Join us in celebrating Emma as she reaches her three-year milestone at Sirius! ✨

After nearly seven years in the veterinary field, Emma recently transitioned from the daytime shift to working overnight! Now, working nights in our Intensive Care Unit, Emma monitors patients, provides clients with nighttime updates, and handles various tasks including laundry, packing, and sterilizing.

We greatly appreciate all of the hard work and dedication she has shown to our patients in the past three years. Happy third anniversary at Sirius, Emma! 🀍

Celebrating Cassie's Progress 🀍

Cassie was just eight months old last April when she began experiencing pain in her shoulder. Fortunately, Cassie's mom, one of our amazing referring Veterinarians, recognized the pain Cassie was experiencing and brought her in for a consultation with our team.

After further evaluation, we confirmed and diagnosed Cassie with Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) in her shoulder.

OCD is a joint condition that can affect growing puppies. Typically, cartilage in the joints turns into bone as a puppy matures. With OCD, that process does not happen correctly. Instead, the cartilage stays soft or loose, causing pain and limiting movement.

Cassie underwent arthroscopic surgery with Dr. Zann to repair the damaged cartilage and relieve her discomfort.

Almost a year later, as you can see from the photos above, Cassie has made a wonderful recovery and is starting her agility and Scentwork career. 🐾

Our team gets to meet your pets all day; now it is your turn to meet ours! 🀍

At Sirius, we spend our days caring for your special companions. When the workday ends, our team heads home to some very special companions of our own.

Welcome to , a new series where we will introduce you to the furry, feathered, or scaled friends who are part of our families.

To kick things off, meet Wallace, Wick, and Riggs, three adorable tabby domestic short-haired cats who belong to Kristi, one of our scrub technicians.

What a night! ✨

Last Friday, our team attended the Midlands Humane Society's Together 4 Tails!

It was amazing to see our community come together for such a meaningful cause. As a proud sponsor of this annual fundraiser, our hearts were full hearing that over $220,000 was raised to support MHS and the animals they care for!

We are already looking forward to next year's gala and continuing to support this incredible event. Thank you, Midlands Humane Society, for everything you do for the animals and our community. 🀍🐾

Meet Clifford, an adorable eight-month-old Dachshund! β™₯️

After a sudden injury in late March, Clifford's mom brought him to his primary veterinarian at Verner Veterinary Clinic. Dr. Verner evaluated Clifford and took X-rays, which revealed a fracture.

After receiving the referral from Dr. Verner, our team quickly coordinated the schedule so that Clifford could receive a consultation and surgery on the same day due to the nature of his injury.

Once Clifford arrived at Sirius, further evaluation confirmed that he had a right distal femur fracture. Immediately following the consultation, we admitted him for surgery. Clifford underwent surgery with Dr. Tan, where our team placed screws to stabilize the femur.

Clifford's recovery is thanks to his dedicated paw-rents, Dr. Verner's prompt referral, and our highly proficient team for accommodating Clifford to provide him with the necessary orthopedic specialty care.

We are happy to report Clifford has since been recovering well and will soon be back to his usual puppy activities. 🐾

May is Mental Health Awareness Month πŸ§ πŸ’š

This month is a time to raise awareness for those living with mental health challenges to help reduce the stigma so many experience. Today, we want to focus on mental health within the veterinary field.

You might wonder how a profession known for its compassion towards animals can have such a high rate of mental health struggles compared to the general population. Unfortunately, there is no straightforward answer to that question.

While we take pride in being the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, working in this field is far from easy. The veterinary profession is significantly understaffed, which can lead to feeling drained, exhausted, and overwhelmed. We don't always get to deliver good news, and our job is not just playing with animals all day.

So, the next time you visit your local veterinary clinic, please remember to be kind, patient, and understanding. We are all doing our best.

If you are struggling with your mental health, please know that you are not alone.

Join us in raising awareness and breaking the mental health stigma by sharing this post with your friends and family. πŸ’š
