😽 Adoption Success Story: Roan

Roan was one of 7 kittens brought into our care last June. He and his siblings were very shy at first, but living temporarily at the cafe was great socialization for them. That's just one of the benefits of adopting your cat from us - the cats that live at our cafe build their confidence and get used to being around new people, new cats, and lots of activity. We also have some really amazing fosters who pour their dedication and love into their foster cats. Roan's foster mom loved him so much that she made the painting on the right to give to his adopters. 🎨

Remember Rosemary, the mama cat who cared for multiple litters of orphaned kittens over the summer? She’s been waiting for her forever home since July, and we’re scratching our heads wondering why this fabulous diva hasn’t been snatched up yet! Rosemary is a sassy lady with a clear list of likes and dislikes. Likes? Chin scratches, Churu treats, and the thrill of chasing feather wands! Dislikes? Being dragged from her beauty sleep, tummy rubs, and surprise pick-ups.

Rosemary is a sweet and affectionate girl who just needs the right person to fall in love with her. She would prefer to be the only queen in your kingdom, so a household without other pets or with another calm cat would be best. However, Rosemary’s motherly instincts seem to extend to tiny humans, as she feels more at ease around children than adults. While we love her so much, we’re ready to say goodbye as she goes to her forever home.

Benson is a sweet and loving senior kitty (between 8-10 years young) who urgently needs a new home where he can thrive. With his unique bobbed tail—a mark of his resilience from a past injury—and his calm, affectionate demeanor, Benson has so much love to give to the right family.

Because of his nervous nature, Benson wouldn’t do well in a bustling environment like our cat café. Instead, he’s looking for a peaceful, stress-free home where he can feel safe and loved. He needs a household with no children and only feline companions (no dogs). Benson craves a steady routine and quiet surroundings to bring out his best self.

Once a street cat, Kit Kat was neutered and vaccinated as part of TNR efforts over a year ago, giving him a chance at a better life. Unfortunately, his story took a tragic turn when he was the victim of a horrific act of animal cruelty. His colony caretakers found him suffering immense pain and trauma - someone had shot him twice from point-blank range. He was rescued by our amazing partners, Stray to Spay, who promptly got him the medical care that saved his life.

After having two bullets removed from his face and shoulder, Kit Kat recovered in a foster home until he recently made his playroom debut. He loves to have his long, fluffy fur brushed and will happily sit and soak up all the attention. He may be a little shy at first, but who could blame him after everything he’s gone through? Despite his harrowing experiences, Kit Kat has shown incredible resilience, quickly adapting to life indoors without one of his eyes. It’s heartbreaking to think of the suffering he endured, yet he remains affectionate towards trusted humans.

It’s stories like these that remind us why we do what we do - to help innocent animals like Kit Kat live the best lives they possibly can, regardless of their circumstances. We can’t save them all, but with your support we can make a difference in these cats’ lives. Whether through donating, volunteering, fostering, or adopting, there are countless ways to get involved and make a lasting impact.

📈 Did you know that since moving to our new location, our adoption rate has increased by 40%?! Cats like Cosette remind us that Felius is more than a rescue—it’s a forever safety net.

Cosette came to us after having two litters as a stray, and she quickly showed us that she loved the safety and warmth of being indoors. She was adopted in February, but in September, we received a heartbreaking call from another shelter: Cosette had been abandoned. 😿 As soon as we heard, we arranged her transport back to Felius. She arrived scared and confused, but we’ve worked hard to make her feel safe again. Now, she is thriving in our playroom, enjoying long naps and people cuddles.

Your donations ensure that every cat, like Cosette, always has a place to come home to. Let’s keep that promise alive.

🐾 Another reason to support our mission on SHARE Omaha's - Cats like Jean Grey, a tiny momma who overcame severe illness, thrive because of donors like you! 💸🩷

Jean Grey came to Felius as a 4-lb mother desperately trying to nurse five kittens despite being sick and severely underweight. It broke our hearts to watch her try so hard just to survive. 😭 A bacterial infection made it hard for her to eat, but we discovered she LOVED rotisserie chicken and baby food. And as we all know, chicken isn't cheap (no pun intended). 🐥🐔 After months of treatment and care from her dedicated foster, Jean Grey gained weight, recovered from her infection, and was able to nurse her kittens to health! Today, she’s thriving at our cafe and waiting for her forever family.

Kitten season has hit HARD and we currently have over 50 mamas and their kittens residing in our Maternity Ward! 🤰🏼 That is a TON of mouths to feed! Felius only intakes feral moms who are almost ready to give birth. We give them a quiet, safe space to deliver their babies and then wean their kittens when the time comes. It is a vital service that not many rescues provide. We officially have our first Mama kitty this season! Meet Licorice and her 5 brand new kittens! When Licorice was trapped through our partner @straytospay’s TNR program, she was extremely pregnant. Within 24 hours after being trapped and entering our Maternity Ward she had her babies! 😱 Felius is unique in that we offer a safe space for extremely pregnant mamas to give birth, wean their kittens. Then, we finally spay/vaccinate and return her to the streets while adopting out her baby kitties! As we enter kitten season and are transitioning into our new location in Dundee, we do not have the usual flow of income that mostly came from café drink orders or reserved spots hanging out with the cats. This lack of income makes it more difficult for animal rescues like ours to keep saving cats and especially mamas like Licorice and her newborn babies. Kitten season has officially arrived! 🎉 Mama Chai just gave birth to four, beautiful babies last night. But with kitten season, comes great responsibility (and GREAT medical expenses). We need your donations to gear up for the impending flurry of pregnant moms. Each cat costs us an average of $180 to vet, and that does NOT include food, litter, and medication expenses for the duration of their stay. 🙀 And these little buggers EAT! If you haven’t met Kermit yet, you are really missing out. Kermit is super special and has a VERY mild form of Cerebellar Hypoplasia AKA ‘wobbly cat syndrome’. It might sound scary, but we promise it’s not. CH is a neurological disorder that causes sudden jerky movements, uncoordinated motion, and balance issues. As you can see here, Kermit is just a little wobbly but a WHOLE LOT cute. CH is not a painful disorder and Kermit can live a totally normal, long, and wobbly life.
