Westgate Animal Clinic

Westgate Animal Clinic A modernized veterinary clinic serving the extraordinary pets of Omaha, NE.

The Westgate Animal Clinic was founded upon the idea of building a practice that does more than just treat animals in need. Dr.Petersen challenged the typical operations of a veterinary clinic, and modernized it to encompass some necessary modifications. The Westgate Animal Clinic delivers more efficient doctor-patient interactions in an environment specifically designed to put your pet at ease. O

ur improved workflow allows for less time in the waiting room, granting more face time with the doctor. Since you are the advocate for your pet, additional time with our doctors increases their ability to gain insight from you, thoroughly examine your pet, and answer any outstanding questions. Decreasing the amount of interactions your pet has with others in our office will help keep your pet focused and calm in an unfamiliar and anxious environment. Every aspect and service provided in our clinic has been designed, practiced, and perfected to make you and your pets trip to the vet as enjoyable as possible.

Fireworks may be fun for us, but they can be frightening for our furry family members. Help keep your pets safe this Independence Day with these simple tips:

🐶 Keep pets indoors in a quiet, secure room during fireworks.
🏷️ Make sure collars fit properly and ID tags and microchip information are up to date.
🎵 Turn on calming music or the TV to help mask loud noises.
🚫 Keep fireworks, sparklers, alcohol, and barbecue foods out of your pet's reach.
❤️ Never bring pets to fireworks displays.

Wishing you, your family, and your pets a safe and happy Fourth of July!

Tornado season can be chaotic, and pets depend on you to plan ahead. A few proactive precautions can make a big difference if severe weather hits.

Have a pet emergency kit ready. Keep a go-bag just for your pet. Include 3–5 days of food and water, bowls, leash, harness, and/or carrier, medications and comfort items like a blanket or toy.

Make sure their ID is up to date. Your pet should always wear a collar with a tag. A microchip is even better—just confirm your contact info is current.

Know your safe place. During a tornado warning, bring pets inside immediately. The safest spot is a basement or an interior room with no windows (bathroom, closet). Keep carriers or leashes nearby so you can secure them quickly—panicked pets may try to bolt.

After the storm, be cautious. Debris, downed power lines, and broken glass can injure pets. Keep them leashed until you’re sure the area is safe. Stress can also cause unusual behavior, even in normally calm animals.
