes was at work and proceeded to eat 4 lbs of raw chicken🍗 and a half a dozen eggs🥚. She was taken back to work at lunchtime and x-rays revealed just how enlarged and distended her stomach was. He induced vomiting🤢 with no luck, so she was put on IV fluids immediately and then was fed a bland diet for 3 days. She was lethargic for a few days, but recovered fully 🙌and continues to let her nose lead the way.

Meet Spike (Groomer, Tiffany's dog), the self-appointed mascot of Gentle Doctor Grooming at our 153rd location. Always the life of the party, he makes his voice be heard if you ignore him! He has luxating patella in both back legs, which is when the kneecap slides or pops out of place from the femoral groove when the knee flexes, causing the dislocation. His mom is working on getting him surgery to fix it, wish him luck!

Miss Felony's got a new superpower - growing like a w**d in just 4 weeks! ! It’s only 2.5 lbs but Dr.Valadez and his team feel like she’s such a big girl ! Gosh darn she’s cute !

Meet Dr. Valadez's dog, Winston, a 7-year-old Lab/Dane Mix, he has boundless energy and affection for everyone and everything. In 2022, Dr. Valadez initiated a food trial to address his allergy symptoms, which were not being effectively managed by Apoquel. He is currently thriving on Royal Canin PR, with occasional use of Apoquel as needed. Winston does really well with therapy and it helps keep him happy and comfortable. Until he snags a big plate full of pancakes when no one is looking 🥞
