MEET MOLLY
When Molly joined her family in December 2014, they were aware she had patella luxation in her back right knee. However, at that time, it didn't seem to affect her much.

In April 2024, after a typical jump from Molly's favorite recliner, she injured herself and was rushed to an emergency veterinarian. Molly and her parents were then referred to our team, where we further evaluated the extent of her injury. Unfortunately, it was determined that Molly had dislocated her hip.

Molly soon underwent surgery with Dr. Zann, who not only treated her dislocated hip but also stabilized her knee and resolved her patella luxation issues during the same procedure.

Since then, Molly has been working hard in physical therapy sessions and continuing her exercises at home. We are happy to report that this adorable 13-year-old Yorkshire Terrier Mix, is now back to her usual self! 🤍🐾

While we'd love to see ourselves on the list, we believe that great care is a team effort. Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center collaborates with veterinarians nationwide, working together to achieve the common goal of providing excellent care for patients.

If you have had a positive experience with us or any veterinary hospital, we encourage you to take a couple of minutes to complete the survey. You can include up to ten veterinary hospitals you've visited or received services from within the last three years. This survey allows you to highlight the clinics that have positively impacted you or your pet's life.

Today, we are celebrating Morgan, one of our outstanding Customer Care Representatives, who has played a vital role in our hospital since joining our team in 2019.

Morgan may have greeted you at the front desk, checked your furbaby in for their appointment, or perhaps you have spoken to her over the phone to schedule an appointment. Regardless of how you have interacted with her, it is easy to see that Morgan is kind, caring, and has a great sense of humor. She demonstrates great leadership qualities and is always ready to lend a helping hand to others.

Over the past six years, Morgan has gained extensive knowledge in the veterinary orthopedic field, making her a great resource for our clients and our team.

Since January 7th, nearly 40,000 acres of Southern California have been devastated by ongoing wildfires. As a result, thousands of people have been forced to evacuate their homes, often leaving everything behind, unfortunately, sometimes their pets. Local animal shelters in California are currently being stretched thin by the influx of displaced animals, both wild and domesticated.

To support the local animal shelters that are working tirelessly to care for these animals in need, we have compiled a list of ways you can help support these amazing organizations.

With nine years of experience in the veterinary field—six of those as an LVT—Jen has made a positive impact on our team in numerous ways. MEET GINGER 🐾
This adorable girl is a 12-week-old Border Collie. She recently injured herself after jumping off the stairs earlier this month. Following the incident, her owner became concerned when Ginger was unable to bear weight on her right leg. Given the nature of her injury, our team quickly arranged a consultation, followed by surgery on the same day.

Ginger underwent surgery to stabilize her femur fracture. Since she's still a puppy, we expect her to recover in as little as four weeks, while adult dogs typically need about eight weeks. Last week she had her four-week recheck appointment, and we are happy to report that she is doing well.

We're thankful our friends and colleagues at Valley Vet promptly referred Ginger to our team, allowing us to begin helping this sweet girl.🤍✨

2024 — What a year! ✨

As we reflect on the past year, we're filled with gratitude. In 2024, our team performed over 1,600 surgeries, reached significant milestones, and expanded our Intensive Care Unit, among many other accomplishments.

We appreciate our wonderful clients and partnering veterinarians for trusting our team with the care of their family members and patients. We look forward to what this year has in store for us as we continue to help return four-legged athletes to their peak performance. 🤍

Santa and his elves have been hard at work expanding our Intensive Care Unit just in time for Christmas! 🎁✨

After several months of construction, we are excited to present our nearly completed ICU expansion. This significant upgrade allows us to care for more patients, provides our team with additional space, and enhances our ability to work efficiently and effectively. We are grateful to offer this improved environment for both our patients and our dedicated staff. Now, we're down to the final touches!

Since joining our team in 2021, Nellie has dedicated herself to further developing her skills, passing the VTNE🎉, and ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care. With over 11 years of experience in the veterinary field, it is clear that Nellie has a true passion for patient well-being. From placing IV catheters to closely monitoring anesthesia during surgery and everything in between, Nellie plays an essential role on our team.

Today marks a milestone for Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center - eight incredible years of growth! Since we opened our doors on December 6th, 2016, we've transformed into a regional orthopedic center, helping over 1,500 patients each year return to their peak performance.

When we first started, we had one surgeon and four employees. Today, we are proud to have three surgeons and nearly 40 dedicated team members! We operate in a fantastic facility that includes four operating rooms, a CT scanner, arthroscopy, and state-of-the-art anesthesia machines and monitoring equipment. Our commitment to providing the best and most advanced treatments in Nebraska drives us to further our education and stay updated on the latest technologies.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way. We wouldn't be where we are without you. We are excited to see what the future holds as we continue to grow and share our knowledge of the orthopedic specialty with others. 🤍 🐾

This Friday, we will celebrate a milestone: eight incredible years of helping return four-legged athletes to their peak performance at Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center! ✨

💙 How It All Began 💙

In 2012, Dr. Horstman, a staff surgeon at the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center, received a difficult phone call from a friend back home. His friend shared that his dog had been diagnosed with cancer and was uncertain about what decision to make. Feeling helpless from halfway across the country, Dr. Horstman and his wife, Jessica, decided to relocate their family to Nebraska, Dr. Horstman's home state, to bring his specialized expertise to the Midwest.

After earning his MBA, Dr. Horstman purchased the necessary equipment and moved in October 2015. He quickly got to work, visiting various veterinary clinics to introduce himself and offer his assistance to fellow veterinarians.

In November 2015, Dr. Horstman performed his first mobile surgery, marking the beginning of a new chapter. A year later, in December 2016, Sirius Veterinary Orthopedic Center officially opened its doors, ready to help the community. 💙

MEET RUBY! Ruby had a hindlimb amputation much earlier in life due to unfortunate circumstances. This makes management of any orthopedic disease critical. She was referred to our team by Twin Valley Veterinary Clinic last year. Ruby was evaluated by Dr. Zann for a cranial cruciate ligament tear, which is equivalent to an ACL tear in humans. With careful planning and precision surgery, our team was able to get Ruby back to peak performance. Luna's Total Hip Replacement

Luna is a Danish-Swedish Farmdog, who was diagnosed with Legg-Calve-Perthes as a puppy. Perthes disease is a rare condition that causes the ball at the top of the femur to lose blood supply and break down inside the hip joint, resulting in lameness, limping, and pain. Fortunately, Companion Animal Clinic referred Luna to our team in a timely manner so we could eliminate her pain and begin helping as soon as possible. It has been three years since our team performed a Total Hip Replacement surgery for Luna, and she is thriving!
