It’s a truly special day at VCA California Veterinary Specialists—Kyle is finally going home! 🏠❤️

Kyle is not just any dog—he’s a 12-year-old golden retriever and a devoted service companion who has spent his life helping his owner navigate the world. Through thick and thin, Kyle has been a loyal friend, always ready to serve. But when multiple bleeding masses left him unable to perform his daily duties, his owners searched tirelessly for answers. Despite visiting some of the best specialists, they struggled to find the right solution to give Kyle the quality of life he deserved.

Then came a turning point—Kyle was brought to CVS Ontario, where he met Dr. Phillips and her extraordinary surgical team. From the moment he arrived, Kyle was surrounded by compassion, expertise, and unwavering dedication. After a carefully planned surgery, Kyle made an incredible recovery, showing resilience and strength every step of the way.

And today is the day we’ve all been waiting for—Kyle is ready to start his next adventure! Watching him walk out of our hospital, tail wagging and eyes full of life, is a moment we will never forget. We couldn’t be happier for Kyle and his owner, and we wish them nothing but love, joy, and endless tail wags on this new journey!

Here’s to fresh starts, second chances, and the unbreakable bond between a service dog and his human. Way to go, Kyle! ❤️🐾

Meet Marshall, the 6-year-old Dachshund who has truly shown us the meaning of resilience! 🐾

When he came to our Neurology service, he couldn’t use his back legs and was in clear discomfort. Thanks to a thorough exam by Dr. Wachowiak and a spinal MRI, we determined surgery was his best path to recovery. That very night, Marshall underwent a successful Hemilaminectomy.

The next day, his spunky personality was already shining through, and just 6 weeks later, he’s back to walking, running, and living his best life with his loving family. Marshall’s journey is an inspiration, and we’re so proud of his incredible progress. Way to go, Marshall! 🐾❤️

Here at VCA California Veterinary Specialists Ontario, we would like to remind you that the holidays are a time for joy and celebration, but they can also pose some risks for our furry friends. Keep your pets safe this season with these quick tips:

❌ Skip the Tinsel: Cats love shiny objects, but tinsel can cause serious blockages if swallowed.

🎁 Watch the Wrapping: Strings, ribbons, and small decorations can be choking hazards.

🌱 Mind the Plants: Poinsettias, mistletoe, and holly are toxic to pets. Choose pet-friendly greenery!

🍫 Guard the Goodies: Chocolate, raisins, and rich foods can be harmful to pets. Keep snacks out of reach!

🔥 Secure the Scene: Use barriers for candles and fireplaces to keep curious noses safe.

11/28/2024

Thanksgiving is all about family, friends, and delicious food, but it’s important to keep your pets safe during the festivities.

As you prepare for tomorrow’s festivities, Thanksgiving Eve is an excellent time to consider your pet’s health and safety this holiday season. The food we eat can cause issues ranging from mild stomach upset to severe health outcomes and possibly death in cats, dogs and other pets.

Here are some essential tips to ensure your furry companions stay healthy and happy:

No Table Scraps for Pets 🐾
- Many Thanksgiving foods, like turkey skin, gravy, and stuffing, are too fatty and can cause upset stomachs or even pancreatitis.
- Foods like onions, garlic, raisins, and grapes are toxic to pets.

Turkey Bones Are a No-Go 🦴
- Cooked bones can splinter and cause choking, blockages, or tears in your pet’s digestive system.

Beware of Desserts 🍪
- Chocolate and xylitol (a sweetener found in sugar-free products) are highly toxic to dogs and cats. Keep pies, cookies, and other desserts out of reach.

Secure the Trash 🗑️
- Pets love to scavenge, but garbage often contains food scraps, bones, and packaging that can lead to blockages or poisoning. Use a pet-proof trash can.

Stick to Pet-Friendly Treats 🐾
- Treat your pets with special Thanksgiving-themed pet snacks or small amounts of plain, cooked veggies like carrots or green beans.

Watch the Alcohol 🍷
- Alcohol is extremely dangerous for pets. Keep glasses and bottles well out of their reach.

VCA California Veterinary Specialists Ontario will be open 24/7 in the case of a medical emergency. For more information please contact 909-947-3600. Wishing you and your fur family a wonderful Thanksgiving! 🦃🐕🐾
