The unpasteurized product has proven public safety risks that have led to illness outbreaks. Still, it's supporters contend it is healthier.

Our Story

Wisconsin is America’s Dairyland, but have you ever seen cows milk themselves? Or watched calves drink milk? How about “sausage tubes” filled with grass or robots push up cattle feed? Knigge Farms has this and more. Come to see a modern dairy farm that focuses on sustainable environmental practices and uses technology to make life better for the people and the animals on this family farm.

In July 2000, Knigge Farms installed the first robotic milking system in the United States. Pete, Theo and Charlie Knigge farm 1,000 acres of alfalfa, corn, soybeans and wheat; milk 130 cows, and raise 170 heifers, calves and steers.

Knigge farms enjoys hosting visitors from all over the world to connect with consumers and tell the story of modern agriculture. In January 2017, Knigge Farms had a national TV audience as it was featured on the popular reality series “The Bachelor” as part of a group date. Just three months prior, Knigge Farms was featured on the NFL network and CBS Sports in a short segment just prior to the kickoff of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears football game showcasing hometown people.

Your visit to Knigge Farm will include a half-hour guided tour of a modern family dairy farm using robotic milking and automatic calf-feeding technology. You will tour a free-stall dairy barn where cows milk themselves 24 hours a day. You will also have the opportunity to see calves and may take part in feeding if your visit is during feeding time. Cats, kittens and the farm dog Apollo are also part of Knigge farms and love to greet the many visitors.
