We desperately need dog fosters. Our kennels are beyond full, we even have a handful of dogs boarding at our clinic. To add to the stress, we have quite a few dogs who simply don't do well in kennel environment and they're amping each other up and causing a safety concern for each other and our staff. The shelter can be an extremely overwhelming place, even for the most well-behaved of dogs. We need fosters...like yesterday.

If you're interested in fostering, even if just temporarily for a week or so while you have some time off work for the holidays we would be incredibly appreciative. Any amount of time out of the shelter greatly increases a dog's chance at adoption, and allows them a chance to get some much needed TLC. We have puppies, small lap dogs, novel breeds, all looking for a place to land while we hopefully get some dogs adopted and find more space. We will be OPEN for walk-in foster pick-up tonight until 5PM, and tomorrow from 9AM-4PM. Our team will walk you through everything, answer questions, provide you with ANY necessary supplies, and have you complete any necessary paperwork. There are so many fantastic dogs to choose from, we are confident we can find a good match for your family!

Feel free to submit an application in advance at sftsrescue.org/foster or email [email protected] with any questions. Please do not call, as our phones are often very busy. Or just stop by tonight before 5PM or tomorrow from 9AM-4PM and see all of our fantastic dogs available for temporary foster!

All treats and no tricks! From Today, October 31, through Friday November 15, all cat and kitten adoption fees are $5 (unless already sponsored)! We are at and beyond CAT-pacity and need to get as many cats and kittens into their forever homes as soon as possible. All approved applications within this time period will be eligible for this offer.

October is Pit Bull Awareness Month, shining a light on a very misunderstood breed of dog. Bully breed dogs are the most common dogs in shelters, and generally take three times as long to be adopted. We are very proud to share we have saved 56 pit bull mix dogs in 2024, with more to come!

There are a lot of misconceptions about bully breeds, and although they are not for everyone they can be wonderful, loving companions. We encourage our adopters to look past a dog's "breed" and approach adoption with an open mind, as every dog is an individual. For the remainder of we are offering 50% off adoption fees for all pit mixes available! Visit sftsrescue.org/adoptable-dogs to see all of the wonderful dogs looking for loving homes.

Find your new best feline friend this weekend at Coulee Region Humane Society

In celebration of PetSmart’s National Adoption Week, we are doing $10 adoption fees on all cats 7 months or older (if not already sponsored) Friday, October 25, through Sunday October 27. All approved applications during this time will be eligible.

We will also have staff, volunteers and full kennels at PetSmart in Onalaska (Valley Square Shopping Center) Friday-Sunday! Come by and say, “Hi!”
