Educational post for fellow breeders and our Spottadachs family as well.

Why do we choose to breed multiple litters at once. Firstly just like a room full of teenage girls our ladies cycle together.

Secondly for thier saftey!

This week has been a stark reminder of why for me!

First we had a small litter of Great Dane puppies that were orphaned.
Hershey who lost her own litter due to no fault of her own was distraught to not have any babies so gladly took on the orphans. They are being raised by a Dachshund along side and cuddled up to a nest full of Dachshunds. You can't get any more "Ugly Dachshund" than that. I am bottle feeding them so the draw is not to much for little Hershey but she is more than happy to supplement them, clean thier booties, and snuggle which is a huge help for me and comforting for her.

Yesterday Candy had a VERY scary case of Calcium deficiency which required after hours veterinary visit. I honestly thought I was going to lose her. I have never had a case this bad before I can usually catch it at first sign but I was out running errands all morning when my daughter called me to tell me something was wrong.

Early warning signs are typically itching, anxiety or irritability toward thier own pups or others, panting, and then as it advances muscle spasms, paralysis, and death.
I came home to find her stiff and spasming with muscle tremors on the bedroom floor.
After an emergency calcium infusion she started to recover and is now cuddling with her babies again.
However she can not be allowed to nurse anymore or risk another drop so her bestie Beauty is stepping up to care for Candy's two on top of her own 5.
This can cause Beauty to also get low so we are carefully monitoring her VERY closely as well.

Without multiple lactating mama's in the house I would be doing more than just supplementing. I would be non-stop bottle feeding around the clock forcing me to neglect the care of my other dogs.

Most breeders can not just swap puppies around so easily. I am able to do this because of how I raise my girls in a natural pack like state. They learn as pups to respect thier elders and be nice to others pups. As teens they get to watch and interact with our litters learning how to share and care for pups.

Many breeders would just remove the mom from the room and cease all contact with her pups, to eventually get over them.
I prefer to allow her to continue to enjoy and cuddle her babies meaning she needs to wear a protective suit to keep the pups from nursing her while laying with them.

It is ridiculous I even have to post this but IF you have one of my puppies via another buyer it is a breach of contract as I am supposed to be notified before any puppy/dog is rehomed.
Thanks to recent lies by someone who got one of my puppies under false pretenses I had a friendly visit from animal control who applauded me for the work I have done restoring the ranch I am buying and put me on the fast track to approve the kennel license I had already submitted.
As most of you know I was AKC inspected in 2024 and passed with flying colors.
The previous owner of this ranch was AKC, USDA, and health department inspected yearly.
I do NOT have 40+ Dachshunds 🤣 many of the females listed on my website are in guardian homes due to the move this summer.
I DO NOT have mini or toy aussies and have not in 20 years.
I do now have 10 senior Great Danes that I promised to let live out thier lives at the ranch. They were scheduled to all be put down because thier owners dementia. They have not had litters in over 2 years so the small litter that recently arrived was a total shock and was obviosley created BEFORE I arrived a month ago.
There has not been Parvo on this property in ten years (lifespan is 7) but rest assured I will take precautions as always regardless.
It is vet reccomended protocol to deworm puppies every two weeks that does not signify an out of control worm problem that is the timeline EVERY breeder worth thier salt uses because that is the lifecycle of worms.
If your going to try and make me look bad at least get your facts straight!

How many of you guys have seen the Disney movie "The Ugly Dachshund"? It is one of my favorites.
We got a BIG surprise yesterday afternoon from one of the Great Danes we inherited with our new ranch. We now have some "Ugly Dachshund" puppies to share as well.
Great Danes make wonderful slaves for the weens 🤣.
