Just One More Rescue is a No-Kill, Cat Rescue dedicated to saving the lives of kittens and cats in need. Our mission is to rescue, care for, and find loving homes for kittens and cats that need it most. Our goal is to become a 501©(3), not for profit organization working to ensure that homeless kittens and cats have a safe haven, free from shelters that euthanize animals.
When we rescue a kitten or cat, we want to provide them with veterinary care, bring them up to date on their vaccines, schedule their spay or neuter, and finally, work our hardest to find each kitten or cat their furever home and happy place.
In June we celebrate Adopt-A-Cat month, a month that marks the height of “kitten season,” when millions of kittens are born and often end up in animal shelters. More than ever, they need our help. Thousands of newborn kittens join the millions of cats already in shelters struggling to provide food, care and hopes for a furever home.
Just One More Rescue started with one simple goal. We wanted to break the kitten factory cycle for a neighborhood cat and the rest escalated quickly! We pulled Shadow and her 5 babies from under a tree stump in our backyard on March 26th and moved her into a big kennel in our "shed" with the intent to fix everyone, especially mama and socialize them for a loving future. Less than a week later, Erma emerged from the woods looking like she had a football in her belly and of course, since I carry a 30lb bag of cat food in the car with me, I stopped to feed her. She insisted on coming with me and 13 hours after arriving, Erma had 4 chunky monkey kittens and the Shed for U***d Mothers was officially born! The Shed for U***d Mothers is an 8’x16’ out building that survived a tornado 2 years ago. It has major holes in the roof so we are only able to use about half the building, it keeps everyone mostly dry, but is not perfect or a long-term solution.
It’s funny, the universe affirmed we are doing the right thing and the day after our page was created we received our first donation……a very pregnant cat! A week later, Lily had 4 tiny babies and brought us to 13 kittens! By the end of April, we had our second donation. An orphaned 2-week-old kitten. I knew Erma and her sweet litter would be the right family to take her in and it was instant love!
Last week we trapped and fixed our first kitties! Erma and Shadow were slated to be fixed, but while trying to trap 2 pregnant kitties, we got one Prego and Old “BB”, the male who seems to have fathered most of the cats in the area. You guessed it, Old “BB” moved to the head of the list and became one of our first official spay and neuters!
We had 3 more orphans come in the next day and another one yesterday, along with a litter of 7 and an orphan litter of 6 last week.. bringing us to 33 babies!! With kittens ranging from 4 days old to almost 8 weeks, (and more mommas and babies coming any time) we are working hard to help these little kittens thrive and be ready to be great companions in their furever homes!
Up to this point, we have done this out of our own pockets. We need lots of support right now. Please take a moment and give these kittens and cats a chance for a better life!
We all know that animals are our “best friends.” Won’t you please help us reciprocate that love and support. FOOD, kennels, litter, and vet costs are the major items that need your financial support.
To date, the only donations we have received are a whole bunch of kitties and $20 from a kind lady who saw me feeding a kitty colony behind the neighborhood gas station. Please consider donating! Even a couple of dollars makes a huge difference!!
