Westgate Animal Clinic

Westgate Animal Clinic A modernized veterinary clinic serving the extraordinary pets of Omaha, NE.

The Westgate Animal Clinic was founded upon the idea of building a practice that does more than just treat animals in need. Dr.Petersen challenged the typical operations of a veterinary clinic, and modernized it to encompass some necessary modifications. The Westgate Animal Clinic delivers more efficient doctor-patient interactions in an environment specifically designed to put your pet at ease. O

ur improved workflow allows for less time in the waiting room, granting more face time with the doctor. Since you are the advocate for your pet, additional time with our doctors increases their ability to gain insight from you, thoroughly examine your pet, and answer any outstanding questions. Decreasing the amount of interactions your pet has with others in our office will help keep your pet focused and calm in an unfamiliar and anxious environment. Every aspect and service provided in our clinic has been designed, practiced, and perfected to make you and your pets trip to the vet as enjoyable as possible.

Dogs are instinctively flight animals. In other words, they'll run and hide when they're scared, not face the mysterious loud noises coming from the sky. Please take a moment to read through the six security measures below to ensure your pets remains safe during the holiday.

1.) Take your dog for a walk before the festivities begin. A tired dog is a more relaxed dog.

2.) Don't expose pets to any new experiences on the Fourth of July. Stick to your daily routine, walking routes and feeding schedule to keep their stress-levels low.

3.) If you’re staying in with your pets, remain calm as the fireworks begin. Our pets pick up on our emotional cues, so maintaining a calm presence will help them follow your lead.

4.) Make sure your dog's tags are secure, easy-to-read, and up-to-date (including microchip information). Accidents unfortunately do happen and if your pet were to get out, you want to maximize your odds of having them returned.

5.) Please keep your pets at home. While it can be difficult to resist their sad eyes and tempting to include them in the celebration, your home is the safest place for your dog. It’s also where they will feel the most comfortable.

6.) Hosting a gathering? Be very aware of the exits. Your guests won’t be looking out for your pets. Consider placing them in a location where outside doors aren't accessible. Make sure all windows and doors are tightly secured. Additionally, consider placing a note on the front door to remind guests about the animal's presence. They can be especially sneaky and quick when frightened.

Our hearts go out to all impacted by the tornadoes today.

Tomorrow, Saturday April 27 we will be hosting a clinic in our office from 1-3 p.m. to assist pets in need following the tornadoes. We can see cats, dogs and pocket pets. From minor lacerations to seeking an exam for a clean bill of health or simply addressing your questions and concerns, we’re here for you.

The exam and treatment will be free, all we ask is for payment for any medications. We can also scan microchips for anyone who has found a pet and hopefully help reunite them with their owners.

We can't imagine what you are going through and hope this will help just a little.

For additional questions, please give us a call at 402-769-0377
