Today as I was picking up some groceries there was a woman with 2 little girls at the entrance to the parking lot. I stopped and asked her why she was there. She gave me a story about going to Colorado and needing work. English was clearly not her first language and I wonder if she is in our country legally or what circumstances have brought her here. I gave her some oranges for her and her children to eat. She did not say thank you, instead she quickly took them and asked for money. I didn't see anyone else stopping, I didn't see the little girls with anything to eat, yet the oranges were not what the woman wanted.
When I got home, the rainy weather frustrated my plans of working horses and I felt a little grumpy about it. It made me pause and think about missing things I should be grateful for because it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I made some good connections at a meeting today. I wasn't out on the street with my small children. I live on a beautiful farm with amazing horses. Thank you Lord for all the good gifts you give me and help me never to overlook them or be dissatisfied with what you give me just because it wasn't exactly what I wanted.

We are so grateful to hear that the landfill proposal is dead! The threat to our farm is gone for now, but we will continue to help fight for the Duck River and our county since it seems to be a target for big money to try to take our resources and dump their garbage on the beautiful rural landscape.

‼️REGIONAL LANDFILL PROPOSAL HAS BEEN ABANDONED‼️

“It’s dead!” That was the message we received last night from Mr. Trainor with Tennessee Forestland LLC. Those two short words mean so much to this community.

Our two short words are, “Thank You!”

- Thank you to the owners of Tennessee Forestland for supporting us.
- Thank you to the individuals who came to the committee meeting to have their voices heard.
- Thank you to all of our community who has shared this information.
- Thank you to everyone who advocated for this beautiful land and water sources that surround it.

This issue has come to an end, but our fight to advocate for the Duck River will continue on.

- Hickman County for the Duck

We need your help to save our farm and Moses Mission. There is a proposed industrial waste dump on a pristine 1000 acres with beautiful biodiverse rivers (the Piney and the Duck) flowing on both sides only a few miles from our farm. 240+ semis full of garbage from 28 counties would be passing our house both ways every day on our quiet country road that has no shoulders. Widening the road would cut into our pasture and reduce grazing land for our horses as well as bring the road closer to our house. My parent's house is closer to the road than ours and it would be devastating. They also have acres of road front pasture that would likely be used to widen the road. The toxins from the dump could leach into the soil, ground water, and certainly into the air. Our peaceful, serene setting where we do equine assisted therapy and teach riding would be no more. The beautiful healthy forested environment where we have chosen to live for health reasons would be no more. People are beginning to organize and plan how to stop this devastation to the environment and quality of life here in our rural county. Stay tuned to learn how you may be able to help us save our farm!

Great big thank you to Stewart Lumber in Dickson for the lumber to finish our arena this weekend. Scott gave us a nice discount on pressure treated decking boards to use on our arena fence! Much less than Lowe's or Home Depot and great to work with. I'll post pictures as soon as the fence is up!
