Our Community Rehoming page is a valuable resource to help get animals into forever homes with the added benefit of never having to set foot in the shelter. Although here at CRHS we do our best to keep stress as low as possible a shelter environment is a major change that even well-adjusted pets can struggle with. Home-to-home placements are far less stressful on animals needing a new place to live and it decreases the number of animals in our already crowded shelter.

Only 2 more days, all cat and kitten adoption fees are $5 (unless already sponsored)! We are still beyond CAT-pacity and need to get as many cats and kittens into their forever homes as soon as possible. All approved applications within this time period will be eligible for this offer.

Thinking of becoming a foster for us but have questions about what all is involved? Here’s some info to help clear up any questions you might have.

We provide each foster with:
• Food
• Toys
• Litter (cats)
• All medical expenses and care
• Kennel’s (if needed)

You also don’t need to have a fenced yard to foster a dog (just that you get out for walks and keep it on leash). You don’t need to own your home. If you rent, we just ask you consult your landlord to see if you are able to foster.

Our foster families are as important to us as our employees and volunteers! They give up their time and space to care for animals in need of forever homes. They also help keep our animal friend population as manageable as possible here at the shelter. This year has been extremely busy for our fosters. Currently we have over 170 animals in foster care!

We are still over-capacity with our feline friends. Looking for ways to help? Here are some things that will have a direct impact on our situation.

• If YOU volunteer or work at another animal organization and can assist in taking cats, please reach out to us via Facebook or email our kennel manager at [email protected]

• If available, sign up to be a foster. Foster application is on our website.

• Adopt! Currently, until November 15th all cat adoption fee’s are $5. The adoption application is on our website.

• Share CRHS’s available cats album and our social media posts. Tell friends and family about the available cats we have.

• If you are finding yourself no longer able to keep your cat, we can help! We have financial resources and behavior tips we can help you work through.

We've got cat scratcher fever! We have a full house of cats that need enrichment!

Thank you to the Petfinder Foundation for awarding Coulee Region Humane Society a 2024 Cat Enrichment Grant! We will use this grant to purchase Stretch and Scratchers for the cats at our shelter. These enrichment items are vital to the mental and physical well-being of shelter cats, as they provide opportunities for entertainment and exercise.

Additionally, they encourage natural behaviors such as claw maintenance, stress relief, and scent marking, which help cats feel more comfortable and at home in an often-stressful shelter environment.
