The Westgate Animal Clinic was founded upon the idea of building a practice that does more than just treat animals in need. Dr.Petersen challenged the typical operations of a veterinary clinic, and modernized it to encompass some necessary modifications. The Westgate Animal Clinic delivers more efficient doctor-patient interactions in an environment specifically designed to put your pet at ease. O

ur improved workflow allows for less time in the waiting room, granting more face time with the doctor. Since you are the advocate for your pet, additional time with our doctors increases their ability to gain insight from you, thoroughly examine your pet, and answer any outstanding questions. Decreasing the amount of interactions your pet has with others in our office will help keep your pet focused and calm in an unfamiliar and anxious environment. Every aspect and service provided in our clinic has been designed, practiced, and perfected to make you and your pets trip to the vet as enjoyable as possible.

‘Twas the night before Halloween, and all through the house, pets were stirring—yes, even the mouse!

The candy was ready, the costumes were near,
but keeping pets safe was our goal for the year.

Keep chocolate hidden, the wrappers too tight, those sweet little snacks can cause quite a fright!

No glow sticks for chewing, no candles aglow, and watch out for doors when the trick-or-treaters show!

If costumes are comfy, then go right ahead, but skip masks and hats that they’ll dread on their head.

A quiet safe space is a treat they’ll adore, when spooky sounds knock at your front door.

So cuddle them close, keep calm in the night,
a happy, safe Halloween is pure delight!

While the spooky season is full of treats and costumes for us, it can be a little tricky for our pets. Here are a few important safety tips to keep your dog safe and stress-free this Halloween:

🛑 Keep the Candy Out of Paw’s Reach
Chocolate, xylitol (found in sugar-free gum & candies), and raisins are toxic to dogs. Make sure all Halloween treats are kept safely out of reach, and remind trick-or-treaters not to share with your pup!

🦴 Offer Dog-Safe Treats Instead
If you want your dog to join the fun, give them a special pet-safe treat or chew. It’ll help keep them busy while you hand out candy.

🧛‍♂️ Costumes? Only If They’re Comfortable
Dressing up is fun, but not every dog enjoys it. If your dog seems stressed, skip the costume or go for something simple like a festive bandana. Always ensure costumes aren’t restrictive and don’t have small parts they could chew or choke on.

🚪 Watch the Door
With constant doorbell rings and strangers in costumes, your dog may feel anxious or try to dart out. Keep them secured in a quiet room away from the front door, or on a leash if they’re greeting guests.

💡 ID Is a Must
Make sure your dog’s ID tags and microchip information are up to date—just in case they slip out during the Halloween hustle.

🎇 No Glow Sticks or Candles
Glow sticks can be toxic if chewed, and candles can easily be knocked over by curious noses or wagging tails. Use battery-operated lights instead for a safer glow!

👂 Be Mindful of Noise
Scary sounds, fireworks, and unfamiliar noises can be overwhelming. Create a calm, cozy space for your dog to relax in.

🐾 Your dog’s safety and comfort come first—so keep Halloween happy and stress-free for them too!
